Lunar Legacy: Rise Of The Beastlord-Chapter 124: Rise of Wolverine
Chapter 124: Rise of Wolverine
Jayden’s eyes snapped open, a sharp gasp tearing from his lips as consciousness returned. He sat up slowly, muscles coiled tight, golden eyes scanning the dimly lit room. The fading sunlight painted the walls in hues of amber—evening. He’d been out for hours.
Then the memories of before he lost consciousness crashed over him like a tidal wave.
His eyes widened. "The system..."
[Rank Up Complete]
A notification suddenly popped as Jayden thought of the system. More alerts followed in rapid succession, each one sending a jolt of adrenaline through his veins.
[Wolverine Stalker Gene is now D-Rank]
*Crystals required for next rank: [2/15]
[Temporary stat boost during beast transformation has increased]
[Wolverine Stalker Abilities are now Available]
[Host has received the ability; Invisibility]
Jayden read through the notifications with excitement, he had received another ability. And that was only just the beginning. The system screen appeared with more prompts.
[Alert! Evolution possibility detected in Wolverine Stalker Genes]
[Lesser Wolverine Stalker >>> Greater Wolverine Stalker]
[Would Host like to proceed with Evolution]
Jayden blinked in surprise. He had completely forgotten that his Wolverine Stalker genes were still that of a lesser type of the beast. All he was focused on was receiving the ability.
And remembering how powerful a Greater Wolverine Stalker was, he agreed without a second thought. "Yes."
[Evolving Lesser Wolverine Stalker into Greater Wolverine Stalker...]
[Alert! 1 D-Rank Wolverine Stalker crystal is needed to proceed with Evolution]
Once again, Jayden was stunned. He thought the evolution would be a simple process that didn’t require anything. But more importantly...
"Luna, i thought you said the system didn’t need crystals of specific ranks?" he asked. "Why is it asking for a D-Rank crystal now?"
[The system truly doesn’t need specific ranks of beast crystals to rank up] Luna replied. [But this is different. It’s an evolution]
Jayden sighed. She was right, it was two different things. "Then it’s a good thing i saved that D-Rank crystal from yesterday." he said.
[Yeah. It is] Luna agreed.
Jayden nodded and quickly gave a command. "System, absorb the D-Rank Wolverine Stalker crystal in my inventory and use it for the evolution." he ordered, and almost immediately, the system screen popped up.
[1 D-Rank Wolverine Stalker crystal absorbed]
[Requirements for evolution has been met]
[Evolution has begun]
[Alert! Host would now be put to a short slumber so Evolution can be successful]
Jayden eyes widened. "What?! Not again. The last one took almost ten hours. Luna stop this..." he paused as his eyes suddenly got heavy, the weight was already dragging him under. His limbs turned leaden, his vision blurring at the edges. He fought it, teeth gritted, but the System’s pull was inexorable.
Darkness swallowed him whole.
Jayden passed out and fell to the ground this time, already deep in sleep.
.....
Jayden groaned as awareness returned, his skull throbbing like he’d been hit with a sledgehammer. Moonlight streamed through the window, painting silver streaks across the floor.
[Oh look, the sleeping beauty finally woke up] Luna teased. [Welcome back to the waking world, princess. How was your nap?]
Jayden rubbed his temples, scowling. "How long was I out?"
[Two hours] Luna replied flatly.
He exhaled sharply. "This System is pissing me off. It can’t just knock me out whenever it feels like it. What if I’d been in the middle of a fight?"
Luna scoffed. [Quit whining. The sleep is necessary unless you’d rather feel every bone in your body shattering and reforming in real-time. Besides, you can’t argue with the results]
And just as Luna finished speaking, the system screen appeared.
[Evolution Complete]
[Wolverine Stalker Gene (D-Rank) has been successfully evolved]
[Host now has access to following features:
-Adamantine Skeleton freewebnøvel_com
-Retractable Adamantine Knuckleclaws
-Increased Strength
-Enhanced Healing Factor]
*Note: This features can only be accessed during transformations (Partial, Hybrid or Full)
Jayden stared at the screen for a moment too long. He was silent on the outside but inwardly, he was throwing flips. It was all too exciting.
Ever since he’d fought with the Greater Wolverine Stalker, he had always imagined using its abilities. Having those long claws that resembled that of a movie character he used to love. Possessing Adamantine bones, which was probably the hardest material out there.. said to even be harder than diamond.
With a skeletal system like that, Jayden would practically be indestructible.
And then, there was invisibility. This alone was the greatest advantage of all. His opponents won’t see him coming.
