Make France Great Again-Chapter 884 - 875: The Emperor’s Instructions
The messenger and others boarded the cargo ship one by one and set out for Libreville. At 10 a.m., the cargo ship officially set sail, and after nearly a week of drifting at sea, it finally arrived at the port of Libreville.
The messenger, stepping off the cargo ship, turned to the others behind him and asked, "Everyone, would you like to first take a stroll around Libreville, or head straight to the Governor’s Mansion?"
After a moment of silence, the people present responded one after another.
"Let’s visit the Governor first!"
"Indeed! It’s more pressing to go to the Governor’s Mansion! We are here for mineral exploration, not to wander around Libreville!"
...
Since everyone chose to report to the Governor’s Mansion first, the messenger said nothing more.
He merely smiled at everyone and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I’ll take you to the Governor’s Mansion now!"
Having said that, the messenger led the group of geological experts in the direction of the Governor’s Mansion.
About fifteen minutes later, they arrived at the gates of the Governor’s Mansion.
At this time, the guard stationed at the gate looked at the messenger and others who wanted to enter and quickly stopped them, asking, "What is your business here?"
"I have been tasked by Governor Jerome Patterson to go to France and find experts who can identify mineral types for the Governor’s Mansion!" the messenger replied, neither humble nor arrogant, while pointing to the group of geology professionals behind him. "These are the experts invited by His Majesty for the Governor’s Mansion!"
Upon hearing the origin of this group, the soldier’s expression immediately turned serious, and they hurriedly apologized to the "experts," saying, "We are really sorry!"
"No problem!" the messenger shook his head and replied to the soldier, then pointed behind the soldier and asked, "Now, can we go in?"
"Of course you can!" the soldier quickly answered, then stepped aside to make way.
The messenger and the geology professionals entered the courtyard of the Governor’s Mansion. When they reached the entrance of the Governor’s Mansion, the secretary stationed on the first floor inquired about their purpose again.
The messenger repeated what he had said before to the secretary.
The secretary was silent for a moment, then glanced at the geological experts behind the messenger, "Please follow me!"
Under the guidance of the secretary, the messenger and the geology experts were led to the entrance of a room.
The secretary spoke to them again, "Please wait a moment inside, I will report to Governor Jerome Patterson and Secretary Rastigne now!"
"I’ll go with you!" the messenger also said to the secretary, "When I was back in Marseille, His Majesty the Emperor gave me a telegram to deliver to Governor Jerome Patterson!"
"Alright, come with me then!" the secretary replied to the messenger. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The messenger turned his head and looked at the geological experts remaining in place, showing a kind smile, "Please wait here for a while, the Governor and Secretary Rastigne will be here shortly!"
"Understood!" an older geologist responded to the messenger.
The messenger and the secretary proceeded to the entrance of the corridor, then continued up the stairs, soon reaching the floor where the Governor’s office was located.
When the messenger and the secretary reached the corridor, Secretary Rastigne happened to come out of the Governor’s office. Seeing the messenger who had been in France for nearly three weeks, Secretary Rastigne’s face immediately broke into a smile.
Since the messenger had returned, it meant that those who could identify mineral types had arrived.
"Your Excellency Secretary!" the messenger and the secretary, upon seeing Secretary Rastigne, responded to him in unison.
"Hmm!" Secretary Rastigne nodded, then gestured to the messenger and said, "Come over here!"
The messenger jogged over to Rastigne, who asked the messenger, "So, did you find the people?"
"Your Excellency Secretary, the people have been found!" the messenger nodded and replied to Rastigne, then pointed downstairs and said, "They are now resting in the room downstairs!"
"Very good!" Rastigne nodded satisfactorily, and ordered the messenger, "Now, take me to see them at once!"
"Your Excellency Secretary, I’m afraid I cannot accompany you there right now!" the messenger politely declined,
"Why?" Rastigne asked the messenger in confusion.
"Your Excellency Secretary, I have a telegram that needs to be delivered to the Governor!" the messenger took out a telegram from his pocket and said to Rastigne.
"From whom?" Rastigne blurted out, then reached out to take the messenger’s telegram,
"It’s a telegram from His Majesty the Emperor!" the messenger quickly replied, retracting his hand slightly with the telegram.
