Chapter 227: Ten steps ahead

"So, what are you going to do, Vixen?" Matthew stated after listening to what had transpired from Vixen.

He had a frown on his face as he walked towards the stool at the bar area of his workplace.

"Vixen, she called you but doesn’t she know what she’s getting herself into?"

"As much as I know that I have every power over her, I can’t help but think why she’s doing this. She isn’t in compare to me but she’s doing it," Vixen stated calmly as he raised his head from resting his palm.

His eyes shot at Matthew as they sat on opposite of the stools.

"Are you sure that’s she’s weak, Vixen?"

"That’s it." He heaved a deep breath and then transferred his hand to his chin.

"She wouldn’t have called me that easily, and besides, Abi, why did she have to go and talk with her?"

"Vixen, I know that you may feel like everything is awkward but trust me I have this feeling that Abi knows what she’s doing —"

"But she doesn’t know who she’s going to be messing with, for crying out sake I could have done all that. Why would she involve herself with that girl. "

" I know you must feel worried, but you have to see it from Abi’s view. She’s feeling concerned about what is happening in Arthur’s life and that’s why she had to do her best to make sure her son is okay. But the only thing that Abi is not knowing at the moment that her life may be at risk. I’m sure that Mia would try and do something with her. "

Vixen gave a grimace, her turned to him trying to understand what he meant.

" Vixen, when we looked up the files Mia had with the IMF, we discovered that she’s the niece of Mina. "

" Mina? "

" She’s my mother and Sebastian’s mother, Abi’s step mother. "

" Your mother? "

Matthew simply nodded.

" Wait, how come you didn’t know a thing about her? "

" Well, me and my mother don’t relate that much, I’ve been close to Mina ever since I was young, she was more like my not so-mother. The mother which I thought would be concerned about me was more about material outfits, jewelries. She behaved to be a decent mum in front of my father but at the background she never spared the chance to insult Abi. "

" So, what does Mia’s relationship has to do with the IMF? "

Matthew heaved a deep breath to explain.

He entwined his fingers with one another, he locked gazed with Vixen.

"Within the IMF they have the board of directors and these people who are among do not take decisions at the court. They make decisions at the background. Mina is among this board of directors, and who do you think would be next to take decisions at the IMF."

"So, Mina is also in control of the IMF?"

"And the biggest donator at that."

Vixen heaved a deep breath as he massaged his temple.

" That’s why she had the guts to do as she did. That’s why she was confident despite knowing my position. "

Vixen blurted.

" But Vixen, we still have control, we have the details of the company so we could still use our way to control the IMF without them knowing. "

" I know but as of the moment, I’m more worried about what might happen to Abi. "

" Why don’t you let her be guarded, you could do that, right? "

" No, your sister might feel annoyed. Besides, she’ll feel suspicious about the matter. "

" You’re right. "

" But that doesn’t mean my civilian men can’t do their job, " Vixen stated like the idea lit up his face, he turned his gaze to Matthew with a smile.

"So, you knew about this a long time ago?" Matthew gasped.

"Believe me when I say I’ve forgotten about them, when you spoke about them, I remembered at that moment. I know there’s no way I can always be with Abi but with the best I could I did that."

" Now the only thing we have to do is find a way that we could put that mistress in her place. "

" How are we going to do that? " Matthew tried to inquire but before he could speak, he was interrupted by the sound of Vixen’s phone.

Vixen’s gaze averted as he checked his pocket retrieving it from his breast pocket and then he saw the notification on the phone.

It was a message from an anonymous number.

A frown formed on Vixen’s face as he views the content of the message just to be shocked to see it was photos of a woman and someone else.

His expression twitched while he gently magnified the picture of the woman sitting with a man in a coffee shop.

Vixen was unable to recognize the woman because she had a scarf and shades on, but he felt like he knew the man she was talking to.

"What happened, Vixen?" Matthew asked curiously noticing the sudden change of expression.

Vixen swiftly switched the phone for it to be seen as Matthew squinched his eyes to see the picture.

Once it became close to him, he stuttered in awe.

"Isn’t that Sebastian?"

"You mean your brother?" Matthew nodded.

"If that’s Sebastian, do you think that woman could be Abi?"

Matthew managed to speak as he stared at Vixen wanting an answer.

"Trace the location from which this number came from," Vixen stated as he handed his phone to him and then he hurriedly walked up to the software connecting the phone to the computer and then he began to do his process.

"Who’s the person?" Vixen stated anxiously as he walked forward so he could look at the screen and then he turned to Matthew, his hands on his waist.

They both have the same thoughts.

"You know what this mean," Matthew stated as they looked at the location.

Just when they spoke, another message popped up but since it was connected to the computer, it displayed on the screen.

"Game over," the next message popped up.

Vixen heaved a deep breath and then folded his hands just to turn to Matthew, a glint of cruelty surfaced his stare which vanquished all sanity that was left within him.

"I think I’ll have to show her whose position is supposed to be recognized," Vixen stated as he raised his hand to massage his temple breathing under his breath. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"Mia! Mia, wait now!!" Sebastian called as he ran through the halls to get to her.

Since they moved into the apartment, he hasn’t been speaking to her, yet he desperately needed her to support his choice.

He was scared for her and at the same time for the two but it seems no body was willing to hear what he was saying.

He took a hand of the woman who paced her steps and then turned her around.

"Mia, would you just listen to me," he gasped as he released his hand from her wrist.

"What do you want to say? That I should go ahead?"

"That’s it, Mia. If you really know you want to get your revenge for what she had done, then listen don’t attack her now. I feel like Abi knows everything that is happening and she’s waiting for the right time to strike you."

A twitch on Mia’s face and then she burst into laughter.

She raised a hand to cover her mouth, another hand laid on her stomach.

"Really? You think that girl has anything to get to me? I’m your older cousin for crying out sake. I know more than you do and if I go after someone, what makes you think I’ll not be able to accomplish my goal. Just because she’s with Vixen? " Mia shook her head and then she squinched her eyes as fury mixed in her expression, she clenched her hands.

"Abi revealed to me that not everyone thinks or acts alike, which is why I needed to strategize meticulously. This time, I won’t just pursue my objective in a typical manner; instead, I’ll ensure that alongside her, she faces the consequences. Her reputation in front of Vixen will be thoroughly tarnished and dragged through the mud."

"What do you intend to do?" Sebastian attempted to comprehend her question, but the significance behind her words remained elusive.

Mia drew in a long, deep breath before deliberately clicking her heels as she walked towards Sebastian. With a graceful touch, she placed her delicate fingers on the curve of his shoulder.

As she slowly circled around him, her fingertips traced every contour of his form, lingering over each detail. When she finally stood before him, a playful smirk appeared on her face.

"Once you discover what I’ve accomplished, you’ll grasp the full picture. For the moment, however, simply observe the festivities. Pay close attention, absorb the lessons from those more experienced, and perhaps," she lifted her hand and lightly tapped her fingertip against his temple.

"You’ll become a smarter than you are now. You’ll learn the difference between the people who are concerned about making achievements and the people who are ten steps ahead of what they are doing."
