Chapter 244: About Enim

Abi returned to the drawer, grabbed another item, and then, in the next instant, put on a pair of sunglasses.

The moment she left the mansion, elegantly dressed, she took care to ensure that none of the household staff noticed her movements. However, unbeknownst to her, as she stepped outside, a photographer on the roof of a nearby building captured images of Abi from the time she exited the house until she entered the car.

She exited the mansion on her own, opting to drive herself, while a small car lingered outside, ready for her arrival.

As soon as she departed, the driver in the small car, who had been watching her, started the engine and began to tail Abi.

The driver kept a cautious distance, ensuring that Abi wouldn’t become aware of his presence. While maintaining his focus on the road, he extended a hand towards the infotainment system’s screen to answer an incoming call.

"Are you following her?" inquired the voice on the other end.

"Yes, boss. She’s just left the house. I’m doing my utmost to ensure she remains unaware. She’s following the directions perfectly. Boss," the driver reported. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Alright then," the other person replied, and with that, the call was disconnected.

Abi drove for quite some time before finally halting at the gates of a Catholic church. The driver tailing her also came to a stop, contemplating ways to monitor her actions. Before proceeding, he grabbed his phone and sent a voice message to the person who had instructed him to follow her.

"Boss, she’s currently parked at a Catholic church. I’m waiting for her to finish whatever she’s up to there," the driver reported to his boss.

At the next instant, the boss called after listening to the voice message. The man who was trailing Abi concentrated his gaze on her but also ensuring to listen to the instructions of his boss.

"Get out of the car. I need you to enter that church no matter what and discover what she’s planning. Ensure you keep track of her, understood?" instructed the boss over the phone, as the driver nodded in agreement.

In the following moment, a tall, robust man with dark skin strode confidently through the church gates. Keeping his cool demeanor, he put on sunglasses and approached the entrance. There, the security guard questioned his presence, prompting the man to produce a card from his pocket.

He showed it to the security personnel, their eyes widening at the sight of his ID on the card he presented, and then he was allowed to enter the church.

He quietly entered the church, moving cautiously as he realized a service was underway. He made his way to the side and sat down on one of the benches, his eyes scanning the surroundings in search of Abi.

But then at the same time, he had his phone in his hand, informing his boss of his recent movement.

It was a jiffy but then at the same time it didn’t make him recognize the time Abi had casually stridden by his seat.

Meanwhile, Abi approached a seat in the church despite the ongoing sermon by the Pope. She took her place cautiously, observing the Pope as he delivered his message, yet her attention subtly shifted to the person sitting next to her on the pew.

She needed to behave like this so she could look like one of the members of the church.

She patiently waited for the individual next to her to acknowledge her presence in some way, but the person remained still, focused on the Pope as he carried on with his ministration.

Abi continued to wait patiently until, after some time, she felt a tap on her finger. The person she sat down with and has been waiting for used this gesture as a way to start a conversation with her.

Abi glanced sideways, careful not to make direct eye contact with the person, worried that either of them might have been tailed.

Eventually, the individual withdrew her finger from Abi and briskly walked away from the church grounds, disappearing into one of the corridors.

In the next moment, she continued to trail the woman that she sat with and had been following, until she was led into the church’s confession room.

Abi gazed into the emptiness, noting its silence, and made her way to the chair positioned by the wooden barrier that kept her out of sight from the other individual.

"Hello, can you hear me?" Abi asked softly, as she took her place on the seat, waiting for an answer.

"Do you really think this will go as planned?" she asked again.

A moment passed before she heard any response, the quietness starting to unsettle her.

"Are you actually here? Why aren’t you saying anything?" Abi inquired once more.

"Enim was a close friend of mine, always believing she could obtain whatever she desired," the woman on the other end finally said.

"Was she overly ambitious in her pursuit of her goals?" Abi asked, hearing the woman on the other end laugh incredulously.

"If anyone could relate to enduring hell and emerging on the other side, it was Enim. Her existence teetered on the brink of despair, clinging to the hope of rediscovering life."

"Wasn’t she connected to Vixen somehow? What was the nature of her relationship with him?"

The woman on the opposite side chuckled before speaking, "Vixen was someone who assisted Enim. Indeed, she was linked to him. She was meant to be his wife. Also, how is it that you aren’t aware of this?"

"Vixen erased all traces related to Enim, ensuring her story remained concealed. He retained everything about her, making her past inaccessible. Even when I sought information from certain officials, I couldn’t fathom how Vixen accomplished it. There was no information available about Enim."

"I’ve been wanting to ask, how does Enim’s role in this story help at all?"

"I appreciate keeping this conversation private. I’m just curious, where was Enim discovered? How did Enim and Vixen come to meet?"

"They met at my old workplace."

"Where did you work before?" Abi inquired, but the woman suddenly fell silent.

"I’m not sure, but if I can piece together the clues, I might uncover something, or maybe someone. Perhaps then I could prove Vixen’s innocence." Addison added, hoping she would speak up.

"Right, I heard Vixen was imprisoned. How did that happen?"

"It just happened, besides, right at this moment is something I’m shocked about and I can’t explain."

"You don’t need to worry though, the Vixen that I know always in some way finds a way out of his problems."

"No, actually. I’m not worrying, I just want to fulfill a promise to Arthur. I need him to know his mother is there always, and whatever happens, I’m capable of solving the problem. And yeah, I’m sure Enim would want that," Addison commented but then at the next moment, the place fell totally silent.

Abi’s face was marked by a frown, worried by the person’s complete silence. She started to wonder what might have occurred.

"Are you there?" Abi asked.

"Are you still there?" she repeated, rising from her seat, ready to depart. Suddenly, she paused, startled by the woman’s voice again.

This time, she noticed a woman clad in a blue mini gown, a shawl draped over her head, and wearing sunglasses similar to Abi’s.

"I want to see the woman I’m going to be speaking with," the woman said calmly.

"You’re already looking at me," Abi replied, her tone carrying a hint of defiance.

"No, actually I simply wish to meet the woman who replaced Enim. I’m not here to harm you."

"How about you remove your mask first?" Abi proposed.

She noticed the woman take a deep breath before exhaling. In the next moment, the woman reached for the shawl covering her face, loosening it to reveal her features to Abi. Then, she removed her glasses.

Abi gazed at the woman with the pale complexion, noticing a tattoo directly above her eyebrow. She appeared slender, and her features exuded an air of sophistication.

"Are you certain now? May I finally see you?" the woman inquired.

Abi gazed at the woman for a moment, and then, in response, she untied the shawl from around her face and took off her sunglasses.

"You—I’ve seen you before, you seem familiar," the woman said, slightly taken aback as Abi wore a frown.

"I don’t believe we’ve met before. We’ve only been introduced through mutual connections, so what’s the reason behind your comments?"

"I’m sorry for the confusion. I didn’t mean that we know each other by meeting in person. You didn’t actually see me; you saw Enim, but that was just a single time."

Abi furrowed her brow, bewildered by the unexpected turn of events; she hadn’t anticipated things unfolding like this.

"What do you mean?" Abi asked, her expression puzzled as she gazed at the woman.

"One day, you were either in search of something or on the verge of making a purchase near the brothel when you suddenly found yourself trapped."
