Make France Great Again-Chapter 821 - 812: Father and Daughter
In the morning, Jerome Bonaparte woke up from a sound sleep and looked at Augusta, who was still asleep beside him. He carefully pulled back the covers, quietly got dressed, and tiptoed out of the room.
The entire process was silent, fearing to disturb the sleeping Augusta.
When Jerome Bonaparte left the bedroom and arrived at a door (Hofburg Palace had far more doors than the Tuileries Palace), he saw Count Gneer sitting on a chair at the door.
Count Gneer also saw Jerome Bonaparte, and quickly stood up to bow to Jerome Bonaparte, saying, "Good morning, Your Majesty!"
"Good morning, Count Gneer!" Jerome Bonaparte replied with a smile, "How did you sleep last night?"
"Wonderfully, Your Majesty!" Count Gneer said to Jerome Bonaparte and then asked, "How about you?"
"I did too!" Jerome Bonaparte nodded in response.
"Shall I take you to the bathing area?" Count Gneer continued to inquire.
"Certainly!"
Under Count Gneer’s guidance, Jerome Bonaparte went to the washing area.
Before Jerome Bonaparte could do anything, the surrounding servants began to serve him, so he didn’t need to exert any effort.
After Jerome Bonaparte finished washing, Count Gneer again asked if he wanted to head to the dining hall for breakfast.
"Where is Franz now?" Jerome Bonaparte asked Count Gneer.
"His Majesty Franz is already at work!" Count Gneer replied to Jerome Bonaparte, "If Your Majesty wishes to meet with His Majesty Franz, I can take you there now!"
"No need!" Jerome Bonaparte raised his hand to stop Count Gneer, "When does your majesty usually start working?"
"Your Majesty, His Majesty Franz strictly follows a schedule, waking up at 4 AM every day for work!" Count Gneer replied to Jerome Bonaparte, "If it is winter, His Majesty will start work an hour later!"
"4 in the morning!" Jerome Bonaparte instinctively drew in a breath upon hearing Franz Joseph’s schedule.
Based solely on the schedule, Franz Joseph was definitely the hard-working type.
But sometimes, if the direction is wrong, the more effort you put in, the more mistakes will follow.
Not to mention, Franz Joseph himself was an emperor unwilling to embrace new things.
"Franz is truly disciplined!" Jerome Bonaparte remarked.
"Your Majesty, our His Majesty Franz is just such a disciplined emperor!" Count Gneer proudly replied to Jerome Bonaparte, "He can always restrain his desires!"
"Ah!" Jerome Bonaparte sighed and responded to Count Gneer, "Unlike me, who can’t restrain my desires, every night at the Tuileries Palace, I think about getting up early to handle affairs the next morning, yet every day I wake up at eight or nine o’clock!
Compared to Franz, my self-control is far too poor!"
"Your Majesty, everyone has their own style of conduct! There’s no need for you to be overly concerned!" Count Gneer quickly comforted Jerome Bonaparte, "Besides, the entire French Empire is thriving under your leadership! This speaks enough of your capability!"
"Count Gneer, you’re right! Everyone has a different style of conduct! Moreover, I’m not a hard-working monarch by nature! There’s no need to force such things!" Jerome Bonaparte nodded and responded to Count Gneer, "By the way, where is the dining hall?"
"Your Majesty, please follow me!" Count Gneer led the way for Jerome Bonaparte.
In the dining hall, Jerome Bonaparte ordered some bread, caviar, two sausages, and tomato juice soup, then quietly sat at the round table waiting for breakfast.
After a while, a lady in a light blue nightgown with loose hair appeared in the dining hall.
Jerome Bonaparte immediately recognized Empress Elizabeth, although her current appearance hardly linked her to being an empress.
No wonder Elizabeth was targeted by Grand Duchess Sophie!
Looking at the princess Qianqian without any empress image before him, Jerome Bonaparte silently commented to himself.
"Sorry, I went the wrong way!" Elizabeth said, upon seeing Jerome Bonaparte in the dining hall, a hint of embarrassment crossed her face, and she instinctively wanted to leave.
"Why are you running!" Jerome Bonaparte called out to the departing Empress Elizabeth.
