Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 32: Escape 1
Cyrus tilted his head to the side, smirked and sat on the bed. He picked the book and flipped it open.
"Are you sure?" He asked casually.
Sage stared at him in awe not expecting him to be so calm.
"There is no way I am going to let you use this mark to your advantage." She snapped at him.
"Well, I am." Cyrus hissed and turned his gaze to her.
Sage blinked rapidly pressing her lips.
She felt doomed but she wasn’t going to let him step on her and continue using her like she was his puppet.
"Okay!" She exclaimed dramatically and stood on the bed.
Cyrus stared at her dully then returned his gaze back to the book.
"I will give you myself willingly." She announced confidently.
"And?" Cyrus asked and flipped a page open.
Sage inhaled deeply and lowered her head, dizzy and exhausted. She shook her head as she stood on her ground, ready to make a decision that would save her kingdom.
"You will have what you want.. my fire core.. a child if it’s possible to produce one within two months.." She paused and cleared her throat knowing what she uttered was very absurd. "You will have every authority kill me.. but let me save my kingdom." She voiced, barely.
Cyrus closed the book making sure it made a loud sound then snapped a cold gaze at Sage who looked solemn and a bit hopeful.
"Dumb as a rock and eventually deaf." He hissed and rolled his eyes.
Sage’s eyes filled with tears as she imagined how her father, aunt Lia, Darren.. They had no idea what was coming for them.
What if they were already attacked and Sage didn’t know about it?
She felt like she was the cause if their burden, falling into such a trap.
"Plea..se." Her voice shook.
"Your kingdom does not need saving." Cyrus growled, grabbed her leg, and drew her close to him.
Sage allowed herself to be dragged onto his lap and stared into his blue slit eyes, which radiated only dark emotions.
Cyrus locked his gaze on the parrot, whose eyes were filled with tears that threatened to spill. Her lips were quivering, and her heart was racing faster than usual, most likely due to the lust she felt for him.
She was naive and easily duped, and Cyrus saw it as a sad and pathetic trait of hers.
"You love seeing me hopeless." Sage uttered weakly.
"I do not feel anything in this state." Cyrus replied nonchalantly and Sage moved a gaze to him, her eyes unblinking. "At least not love, sadness, happiness, anger and whatever." He added maintaining the flatness in his voice.
"You are still not different to me." Sage expressed and frowned. "You are heartless in both states."
"You want to know things about me but pride won’t let you." Cyrus stated and rolled his eyes.
"Pride?" Sage questioned and forced a laughter. "I do not have pride." She growled.
Cyrus grabbed her chin and pushed her head up. "Pride and stupidity blinded by unnecessary emotions." He spoke with full distaste.
"Do not speak to me like that." Sage smacked his hand but it didn’t budge.
"Arrogant." Cyrus growled, grabbed her neck and crashed his lips on hers.
Sage whimpered and caught his lips, but she let go when she felt his grip tighten around her neck.
"You never understand." Cyrus whispered against her lips, released her neck, and flicked her forehead before she could react, knocking her out.
He positioned her in the bed and wrapped a blanket around her.
"Unfortunate." He muttered and walked away to the balcony.
He stood motionless, staring at the moon in a starless sky. The seemingly lonely moon was reflecting in his eyes, as if it were a feature of his eyes.
"Time seems slow." He whispered and closed his eyes as a bright glow engulfed him and he turned back to his normal state. "Very slow." He whispered and placed his hand on his chest where he could feel his unbeating heart.
...
Sage opened her eyes to see two large blue slit eyes staring at her. She wasn’t scared because it was Snowflake, the adorable little nine-tailed fox.
She shifted into a sitting position, groaning, and looked around the room, which was empty of Cyrus and his demon panthers.
She jumped out of bed, put on her shoes from the side of the bed, ran to the wardrobe, and took out a white large furry hooded coat and comfy mittens, which she wore.
She wasn’t going to let Cyrus stop her from saving her kingdom, as she had always done.
She dashed to the balcony and climbed the railing, sighing as the cold breeze soaked her coat and body.
The sky was lightening up, signalling the approaching dawn. Her mind was racing as she hoped Cyrus wouldn’t appear out of nowhere to stop her or worse, seduce her.
She turned slowly when she heard a snarl and saw Snowflake on the ground staring at her innocently.
Did the nine-tailed fox want to come with her?
She knew it wasn’t a good idea but he was just so cute.
"Come." She smiled, jumped off the railing and carried the nine tailed fox in her arms then climbed back on the railing.
When she saw Cyrus and Ashton speaking to each other directly below, her eyes went to the ground and her heart almost dropped out of her mouth.
"Absolutely not." She laughed nervously, jumped off the railing and ran back into room.
"Please do not make any noise." She begged the nine tailed fox and opened the door slowly.
She walked out and took hurried steps down the long, dark hallway. She was quickly at the stairs that connected to the room that openly led to the exit.
Sage had taken note of a few routes in the castle because Ava had always taken her to the dining room.
Guards were going around the castle, past Sage, and it appeared that their concentration was elsewhere because they didn’t notice her. She squeaked and nearly froze in horror as her heart flipped many times, making her pray that she would not have a heart attack and die.
She ran out and hid behind a carriage before fleeing gleefully. The path to the castle’s great gate was lengthy, but Sage did her hardest to be quick, despite how weak she felt from the mark of lust and the large hooded coat she was wearing. She struggled to control her haggered breathing till she arrived at the gate, where she saw Arthur, who stood in front of her with a creepy yet bright smile, as if he had been waiting for her.
Sage suddenly came to a halt, caught her breath, and her heart nearly flew out of her mouth.
He fixed his gaze on her and inquired, "Heading somewhere, my queen?" before moving his gaze to the nine-tailed fox
