Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Cousin-Chapter 760: Encountered a Robber_1
"Mom." Bai Liyan knew his mother was just concerned about him. "I know what you want to say, but now, I have let go. I won’t have any other thoughts about Ji Yunhuan, so you don’t have to worry."
"Really?" Auntie sounded skeptical.
"Of course it’s true." Bai Liyan said, "You want me to get married, right? I can get married. I can marry anyone."
He knew that to completely rid himself of Ji Yunhuan’s shadow, he had to start a new life happily.
Seeing him say this, Auntie looked troubled. "Where am I supposed to find someone on such short notice? Even if you want to get married, you should find someone suitable, right?"
"There won’t be anyone suitable." Bai Liyan smiled bitterly. "After everything, I understand that not everyone in this world finds true love. Even if they do, not everyone can be with the one they love. Only a few truly end up together. The rest are just supporting roles."
"Silly child, why do you think like this?"

"Just got back, feeling tired, right? Go take a bath. I made something delicious for you today."
Bai Liyan was indeed very tired, so he went upstairs.
After the bath, he came out wrapped in a towel, with droplets of water sliding down his body.
He walked to the desk and picked up his constantly ringing cell phone. Seeing the caller’s name, he couldn’t help but pause.
He pressed the answer key. "Who is it?"
"It’s me." A familiar and pleasant female voice answered, "Gu You. What, you forgot about me again? It hasn’t been that long, has it?"
"No, I didn’t forget." During this time, Gu You had drawn him a lot of pictures, all sent to his email. She was very skillful and dedicated many drawings to Bai Liyan hoping to lift his spirits.
Although the effect was not obvious, Bai Liyan had to admit that he felt somewhat healed by the girl.
Gu You asked, "Are you free tomorrow night?"
"No."
"I released a new book. The sales are pretty good. I’m holding a celebration party tomorrow night. Will you come? You’re not still thinking about your girlfriend, are you?" Not hearing Bai Liyan’s response, Gu You added, "Come on, please? I’m inviting you very seriously!"
Her voice was like that of a radio host, perfect enough to make people swoon.
Bai Liyan listened for a long moment and nodded. "Alright, if I’m free, I’ll come."
"I’ll send you the address." Gu You chuckled and then hung up.
Surprisingly, the celebration party was in C City, though he distinctly remembered that Gu You’s home was in City A.
Bai Liyan was in a daze for a while when Gu You’s call came again.
This time, Bai Liyan spoke first. "You’re in C City?"
"Yes! I called to tell you, you can give me your ID, and I’ll book the flight for you!"
"..." Bai Liyan smiled. "I just arrived in C City today."
"No way? What a coincidence?" Gu You said in surprise. "Where are you? I’ll come to find you."
"But..." It didn’t seem proper for a girl to come find him.
Bai Liyan was about to say something when Gu You said, "But I have something to do right now. I might come later, but too late, and it wouldn’t be convenient to disturb you. Let’s meet tomorrow then!"
"..." Bai Liyan thought, does this girl’s mind jump too fast?
Just after finishing the call with Gu You, the servant downstairs called him. Bai Liyan had already changed his clothes.
Since it was rare for him to come back, his mother made a lavish dinner. Even Uncle Bai was present today.
It was rare for the three of them to sit together.
Uncle Bai rarely saw Bai Liyan. He probably knew about the troubles Bai Liyan had caused recently and couldn’t help but lecture him.
"You’re not a kid anymore. Find a girlfriend quickly. Don’t waste your time on impossible things."
Bai Liyan felt a bit frustrated. "Girlfriends aren’t like cabbage at the market. You can’t just find one."
"With your conditions, isn’t it easy to find a girl? Our relationship with the Qi Family isn’t as simple as you think. You’ve been friends with Qi Cheng for many years. To fall out over a woman, what sense does that make?"
"Why are you bringing this up again?" Auntie gave Uncle Bai a look.
She didn’t want Uncle Bai to always be so harsh on Bai Liyan.
Bai Liyan remained silent.
He knew he was wrong, and terribly so. Therefore, even though his father lectured him, he humbly accepted it.
After being scolded for a long while, the meal finally ended.
Bai Liyan put down his bowl. "I’m finished."
"Get some rest."
"I know." Bai Liyan was about to go upstairs to rest when Gu You called again. "Dr. Bai, are you free?"
"What’s up?" Bai Liyan frowned.
Gu You sounded anxious. "My bag was stolen. All my documents were in it. I don’t have any relatives in C City, and I only remembered your phone number."
"Are you okay?"
"I’m at the police station, but I’m alone. Can you come over?"
Gu You’s voice sounded a bit pitiful.
She usually spoke very rationally, but now she sounded like a helpless child.
Bai Liyan thought for a moment. It wasn’t easy for a girl to be alone here. She had drawn so many pictures for him. He should do something in return.
He went straight to find Gu You.
When he saw Gu You standing at the police station entrance, looking lost and helpless, Bai Liyan walked over. Her eyes immediately lit up.
Bai Liyan saw her barefoot, her shoe nowhere to be seen. Her jeans were tattered in places. "Are you hurt?"
"My things were stolen. I chased after them, but I fell." Gu You complained, "Don’t you think I’m unlucky?"
"I don’t think you’re unlucky." Bai Liyan glanced at her distressed look. "I think you’re foolish! What’s the point of chasing down a thief for your stuff? Do you know how dangerous that was?"
If the thief had let her catch up, would she have come out unharmed?
Gu You frowned at his words. "I guess you’re right! But all my documents were in it, my money too. Now..." She spread her hands. "What do you think I should do?"
"What do you want to do?" Bai Liyan could sense there was more to her words.
Gu You grinned. "I want to stay at your place for the night. The police said they’ll try to get my things back by tomorrow."
Bai Liyan looked at her. With her long hair and not very prominent features, her whole face was still lovely. Any other man would have been moved long ago.
Bai Liyan, however, frowned. "A girl asking to stay at a man’s place, don’t you think that’s dangerous?"
Gu You smiled. "What’s the big deal? If you had any thoughts about me, I would have sensed it by now."