Elizabeth stopped and cheekily stuck her tongue out at Jerome Bonaparte.
"Come and sit down!" Jerome Bonaparte glanced at Elizabeth, extending an invitation for her to sit down.
"Okay!" Faced with Jerome Bonaparte’s tone carrying a hint of command, Elizabeth responded instinctively and obediently sat opposite Jerome Bonaparte.
"Did you just get out of bed?" asked Jerome casually, sitting opposite his four hundred.
"Of course!" Elizabeth answered without hesitation, with a hint of pride in her tone.
"Since you’re up, why not dress properly before coming out? You insist on wandering around in these clothes," Jerome chided Elizabeth in a fatherly manner.
"How was I supposed to know you’d show up in the dining room at this time!" Elizabeth didn’t mind Jerome’s tone, and responded with a hint of grievance.
"Even if I didn’t show up in the dining room, you can’t come out in this outfit!" Jerome responded to Elizabeth sternly.
He suddenly regrets not letting Grand Duchess Sophie deal with Elizabeth’s careless personality earlier, as no court except the Tuileries Palace could tolerate her demeanor.
Not to mention, the excessively strict Spanish Court.
Elizabeth standing here in these clothes is proof enough of Franz Joseph’s love for her.
"I know!" Elizabeth replied dismissively to Jerome, "I’ll find a way to correct it as soon as possible!"
"Correct it yourself quickly!" Jerome sighed inwardly, feeling as if he was replacing Princess Sisi’s father’s role.
About five minutes later, the attendant brought Jerome’s breakfast to him.
Princess Sisi, still in preparation, stared at Jerome’s meal and instinctively swallowed, which Jerome noticed.
Jerome smiled slightly, picked up a soft piece of bread, spread some caviar on it, sliced a few pieces of sausage, and handed it to Elizabeth, "Eat up!"
"I can’t eat!" Elizabeth shook her head and responded to Jerome, "Eating too much in the morning isn’t good!"
"What? Are you dieting?" Jerome asked Elizabeth.
"Of course!" Elizabeth nodded immediately and said to Jerome, "I strictly control my eating habits!"
Jerome then remembered that Princess Sisi had a habit of dieting in history, which kept her weight below 100 pounds, practically wrecking her body.
"Control your diet? Are you trying to slim down to bones only?" Jerome responded to Elizabeth. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Of course not!" Princess Sisi countered, "I just want my waist to return to its pre-pregnancy size!"
"What was your waist size before pregnancy?" Jerome asked Princess Sisi again.
"38!" Princess Sisi responded immediately.
"What is it now?" Jerome asked Princess Sisi again.
"52!" Princess Sisi responded somewhat dejectedly.
"52! That’s good!" Jerome rudely estimated a normal waist size and responded.
"What’s good about it! It’s a big circle bigger!" Princess Sisi replied.
"Your previous 38 was an abnormal number!" Jerome told Princess Sisi, "With your current height, your body will have major problems sooner or later!"
"Shouldn’t be!" Elizabeth said to Jerome, "Many people maintain a waist under 40!"
"This can cause organs to shift, making women suddenly faint while dancing!" Jerome explained, "Besides, it’s not good for childbirth!"
Elizabeth was startled upon hearing it wasn’t good for childbirth.
Still, she was reluctant, "But, I see many people are like this!"
Jerome put the bread in his hand back on the plate, scooped a spoonful of soup into his mouth, and said calmly, "This situation is inherently very abnormal behavior; excessive pursuit of a slim waist severely damages the body.
You see I never let Augusta waist-train, so don’t even consider waist-training! Eat when you should, as long as it’s within a moderate range!"
"Hmm!"
Elizabeth seemed convinced by Jerome, took the bread from Jerome’s plate and bit into it, then reached for Jerome’s half sausage with her other hand.
Watching Princess Sisi wolf down her food, Jerome’s mouth twitched slightly, wondering if Elizabeth had ever had a full meal at the Hofburg Palace.
After a while, the attendant brought Princess Sisi’s diet meal—a glass of milk.
By then, Princess Sisi was already full, feeling a bit choked, she drank the milk in one gulp and then let out a satisfied burp.
