Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 189: Charlotte’s Issues
Back in the castle, Mirabella was addressing some of the castle guards in the throne room. She was surrounded by about twenty of them, who all appeared to be stern and intimidating. There had been peace in both the castle and the city since Cyrus, Sage, Ashton, River, and Katherine left for Leimpia. Mirabella had peace of mind because the temperature was not as high as usual, and there had been no reports of any strange attacks or anything similar to that. Still, she suspected that Leimpia was in disarray and couldn’t help but wonder what was going on there.
She sighed deeply and spoke with ease, her stiff expression softening. "You can all go back to your stations now." She told them, and they all bowed their heads, turned away, and walked out of the throne room.
"This isn’t as difficult as I thought." She turned to face the throne, smiling to herself. "Antica is becoming stronger...." She finished her sentence slowly.
Even though the Kingdom was growing stronger, the most powerful beings had vanished. The ice dragons. The royal family just seemed odd and incomplete.
"We should be expecting an heir soon." Behind her, she heard her mother say.
Mirabella let out a long sigh. "There should be no rush for that, especially given Cyrus’ unusual origin of having three souls." She didn’t think it was a good idea for a child to appear right now, but who was she to interfere?
"Peace is far away from Antica, my child," Charlotte said quietly, and Mirabella could hear her even closer. She was directly behind her. Her mother’s rage was palpable, causing her eyes to narrow as she gazed at the large throne made of silver and sapphire-colored plush.
"You do not like peace, mother, and you never have." Mirabella spoke up without hesitation and turned to face her mother, who slapped her across the cheek.
"You are endorsing that ingrate! I raised him as my son! I backed him up! I shaped him into the man he is today, but what has he done to repay me?! He elevated that demon above the level of your father! Our entire family was wiped out by him! He almost killed your twin sister Isabella and killed your father!" Charlotte screamed angrily and landed another slap on Mirabella’s second cheek, sending Mirabella flying and landing her back on the stairs leading to the throne.
Mirabella screamed in agony as blood rolled out her nose from the slaps, causing tears to blur her vision.
"Stop it!" She screamed. "You are concerned about yourself! You have always been concerned with yourself! You have never thought about me, Isabella, not even Father, whom you continue to love even after he cheated on you!" Mirabella screamed in rage and pushed herself to her feet.
She wiped the blood from her nose and the tears from her eyes as she glared at Charlotte, who was furious.
"Doesn’t it enrage you to see me wielding authority?" She inquired, laughed, and shook her head in disbelief.
"How dare you say such things to your mother?! Can’t you see I am in pain?! I recently lost your father, and you..." Charlotte burst into tears as she saw Mirabella’s rage.
"Me?" Mirabella intervened and took a long step towards her mother, tears streaming down her cheeks. "You claimed you raised him as your son, but you were the one who poisoned his meals! You are also the one who persuaded father to starve and torture him until he went insane and died. You always planned with those who wanted to hurt him, but when they failed, you pretended to care for him because you were afraid of losing his trust, which he had and still has in you! You promised me when I was a little girl that you would make sure I married him... you made me and Isabella fantasize about having to spend our lives with him, and we fell in love with him to the point where we both went insane when he unexpectedly married the fire mage!" Mirabella ranted, beads of sweat formed on her brow, his eyes transformed into a yellow reptile-like form, sharp and ferocious, and Charlotte’s eyes were wide in shock, capable of causing a heart attack.
"How do you... You?" She tried to speak, but her words were only beginning to form.
"I am no longer a child, mother; I know a lot of things, and I know you had a hand in Aurora’s death."
With an ear-piercing shriek, Charlotte stormed towards Mirabella, grabbing her hair and staring at her with bloodshot eyes. "You are not going to tell anyone." She hissed menacingly.
Mirabella scoffed, grabbed her mother’s wrist, and pushed her away from her. "Please do not touch me!" She screamed, inhaled, and rearranged her gleaming blonde hair to its normal state. "You have always been a disgusting mother, and for your own safety, I advise you to leave the castle and stay away from I and Isabella. She is not going to marry whoever you choose for her." She added calmly this time.
Mirabella hadn’t expected her calm morning to begin with her mother slapping her. But she was relieved that she had said something.
She’d had enough. Her relationship with her parents had never been normal, and now that her father was gone, she had had enough of pretending.
Charlotte began heaving for breath in rage, but Mirabella, not wanting to hear any more nonsense, turned her gaze to the throne room’s entrance, where Stefan and Isabella stood, looking as if they had seen a ghost.
"Shit!" Mirabella exclaimed loudly. "Did they hear everything?" She inquired thinking out loud.
"You!" Charlotte screamed behind her and Mirabella turned to see her mother running towards her like a total psychopath. "I am going to kill you!"
Stefan appeared just in time, holding Charlotte’s wrist tightly, his eyes in their purple reptile form, and this time he looked angry as he asked, "What in hell is going on here?!"