Hearing this, Rastigne discreetly retracted his hand, then smiled at the messenger and said, "Since it’s a telegram for the Governor given by His Majesty, it’s not appropriate for me to view it!
"You yourself will hand over this telegram to the Governor!"
"Yes! Secretary!" The messenger nodded and then added, "Those geologists from Paris are now settling on the first floor."
"I understand!" Rastigne responded indifferently, then urged the messenger, "You must deliver the telegram to the Governor immediately!"
Once Rastigne finished speaking, the messenger proceeded again.
Meanwhile, Rastigne was led by his direct subordinates to the room where the geologists were located.
As a clear knocking sound came from the door, the working Governor Jerome Patterson looked up at the doorway once more.
The person standing at the door at that moment was none other than the messenger he had sent to France. Jerome Patterson said cheerfully, "You’ve returned!"
"Governor!" The messenger bowed to Governor Jerome Patterson.
"Please come in!" Jerome Patterson rose to invite the messenger to sit opposite him.
The messenger walked step by step to Jerome Patterson, who promptly inquired, "How is it? Have you found them?"
The messenger quickly responded to Jerome Patterson, "Governor, I’ve already brought over the geologists!
They are all teachers and students from École Polytechnique, with abundant experience in identifying types of minerals!"
"That’s wonderful!" Jerome Patterson responded excitedly to the messenger, "Where are they now?"
"They are resting on the first floor, and Secretary Rastigne has gone over!" The messenger responded to Jerome Patterson, then handed over the telegram from his pocket to Jerome Patterson: "This telegram is specially entrusted to me by His Majesty the Emperor to deliver to you."
Jerome Patterson opened the telegram and read the contents: Jerome Bonaparte first expressed, in the name of the Emperor of the French Empire, congratulations on Jerome Patterson’s actions in the Gabon Region.
Then, Jerome Bonaparte talked about the mine matter in the telegram, he informed Jerome Patterson, if the mine is found to be manganese, then Jerome Patterson must organize further excavation immediately.
And he would also quickly send someone from the Paris Northern Industrial Group to Libreville for negotiation.
At the same time, Jerome Bonaparte hoped that Jerome Patterson could go full throttle and continue expanding territories, ensuring the flag of the French Empire flies in Central Africa.
After reading the letter, Jerome Patterson felt as though his uncle in Paris had already confirmed the open-pit mine would certainly produce manganese.
Even though Jerome Patterson didn’t understand why his uncle firmly believed it was manganese, he somehow felt Jerome Bonaparte was correct.
"I’ve finished reading the telegram, you may go rest now!" Jerome Patterson gestured to the messenger.
"Yes!" The messenger rose, bowed to Jerome Patterson, and left.
Shortly after the messenger departed, Jerome Patterson also got up, wanting to see the level of those geologists from Paris.
As Jerome Patterson walked out of his office, he happened to encounter Rastigne, who stopped instinctively upon seeing Jerome Patterson.
"Rastigne, how are those people?" Jerome Patterson promptly asked Rastigne.
"Governor, their understanding of minerals surpasses mine!" Rastigne responded to Jerome Patterson, then added, "However, considering I’m only half-knowledgeable in this area!
Therefore, it’s difficult for me to judge their abilities accurately, only practice can reveal their true level."
"When should they go?" Jerome Patterson asked Rastigne again.
Rastigne hesitated for a moment, then responded to Jerome Patterson, "How about tomorrow?"
"Okay!" Jerome Patterson nodded in response to Rastigne.
"I’ll go tell them right away!" Rastigne turned to head back.
"Wait a moment!" Before Rastigne walked far, Jerome Patterson called out to Rastigne.
"Governor, do you have any other instructions?" Rastigne asked respectfully.
"Go and tell them that I will host a welcome banquet for them tonight at the Governor’s Mansion! I hope every one of them can attend!" Jerome Patterson responded to Rastigne.
"As you command!"
Rastigne proceeded to the geologists’ room, where he first informed them of the departure time, then communicated Jerome Patterson’s invitation.
Upon hearing this, the geologists immediately requested Secretary Rastigne to express their gratitude to Governor Jerome Patterson on their behalf.
That evening, Jerome Patterson appeared in military attire at the banquet scene, enthusiastically welcoming the arrival of the geologists in front of everyone, shaking hands with all the geologists who had traveled from afar.
