Chapter 159: Blooming feelings?

"Okay..." Cyrus exhaled a deep breath.

Dammit! He didn’t realize he couldn’t stop himself from falling in love with her.

He wasn’t surprised by his feelings for her, but he couldn’t handle it.

"Go to bed." He told her calmly, turned away from her, and entered the bathing room.

Sage walked towards the bed, controlling her unsteady legs slowly, and she lay comfortably on it.

Her mind had gone completely blank after that intense kiss, and all she wanted to do was dream about it and relive it over and over.

In no time, she fell asleep.

Cyrus walked out of the bathing room, raking his wet hair with his fingers. His gaze was drawn to his wife, who was already fast asleep. He walked to the window and closed it with dark curtains, then to the bed and sat beside his wife.

He could see her perfect face and her red slightly swollen heart-shaped lips despite the darkness of the room. He smiled as he placed his thumb on her lips. He would have done anything to hear those sweet moans if she hadn’t stopped him. He couldn’t get enough of her lips, and she was an addiction. He felt he had become drunk as a result of her taste.

A knock on the door interrupted him. He drew his gaze to the door, which opened slightly, revealing Arthur, who appeared nervous.

"Your Majesty, Reagan requires your presence immediately."

Cyrus nodded and returned his gaze to his wife, then wrapped her in the blanket and climbed out of bed. He dressed in a black fur cloak.

"Keep an eye on her and make sure she eats." His voice was deep and ominous.

"Yes, Your Majesty." Arthur sighed, bowed his head, and before he could raise his head, Cyrus had left the room.

Arthur approached the bed and looked at Sage, who was fast asleep. He noticed her lips were swollen and smiled as he realized what had happened.

Cyrus seemed to care about her, which Arthur found surprising given Cyrus’ dark state.

Arthur had heard from the other warriors that Cyrus had killed five thousand warriors with his bare hands. Though Arthur didn’t feel sorry for them because they were all betrayals, he did feel sorry for Sage and kept wondering.

"Why would he spare her life if he wouldn’t spare his own?"

He took a deep breath and exited the room, gently closing the door behind him.

...

When she opened her eyes, she didn’t see Cyrus by her side and realized she had been sleeping all day. It was already the next day!

She had no idea how she felt after what had happened between her and Cyrus, and she had no idea why she was thinking about it so much.

"Where has he gone?" She asked slowly, settling into a sitting position.

A knock on the door made her look at the door in anticipation, but Cyrus never knocked. Her excitement vanished almost instantly.

The door opened, and Arthur entered, carrying a tray of steaming breakfast. He walked over to the bed, a smile on his face.

"Good day, Sage." He greeted her and handed her the tray of food, which she slowly collected.

"Where is he?" Sage inquired, her gaze fixed on the food.

"He left the mansion with Ashton, Prince River, Prince Reagan, and a few warriors last night. You should eat, he will be back for sure," Arthur replied, sighing deeply.

"I think he is trying to get away from me!" Sage exclaimed with a sniff.

"Perhaps he is fighting his blossoming feelings for you; who wouldn’t fall for you?" Sage smiled faintly as Arthur asked with a light chuckle.

"Cheesy." She scoffed and turned to face him.

"You should eat first, and then I will take you on a tour to take your mind off him for a while." He assuredly whispered to her.

Sage gave a nod. "Who is Prince Reagan?" She inquired, recalling the man she had met the day before. "He does not appear to be a fire dragon," she added.

"He is what you call a shadow dragon." Sage’s eyes widened as Arthur revealed himself with ease.

"A shadow dragon? They are so quiet that many people are unaware that they still exist!" Arthur smiled as Sage exclaimed.

"Prince Reagan of Esmond, his majesty’s friend." Arthur gradually revealed himself.

"He always has these mysterious powerful friends." Sage muttered something.

"Unfortunately, he isn’t friends with Celestia’s Alpha heir." Arthur laughed.

"Celestia... the kingdom of the wolves." Sage let out a sigh.

"Think little and eat a lot. There are clothes in the closet; get ready soon." He spoke softly to her, and she smiled and nodded.

Sage ate everything she wanted, took a bath, and dressed in a royal dark gown, brushing her hair and looking stunning.

She was staring at her reflection and pointing at herself when she heard a knock on the door.

"Please come in." Her tone was soft and low.

Arthur smiled brightly as he opened the door.

"I am afraid His Majesty will not be returning to the mansion." He informed them.

"Oh. Alright." She sounded and appeared depressed.

Arthur swallowed and cleared his throat.

"Would you like a tour, my Queen?" He speculated that he hoped she would still agree for leisure.

"Um... Do you have a library?" Sage inquired, perplexed. Arthur noticed a glint in those emerald eyes.

He responded with an even brighter smile. "Certainly, my lady."

Sage blinked quickly and looked away, as if debating whether or not to leave. She then realized that if she read a book, her loneliness would vanish.

She returned Arthur’s look of excitement, which made him relax.

"I will eat my lunch there." Her voice tried but failed to light up. Arthur was relieved to see her gradually coming out of her shell.

They exited the room and entered the hallway. Sage fiddled with her fingers as she reflected on Cyrus. She had been wondering where he had gone but had not asked Arthur. She couldn’t help but think that it was because she had broken the kiss that he had left so abruptly.

He was fighting his growing feelings for her?

Sage needed a strategy.
