Manaless Mage-Chapter 276: Learning the truth[2]
Chapter 276: Learning the truth[2]
First, his consciousness travelled about 185 years into the future, immersing him in Leon’s life for about fifteen years, until it was the year 2415, when the celestials descended.
Yet now, he found himself sent back a whopping four hundred years into the past—from the time of the celestial’s arrival to the year 2015!
It was all quite confusing to him, and he could feel the little bits of things he had managed to piece together slowly falling apart again.
Roar!
While he was trying to make sense of the situation, a deafening roar suddenly reverberated in the air, jolting him out of his thoughts.
’Huh? This roar...’ Harry thought, his mind racing as he recognised the familiar sound.
The people below also heard the roar, even clearer than he did, and they all subconsciously paused in whatever they were doing.
Panic flashed through their hearts as they nervously glanced at one another, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound.
Some, feeling that something terrible was about to happen, broke into a sprint, following their instincts.
However, the others dismissed the roar as a stupid prank, laughing off the previous tension hanging in the air.
Roarr!!
As they were busy laughing and hurtling insults at whoever did such a prank, the roar abruptly sounded again, this time a lot more ferocious than before.
Bam!
A giant animal suddenly burst through the upper floors of a tall skyscraper at the end of the street, shattering the walls into pieces.
Thud!
The animal landed on the ground with a loud thud while the walls crumbled into pieces, sending debris and shattered glass to the ground.
"Ahhh!!"
"Help!!"
Screams of terror echoed in the air as the falling rubble crashed into the people standing close to the building, the glass piercing deep into their flesh.
Some of them weren’t even able to scream, as their lives were snuffed out of them within flesh.
Drip!
Blood flowed continuously out of their dead bodies, forming a small pool of blood beneath them.
The few who, luckily for them, weren’t crushed to death by the falling rubble quickly went into a panic, scrambling to get away from the giant beast.
As the dust cleared, the beast’s form was fully revealed to the crowd, and their eyes subconsciously widened at the sight.
It looked a little similar to a cat; however, its size was enormous, standing at a towering height of over three meters.
It had two large fangs jutting out of its mouth, as well as two long whiskers extending from the sides of its face.
Jutting out of its paws were long, sharp claws, scraping against the ground with the slightest movements of the creature.
With thick, reddish brown fur and a pair of thick, muscular limbs, its presence was extremely terrifying—a monster.
Roar!!
The cat monster raised its head up in the air, releasing a powerful roar that violently shook the air.
Panic erupted as the onlookers stared at the monstrosity that just appeared before them.
Screams filled the air as the people scrambled to escape, running away from the giant beast as fast as they could.
But unfortunately for them, the beast didn’t plan on staying still until they all escaped.
Growl!
Its head snapped towards those closest to it, letting out a deep growl as it suddenly pounced on them.
"Help!!" The shrill scream of a woman pierced through the air as the beast leapt towards her, closing the distance between them in an instant.
Chomp!
"Arrr—" Her scream was immediately cut off as the beast mercilessly chomped down on her, tearing away over half of her body with a single bite.
Splash!
Her blood sprayed on the ground with a sickening splash, along with a few pieces of mangled flesh and internal organs.
The remaining half of her body slowly collapsed to the ground, lying lifeless in a pool of her own blood.
The beast simply kept munching on her flesh without a care in the world, raising its head high in the air as it relished in the delicious taste bursting all around its tongue.
"W-what... is going on?!" A man shouted, his voice trembling with disbelief. He ran as fast as he could, even flinging the bag weighing him down to the side, in order not to end up like that woman.
Swoosh!
Splat!
However, he couldn’t even get very far, as the beast suddenly swiped one of its giant paws at him, effortlessly flattening his body to a paste.
The man didn’t even get a chance to scream; his life was snuffed out with his single strike.
More screams echoed in the air as the crowd of people ran even more desperately, their minds slowly falling into despair.
Friends abandoned each other, and even parents deserted their children, all in a bid to escape from the beast.
At that moment, only one thought occupied all their minds, and that was to get as far away as they could from the monster!
Some of them had already called the police in a bid to salvage the situation, but unfortunately, it didn’t seem like they would survive until the police arrived.
Screee!
However, their problems only seemed to pile up as a giant monkey suddenly appeared at the other end, screeching loudly into the air.
Blam!
The monkey swung his hand towards a building by its side, immediately flattening it into rubble.
The debris rained down to the ground, claiming the lives of a huge number of people by collapsing on them.
This one had spiky black fur and stood at a height of over three meters, slightly shorter than the giant cat.
Its eyes were bloodshot, and it had a pair of long, sharp fangs as well as a set of deadly claws.
The ones who thought they had already gotten far from the giant cat were immediately met with this new monster, their hearts sinking deep into despair.
Swoosh!
With a swift swing of its hand, the monkey sent many of them flying to their deaths, causing them to scream out in terror.
Meanwhile, Harry watched as the beasts mercilessly pounced on the people, his thoughts racing in shock.
All they could do was scream out in terror as the beasts tore their bodies apart, devouring their flesh in excitement.
’This is... a mana beast attack!’ Harry thought, his attention shifting back to the giant cat chomping down on anyone who appeared in its sight.
’And that one seems to be a stage four...’ He mumbled inwardly, staring at the mana beast in shock.
Now that he thought about it, 2015 was the year Mana first arrived in the world.
The year when the world entered the infamous "apocalypse ages" and had its first mana beast attack!
’To think I’m currently two hundred years in the past...’ Harry thought, his mind racing in shock.
Shriek!
Suddenly, a loud shriek reverberated behind him, breaking him out of his thoughts.
’Huh...?’ Harry mumbled inwardly, slowly turning behind him in surprise.
Flap!
His eyes met with the bloodshot ones of a giant bird, flapping its wings angrily in the air.
The bird had thick white fur, as well as a pair of huge wings, each spanning about one meter in length.
’Don’t tell me... it can see me?!’ Harry thought, staring at the mana beast in horror.
