Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 353: The Pulse
Chapter 353: The Pulse
Everyone exchanged glances—come to think of it, that really did make sense...
Jaxon might be a subordinate, but he and Logan had over a decade of friendship. With Jaxon unconscious, Logan was juggling both taking care of him and investigating the truth.
And yet Angelica, just because she was "pregnant," had the audacity to demand Logan choose between her and Jaxon. What was that supposed to mean? She hadn’t even secured her position yet and was already flaunting her so-called status?
"I saw online people saying Angelica and Mr. Reid are deeply in love. Now that he came to the hospital, they’re even more convinced the baby is his."
"But Mr. Reid didn’t even come for her..."
"Exactly. Gotta admit, she’s slick. And let’s not forget she’s got the ex-mistress-turned-wife Reid madam coaching her on the side."
Amelia’s eyes nearly rolled out of her head. "Shut up!"
Angelica clenched her jaw and clutched her stomach, clearly about to fake a fainting spell.
"Angelica," Selina suddenly grabbed her wrist, her gaze dark and sharp.
"You’d better take care of that baby. Don’t you dare pass out. That baby is important. With it, one day the truth will come out—like what happened four years ago. Don’t you think?"
"Ahh!" Angelica let out a high-pitched scream, cutting Selina off.
A sudden wave of terror crashed over her. Panic bubbled up uncontrollably. The fear of the truth being exposed—about the pregnancy, about the past—overwhelmed her. Angelica lashed out, shoving Selina with all her strength.
"Selina!"
Logan lunged forward, catching Selina firmly in his arms, his face like thunder. "Ethan," he said coldly, "I don’t want anyone disturbing Jaxon while he’s in the hospital."
"I understand," Ethan, as the hospital director, nodded. Around them, every doctor averted their eyes in guilt.
"Miss Morris, you have one hour to either check into obstetrics or discharge yourself. Otherwise, I will file a lawsuit for obstruction of hospital operations."
Amelia’s face flushed crimson. "Ethan—"
"No need to be so anxious, Mrs. Perry," Logan said, voice indifferent. "Wilson will be confessing any minute now. You should probably be praying he doesn’t drag anyone else down with him."
With that, Logan took Selina’s hand and strode out of the room.
Ethan gave a small nod and blocked Amelia’s path. "Mrs. Perry, Miss Morris, please leave now. Or this hospital will pursue legal action."
"You—you... fine. Very well! Ethan, don’t think the Drake Family’s little alliance with Logan means you’re untouchable. Siding against the Reid Family? You’ll regret it! Angelica, let’s go!"
Angelica bit her lip, unwilling but with no other choice, followed her out.

Logan watched their retreating backs with cold eyes. After a long silence, he spoke—his voice flat and emotionless, as if issuing a death sentence.
"Selina, Old Mr. Perry once had a talk with me."
Selina looked at him. Old Mr. Perry was Logan’s grandfather, but Logan had never called him that.
Because Anna’s death had Perry Family’s fingerprints all over it. They had taken in Amelia. They had enabled the deception that drove the real daughter, Anna, to her grave.
Selina squeezed Logan’s hand. "What did he say to you?"
"He said he knew Amelia was the reason I was abandoned. That he knew the first ten years of my life were hell. But he hoped that if she ever wronged me again, I’d spare her—for the sake of her being my ’biological mother.’"
"And now..."
Logan looked back toward Jaxon’s room. His words were calm, deliberate—each syllable a quiet verdict.
"I want her dead."
Amelia had ordered Manager Wilson to orchestrate the explosion at the manufacturing site to cause trouble for Logan, hoping the board would impeach him and clear the way for Owen to take over.
She never once considered whether there might be people there—whether anyone might die.
Or rather, she had considered it. She just didn’t care. Whether it was an ordinary employee or Jaxon’s life, none of it meant anything to her. All she cared about was her most beloved son inheriting Reid Group.
This time, it had only been Jaxon. But what about next time?
Selina nodded firmly. "She deserves to die."
Whether it was Amelia or Angelica, neither had ever valued human life. They acted like they were above it all—ruthless in pursuit of their goals. But why? Why should innocent people be trampled just so they could climb higher?
...
A few days later.
Ever since Reid Group’s official Twitter clarified that Logan had gone to the hospital not for Angelica, but for Jaxon, online discourse had shifted.
Some mocked Angelica’s shamelessness. Others started questioning whether this so-called "love story" of the mistress rising to power had ever been real.
That day, Selina accompanied Logan to the company. After wrapping up a business meeting, she overheard some staff gossiping nearby.
"Looks like Mrs. Reid is still the one in his heart. Mr. Reid really dotes on her."
"Don’t believe those online rumors. We all know what kind of relationship Mr. Reid has with the Reid Family. They’re the ones who like Angelica—Mr. Reid? Not a chance."
"What about Angelica’s baby, though?"
"Probably fake. And I heard Angelica’s at the company too. Think she’ll try to stir up trouble for Mrs. Reid?"
Selina lowered her eyes slightly. Angelica was here?
That day, she’d grabbed Angelica’s wrist on purpose—to check her pulse. And that pulse didn’t feel like a pregnant woman’s.
She suspected... Angelica might not be pregnant at all.
Selina stayed in the office for a while. Just before lunch, she was about to head out when someone knocked urgently.
"Mrs. Reid..."
...
Fifteen minutes earlier, Logan had decisively dealt with Manager Wilson. After the meeting, everyone was filing out when one of the board members suddenly gasped and turned to his assistant.
"What did you just say?"
The assistant swallowed nervously. "I—I heard that Manager Wilson wasn’t happy with Mr. Reid’s decision and... he might’ve gone to stir up trouble with Mrs. Reid..."
The board member looked horrified. "Mrs. Reid’s being harassed?!"
That one outburst turned every head in the room. Logan’s expression darkened.
The assistant stammered, "W-well, maybe not harassed exactly, just... Angelica and Manager Wilson are with her..."
That board member was a known Logan ally and had met Selina a few times. From what he’d heard, Logan was fiercely protective of her. And if she needed that much protection, she must be soft-natured.
In his mind, Selina was quiet, composed. Even with her Star identity, she never threw her weight around—just signed her contracts and left. That kind of temperament? Prime target for bullying.
The board member frowned. "What are you all doing, letting Wilson and Angelica go bother her? She’s so delicate—why didn’t someone step in?"
Jack, nearby, nearly choked: "...Delicate?"
The board member was about to suggest going over when he noticed Logan had already left—striding away at full speed.
The board and assistants scrambled to catch up.
...
Fifteen minutes earlier, just as Selina stepped out of her office, someone rushed up.
"Mrs. Reid—Angelica’s downstairs. She says she wants to see you. There’s a crowd gathering. Even some reporters... what should we do?"
Selina paused in her tracks. Angelica?
Leaving her at reception would only lead to some new stunt. If she was so eager to get slapped in the face in public—fine. Let her have it.
"Alright," Selina said with a pleasant smile. "Invite Angelica up."
