Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 40: Screams from home
Sage was exhausted as she walked around the castle, listening for the echo of her father’s voice.
Her eyes were filled with tears, and her heart was on the verge of reaching her throat because of the fear in his voice.
She didn’t want to lose her father because she had no one else and she knew how much he loved her.
She arrived at the castle’s entrance to find a slew of dead guards on the ground. They had been brutally murdered, which sent shivers up her spine. The majority of them were guards who had been ordered by Dexter to take her to the dungeon. She noticed that there were no mages among the guards.
Sage’s head throbbed as she struggled to understand what was going on.
There weren’t as many guards in the castle which was odd, none of whom were mages, and Dexter ruled over them.
She scowled. She wanted answers! She was well aware that Cyrus was aware of what was going on, but she was also aware that he would not tell her anything.
There was no relationship between them anymore, she didn’t want anything to do with him, no reason to stay with him... she kissed him so shamelessly in the dungeon, he was like a drug that she would become addicted to.
Sage shook her head. "It is just the mark of lust, nothing else." She muttered to herself.
"AH!" A sudden loud shriek from outside made her flinch.
Sage rushed towards the door and opened it to see more bodies on the ground all the way to the stairs. Looking up at the dark night sky, she could see dragons flying above Credia with their mouths open and fire coming out.
Screams could be heard throughout the kingdom, confirming Sage’s worst fears.
"No!" Tears streamed from her eyes. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Her entire world had shattered into nothing but dust, dust that could never be recreated into anything. She had always protected her kingdom, had done so since she was a child, but now it was crumbling in front of her.
Sage screamed in agony, allowing her body to fall, but strong arms wrapped around her just in time.
She felt pathetic and useless, but she remembered that Cyrus had always insulted her but had never called her useless.
Her teary eyes viewed his handsome face and his ice blue eyes staring at her intently.
"Sleep." Cyrus whispered to her and raised his hand to her face, but she grabbed his wrist.
"No," He clenched his fist as her voice came out as a whisper. "As usual, I will save my kingdom; you may return to your kingdom." She told him calmly and pushed herself out of his arms, but he tightened his grip around her.
Sage squinted deeply. Her eyes turned a fiery red, and her heart and mind were consumed by rage and lust.
"Take your fifthly hands off of me!" She yelled at him, engulfing her body in raging fire.
Cyrus was immediately engulfed in a bright glow, which caused him to growl in pain and release Sage. "Argh! Arrogant!"
Sage bolted into the city, while the glow around Cyrus faded and he reappeared in his dark state, staring in the direction Sage bolted.
"Absolutely stupid." Cyrus spoke sternly and raised his head to see a dragon approaching.
The dragon landed in front of him and transformed into Arthur.
He kept a solemn expression on his face and bowed his head.
"Esteban has killed many of the humans, my king," Arthur stated.
"Are there no mages?" Inhaling the cold wind, Cyrus inquired.
"Not one single one." Arthur responded.
"Good," Cyrus said, nodding. "When he realised I was in the kingdom, the fool decided to wipe out all humans."
"The queen, her father..." Arthur inquired, concerned.
"Alive, go get her; it’s time she knows a little bit about what’s going on." Cyrus interrupted him.
"Yes sire," He whispered with a nod, shifting back into his dragon form and taking off immediately.
"He won’t dare approach me now, not yet," Cyrus said, referring to Esteban, who was somewhere in Credia.
...
There was a lot of fire and dead bodies.
The majority of the houses had been burned down, and the rest were still on fire.
Sage shivered and hugged herself as she saw men, women, and children’s bodies on the ground. The majority of them had parts of their bodies severed and were roasted.
The screams were lessening, indicating that the majority of the people were dead or, if they were lucky, had fled.
Sage trembled uncontrollably as she walked through the burnt and burning houses into the city centre, where she saw a familiar figure dragging a woman by her hair.
The familiar man was built with long black hair and rough beards. His dark eyes were filled with lust for the woman he was pulling by the hair, and with each pull, she screamed loudly in pain.
While the woman cried in agony, the three men with him laughed as if they were watching a comedic play.
The woman was human, her body and dress filthy, her eyes filled with pain, revealing that, aside from the pain she was experiencing from her hair, she had lost people close to her.
"Please! Stop! Let me go!" The woman screamed.
The man bent down and grabbed her jaw. "Be quiet!" He spat on her face and grinned. "Stop screaming, you are going to be my favourite concubine." He continued to pull her hair harder, eliciting a loud scream of pain from her.
Sage couldn’t stand what she was seeing any longer. "Stop right now!" She yelled.
Everyone froze and stiffly turned to face her.
Her body was engulfed in flames, and she was enraged.
The man appeared to have had his blood drained from his face. "How come she isn’t dead?" He stumbled.
"We didn’t get any report about her, only about Cyrus, my lord," one of the stunned men replied stiffly.
"You destroyed my home, Esteban, and you will die in my hands today!"
