Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 39: Not different from him
Dexter forgot to breathe and burst out coughing after receiving a hard glare from Cyrus.
He turned away, wanting to flee.
"Feel free, my dear parrot," Cyrus said to Sage, who nodded, inhaled, and a raging flaming whip appeared in her hand, reaching up and slashing Dexter’s back hard.
Sage’s eyes welled up with tears as Dexter yelled in pain and fell to the ground.
It wasn’t enough for her, so she whipped him again and again, tearing his back skin and closing her eyes, allowing tears to fall down her cheeks.
Cyrus locked his gaze on Sage, his eyes unblinking. He could feel his heart thumping slowly and frowned deeply because this was unusual for him. What was going on? Was he moved by her tears or by the pain she was experiencing? He was aware that painful memories would be replaying in her mind.
His lips parted, and the next thing he knew, he was wiping her tears away with his fingers.
Sage, who hadn’t expected him to do that, trembled and her eyes fluttered open, emerald eyes glittering with tears of pain and confusion.
"Don’t." Her voice shook, and Cyrus’ hand came to a halt, his eyes boring into hers as she spoke. "You are no different from him, Cyrus Dragos."
Cyrus’ lips twitched. "Of course," His voice came out as a deep whisper, his eyes filled with a strong emotion that she couldn’t understand as usual.
He moved away from her and chewed his lower lip as Sage whipped Dexter’s back again, causing him to scream in pain.
Soon after his scream ended, dragon roars echoed throughout Credia, and screams could be heard.
Cyrus’ lips were curved with an unknown smile, while Sage was stunned.
"They have arrived!" The whip on her grip vanished, and she exclaimed, "Oh no! Father!" Then ran out of the dungeon.
"What a moronic parrot." Cyrus shook his head in disappointment.
Snowflake returned his gaze to Cyrus while waiting for an order, his eyes returning to their blue slit form.
"Go after her; I will be there shortly." Cyrus explained with a sly smile.
Snowflake turned away and walked out of the dungeon, leaving Dexter unconscious with Cyrus.
Cyrus’ aura became lethal, his expression cold, and his eyes held the full brunt of torture. The thought of Dexter touching Sage enraged him, making him want to rip Dexter’s head from his body, but he needed the man... for a while.
He approached Dexter, his bloody slashed skin pouring out blood and erupting a small amount of smoke.
"You are a decent player, aren’t you? You should blame yourself for forcing yourself into my life; your death will be quite pleasant." Cyrus whispered, his eyes gleaming with silver as he used his feet to push Dexter to lay on his back.
"Interesting," Cyrus said, his gaze fixed on Dexter’s bandaged jaw. "As usual, parrot."
...
"Lia!" Julius yelled and flung open the door.
Lia, who was sitting on the bed, narrowed her eyes at him and stood up.
"Well, well, well, fleeing?" Lia asked mockingly, seeing fear in his eyes despite his stern expression.
"He is here, and Esteban will arrive shortly." Julius spoke slowly to her, and she scoffed in disbelief.
"I understand." Lia laughed, knowing that no one expected Cyrus to arrive so early, just as no one expected Sage to appear unexpectedly in Credia.
"You are accompanying me." Julius growled and moved towards her. "The killings are brutal there; we will be accompany Esteban to Fireria." He continued, grabbing her wrist.
Lia jerked away, clutching her wrist. "I am not going anywhere with a disgusting man like you!" She screamed.
Julius slapped her hard and frowned deeply.
Lia rubbed her affected cheek as she tasted her own blood. Her eyes pricked with tears, and her breathing became laboured.
"Do not pretend to be a saint." Julius snarled at her.
"You do not feel anything? This kingdom will be destroyed!" Lia screamed at him.
"Have I ever given a damn? Have you ever been concerned? Remember that you are deceitful!" Julius yelled at her and snatched her wrist once more.
Dragon roars could be heard as soon as Lia screamed.
"They have arrived, let’s go!" Julius yanked her hard towards the door.
"Father, Father, Father! Where are you, Father?!" Sage’s voice echoed throughout the castle, closer to Julius and Lia’s room.
Julius sighed, frustrated. "How come she isn’t dead?" He then let go of Lia’s wrist and walked out of the room, staring at the frail Lia.
"Do not let her find you, or you will both die in my hands." He warned Lia, who was struggling to keep her eyes open, and closed the door, removing a padlock from his pocket and sealing it.
"Sage! My darling daughter!" He ran into another hallway, calling out in a terrified tone.
Lia landed on her buttocks before moving all the way to the wall next to the door to stretch her back. She let out a deep sigh of regret and worry. Her eyes blinked slowly, showing no signs of sleep or happiness.
She didn’t want anyone to feel sorry for her; she had earned what was happening to her.
"I want to stay in this misery." She grumbled to herself. "I deserve this," She sighed deeply in guilt.
Suddenly, the door burst open, causing her to gasp in surprise and struggle to get to her feet.
Her eyes almost popped out of their sockets, and her heart dropped out of her mouth as she saw the last person she had ever expected to see.
"Dear Lianna," Ashton said as he entered the room, a small chuckle in his voice.
His clothes were bloodstained, his eyes were completely black, with no trace of white, and his expression was solemn and menacing.
"How many years has it been?" He inquired casually.
Lia trembled with fear and took shaky steps backwards. "I am not coming with you." She stumbled.
Ashton laughed and sighed. "Unfortunately, I did not ask."
