Manaless Mage-Chapter 247: What is behind that door?
Chapter 247: What is behind that door?
"Sure." Harry mumbled in reply, and together, they both walked towards the door of the building.
Swish!
The moment they got to the door, it immediately slid open, parting the way for them to enter.
"Leon... you’re here." A man suddenly called unto them from the front, waving his hands at them.
It was a tall man with short brown hair and light brown eyes. He also had a thick beard, which ran down neatly across the sides of his face.
"Hey... dad." Harry muttered, slowly walking towards the man while pulling Leon along with him.
"Leon, how are you doing?" The man asked, extending a handshake towards the blonde haired boy.
"I’m doing fine sir." Leon shook his hand in response, bowing a little as he spoke.
Harry’s father was a stage five Elementalist, and while he might not be as powerful as his wife, he was still a popular adventurer.
"Hope you—"
"Come on dad... I’m fine." Harry said, cutting into the conversation.
He already knew what his father was about to say, and he knew if he let him finish it, Leon would use it to tease him to the grave.
So he swiftly cut in, in order to avoid further embarrassment.
"Fine. If you say so..." The man said, with a wry smile on his face. "It’s this way... that’s where your mom is."
Meanwhile, within Leon’s mind, the ’real’ Harry could only stare at the man in surprise.
’When I heard we’ll be meeting this Harry’s father... this surely isn’t what I was expecting.’ He thought.
The man didn’t look like his father... not at all!
At first, he had expected to see some resemblance between his father and this world Harry’s father, however, the difference between the two was like heaven and earth.
First, his father wasn’t tall and stood at an average height instead.
There was also the eye colour, which were practically opposite of themselves.
While this Harry’s father had brown eyes, his had black eyes, which was one of the traits he took from him.
And save for a light moustache which rested above his lips, his biological father didn’t have a speck of hair on his face.
For some reason, he doubted the situation would be much different with Harry’s mother in this world also.
After all, his biological mother didn’t even have a medium grade mana core, talk less of being an elemental mage.
It was strange... how huge the difference between both their parents were, yet he and this Harry somehow managed to look so similar in appearance.
That only solidified his thoughts; they might look very similar, but they were two completely different people.
’Now that I think about it... this Harry is the only similar thing between our worlds...’ Harry thought, finally realising that one thing.
This world was over a century in the future compared to the one he knew, and the technology was a lot more advanced than he remembered.
It wasn’t too surprised though, after all, they had a gap of over a hundred and fifty years between them.
Mana also arrived on this world a lot later than it did his, something which he found rather odd.
He hadn’t seen anybody or thing he found similar to his own world, save for Harry.
He didn’t understand why it was like that, and although he had a few inklings as to what might be going on, all they led to was more unanswered questions.
’I’ll just have to watch... so I get all the answers I need.’ Harry thought, focusing his attention back on this Harry’s father.
After walking for a few minutes, they took an elevator to the top floor of the building, which was where Harry’s mother was situated.
"Mr Morton... you’re finally here." A short man with long ginger hair slowly walked towards them, exchanging pleasantries with Harry’s father.
They then directed Harry and Leon away from them, moving to another place to have their conversation.
"So how is she...? Is she getting better?" He asked, staring at the man in hopes of getting a good response.
Although he had bern trying not to show it, in order for Harry to not lose hope, he was really worried about what was going on with his wife.
He didn’t understand anything about the illness... something which greatly scared him.
Besides, he was also worried about Harry, and how much all of this was taking a toll on him.
’He isn’t even allowed to see her...’ He thought, releasing a low sigh.
"About that..." The ginger haired man muttered, a sad glint flickering through his eyes.
"Her condition only keeps worsening... the corruption is rapidly spreading through her body." He said, and Harry’s father gasped in shock.
"I’m sorry... but at this rate, her mana core is going to be completely corrupted after a few days... or even less." He said.
"I can’t say what will happen to her if... her mana core gets fully corrupted. This is the first time we’re seeing the case like this... but I doubt it’ll be anything good."
"The AMO... will have to take precaution in a situation like that." The man continued, his voice suddenly turning serious.
"T-that’s..." Harry’s father mumbled in shock, feeling tears slowly gather at the corner of his eyes.
However, he swiftly regained his composure, withholding the tears that threatened to fall down his face.
Although the ginger haired man didn’t say it directly, the "precaution" he used in this case, meant she might have to be eliminated.
Since the person in this case was a powerful mage, the AMO couldn’t risk a situation where her mana core gets completely corrupted.
No one knew what could happen... her mana might completely spiral out of control, causing an immeasurable amount of damage.
"Y-you... can’t tell Harry about this... okay?" He said, tightly gripping the man’s shoulders.
"Yeah, I know that." The man replied, nodding his head in agreement.
Meanwhile, Harry stared at the two men talking a few meters from him with a deep frown on his face.
"Hey Leon... what do you think they’re talking about...?" He muttered, lightly tapping Leon’s shoulder.
"I-I don’t know..." Leon replied, his attention not fully focused on Harry’s words.
His gaze remained glued to a small door situated at the far end of the hallway, and his brows kept twitching uncontrollably.
’What’s with this ominous mana i keep sensing...?’ He thought, subconsciously swallowing down a hard gulp. ’Just... what the hell is behind that door?’
