Chapter 116: Chapter 116: An Eye for an Eye

The three men left. Evelyn Ford looked at Ronan Kendrick and couldn’t help but laugh.

"Let’s eat. I’m hungry." ’He’s still thinking about food,’ she thought.

"Should I make some more braised pork? To celebrate the good life you’re about to have."

"What do you mean?" Ronan felt there was something dangerous in Evelyn’s words, so he didn’t dare to answer.

"That man from earlier took your picture. If that Miss Holloway takes a liking to you, she’ll probably send someone to whisk you away to her luxurious villa. As my dear friend who’s faced death with me, you can’t forget about me when you’re living the high life."

"Good. I won’t have to look for her then. I can just go over and kill her." Ronan sat down and continued eating, his face impassive.

"If you kill her, do you think you can escape? Can I escape? Can Officer Graham and the others escape?"

Ronan looked up at Evelyn, his expression still calm. "Are you scared?"

Evelyn nodded. "No one isn’t afraid of power, especially since they have more than just power. But don’t you worry. I’ll save you."

Evelyn took out some medicinal herbs. "You’ll have to bear with being disfigured for a while."

After they ate, Evelyn began to prepare the poison. Once the pitch-black concoction was brewed, Evelyn pricked Ronan’s finger, took a few drops of his blood, and mixed it into the potion. She then had him apply it to his face. After washing it off half an hour later, his once handsome and refined face was now unrecognizable and covered in bumps.

"Smear some on your neck and hands, too. When they come back, show them this face."

Ronan looked at her darkly. "You’re using my blood to counter my blood?"

Ronan’s blood had self-healing properties, but every force in nature has its counter. By mixing his blood into the poison, Evelyn had actually increased its toxicity.

"I estimate it will only last for two or three days."

Ronan looked at his reflection in the mirror and a slight smile touched his lips. "You’ve got some nerve."

"Go back and wait. I expect they’ll be here soon."

Ronan didn’t move, showing no intention of returning to room 602.

Instead, he stared at her face and handed her the rest of the potion. "You put some on, too."

"I don’t need it, do I?"

"I think you do." He was insistent, looking as if he would force it on her if she refused. Recalling the time he’d forced her to drink his blood, Evelyn took the potion and applied a thin layer to her face.

The reaction was fast. In about ten minutes, her face started to itch, and bumps the size of fava beans began to appear.

"Good thing I left Mina and Lola with Quincy. I really do have good foresight."

Evelyn washed off the poison, looked at her newly minted bumpy face, and took out her phone to take a selfie.

"Come on, let’s take a picture together to commemorate the moment."

And just like that, their first photo together was taken.

Evelyn put away more than half of the things in her room to avoid arousing suspicion. Sure enough, a few minutes later, there was another knock on the door. Evelyn covered her face and went to open it. Seeing the young woman in the lead, dressed in a fur-collared cloak, she knew this must be the infamous Miss Holloway.

"Where is he?"

The man from before stepped forward, intending to enter the room and drag Ronan out. Evelyn quickly stretched out her arm to stop them.

"You’re the owner of that little squirrel? I haven’t even settled the score with you yet. How dare you block my way? Tie her up."

"You must be Miss Holloway. First you tried to steal my squirrel and my colorful bird, and now you’re here in my home trying to take a person. Do you just enjoy taking other people’s things?"

A man beside her raised his hand to strike Evelyn, but she dodged it nimbly and revealed her bumpy face. The group was so startled they instantly took several steps back. Miss Holloway, looking disgusted and repulsed, seemed terrified of being contaminated by something filthy.

"Bring that man out. Tie this ugly woman up and throw her outside the base."

Ronan suddenly appeared and pulled Evelyn behind him. When his even uglier face was revealed, Evelyn’s suddenly seemed quite pleasant by comparison.

"Why is there another ugly man? Wade Holloway, where’s the man from the photo?"

Wade Holloway looked at Evelyn and Ronan, cold sweat beading on his forehead. ’How did they completely change their faces in just two hours?’

"Miss, that’s him! I don’t know why he looks like this now. The photo wasn’t edited, I swear! They must have eaten something they’re allergic to."

Miss Holloway, her face full of resentment, lifted her foot and kicked Wade Holloway hard in the chest.

"Take them to the villa. Call for the doctor."

The bodyguards, afraid this might be a contagious disease, didn’t dare to touch Evelyn or Ronan. Wade Holloway scrambled to his feet, pulled out a gun, and pointed it at Ronan, his tone vicious.

"Get moving."

Arriving at the villa district, Evelyn stared at the row of magnificent mansions, her gaze heavy.

The moment Miss Holloway entered her house, two men swarmed around to wait on her. It was the first time Evelyn had seen such a scene, and she found it rather interesting.

"Where’s the doctor?"

"Miss, Dr. Avery is here."

Dr. Avery was the Holloway family’s private physician. The family had been going through some turmoil recently, so Dr. Avery had been staying at Chairman Holloway’s villa to help him recuperate.

"Miss, you were looking for me?" Dr. Avery was a slightly overweight, middle-aged man in his forties who was out of breath as he walked.

"Examine these two. See if they’re having an allergic reaction to some food."

When Dr. Avery saw the bumps on Evelyn and Ronan’s faces, he nearly threw up.

He examined them for a moment before shaking his head in defeat.

"Miss, this doesn’t look like a food allergy or poisoning. It looks more like... they were born this way."

"How is that possible? Their faces were fine two hours ago! I took a picture."

Wade Holloway was frantic. He pulled out the photo to show Dr. Avery, who glanced at it and stroked his chin.

"This has to be edited. No one could be this good-looking; it doesn’t even look real. Miss, Wade Holloway must be trying to prank you." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Wade Holloway was at a loss for words, trembling with frustration. Miss Holloway shot him a sinister glare before her gaze shifted back to Evelyn and Ronan.

"You two, go back."

"Miss, there’s something strange about these two."

"Get out. And kneel in the snow for three hours."

Wade Holloway shot Ronan a hateful look before shuffling miserably out of the villa to kneel in the snow outside.

As Evelyn and Ronan walked past him, he looked up and glared at them with a fierce, gloomy expression.

After they had walked some distance, Evelyn toyed with the embroidery needle in her hand and gave Ronan a meaningful look.

When Miss Holloway’s men were about to take them away, Evelyn had been ready to make a move, but Ronan had intercepted her. He had taken all five of her needles, and as for when or how he’d used them, Evelyn hadn’t seen a thing.

However, when Wade Holloway had been provoking them just now, Evelyn had clearly seen Ronan act. A needle flicked from his fingertips, flying through the air without any physical contact and embedding itself in the back of Wade’s head.

"There was something smeared on it. Those two are in for some suffering."

Evelyn’s tone was a little cold. She had always been the type to seek revenge for even the smallest slight. When someone deserved to die, not even the King of Hell could stop her.

"This is your ’good method’?" Ronan felt this approach wasn’t ruthless enough, but since Evelyn insisted, he didn’t dare to object.

"The important thing isn’t getting revenge. It’s getting revenge and being able to walk away in one piece. Understand?"