Jayden quickly rushed to the balcony of his room, stepping out into the cool night. He wanted to test out the new features.
Since he couldn’t use invisibility until he masters it, all he could test was the Adamantine skeleton and claws.
Then with a silent command, he activated partial transformation, shifting only one part... well in this case, one particular thing in his body. His bones.
A deep, resonant crack echoed through him as his skeleton began reforging itself. He gritted his teeth, feeling the marrow vibrate, the density shifting, hardening. It wasn’t painful.. just intense, like every bone in his body was being dipped in molten metal and left to cool into something indestructible.
Adamantine.
Jayden flexed his hands, marveling at the unyielding strength now humming beneath his flesh. He felt it—the sheer, unbreakable resilience. No more shattered ribs. No more fractured limbs.
But he wasn’t done.
He clenched his right fist, focusing on his knuckles. At first, nothing happened. Then—
SHLKK.
Three razor-sharp blades erupted from his knuckles in a burst of crimson, each one glistening under the moonlight. Jayden hissed as the pain flared—his flesh tearing to make way for the adamantine weapons now protruding from his hand.
Blood dripped onto the balcony floor, but his healing factor kicked in instantly, stitching the wounds closed. The claws lengthened, sliding out further with wet, visceral sounds until they gleamed at a full seven inches... wicked, curved, and deadly.
Jayden stared at them, breathless.
They were perfect.
A single swipe through the air produced a faint whistle as the claws sliced nothingness with effortless grace.
A slow, feral smirk curled his lips.
"Finally..." he murmured, admiring the lethal extensions of his own body. "...I have something i can use as a weapon."
---
The first light of dawn had barely touched the horizon when Jayden’s eyes snapped open. No grogginess, no hesitation—just pure, razor-edged focus. He threw off the sheets and was on his feet in an instant, the events of yesterday burning fresh in his mind.
Adamantine bones. Retractable claws. Invisibility.
But potential meant nothing without mastery.
He dressed swiftly... loose joggers, a fitted tank top, running shoes, and was out the door within minutes. The city streets were still quiet, the air crisp with the lingering chill of night. His breath came in steady clouds as he fell into a rhythmic sprint, his enhanced muscles carrying him effortlessly toward the park. He arrived quickly and completed his daily quests, before heading back.
By the time he returned home, the sun was high, casting golden streaks across his apartment floor. A quick, scalding shower washed away the sweat and grime, the water pounding against his shoulders like a massage. Breakfast was a silent affair—protein, greens, a glass of water.
Then, the real work began.
Jayden returned to his room after breakfast and sat cross-legged on his bed, his breathing slow and controlled. His eyes slid shut as he turned his focus inward, reaching for the part of himself that controlled the Poison Secretion ability.
He had planned to activate and master the ability first, before learning invisibility. The poison ability was something he could use to his advantage when fighting something as large as a Earth Smasher.
Jayden took a deep breath and reached out... It was there. He could feel it—a dormant, slithering presence coiled within his veins. But unlocking it was the challenge.
Hours passed.
His brow furrowed in concentration, his muscles taut with effort. He visualized the toxin—thick, lethal, emanating from his hands. He willed his body to obey, to channel that venom to the surface.
Nothing happened.
He tried altering his approach—focusing on his anger, his predatory instincts, the memory of the Earth Smasher’s mocking grin. Maybe emotion was the key.
Still nothing.
The sun dipped lower, painting his room in hues of orange and shadow. Sweat beaded on his forehead, his back damp with exertion. His fists itched with the urge to hit, to destroy—but the poison refused to manifest.
Finally, his eyes snapped open.
A frustrated sigh tore from his lips as he raked a hand through his hair.
He failed to activate the ability.
Disappointment coiled in his gut, sharp and bitter. He’d mastered his Telekinesis in minutes. Why was this so different?
"Why isn’t this working?" he hissed.
[Patience] Luna murmured, her voice a whisper in his mind. [An ability isn’t just a weapon, it’s a part of you. You can’t force it. You have to understand it]
Jayden clenched his jaw. He didn’t want philosophy. He wanted results.
But for now, he was spent.
He pushed off the bed, his muscles stiff from hours of stillness, and stalked toward the shower. The cold water did little to wash away his irritation, but it cleared his head.
He would try again another day. But for now, he needed to be ready for what was to come.
Because tomorrow, he was going back... to the forest. To the Earth Smasher’s territory. And he was going to get his retribution, no matter the cost.
He was going to have his victory.
