Chapter 135: Chapter 136: Fixing the misunderstanding

Hearing his words, Liza was confused as she felt the heat between them was a bit too much. The smell of him so close made her face turn red.

Remembering that she was angry at him, she finally realized just how close they were, with her chest pressing against his abs and even her shoulders being held by him.

Flushed with embarrassment, she pushed him away.

This made Jeff stagger, but he quickly regained his balance, "Hmph, what do you want to explain now that I have calmed down? Isn’t your purpose clear from the start?" she said, her cold gaze fixed on him.

Jeff first used his hand to gently soothe the spot where he had been bitten. Seeing him do that, Liza felt strangely satisfied again as she stood there with a smug smile, feeling victorious over him.

"See? I think you clearly misunderstood what I meant when I asked how much that is..." Jeff said, pointing toward her chest once again.

Her eyes instinctively followed his gesture down to her own chest before snapping back to glare at him, her face turning red in both anger and disbelief.

"Are you seriously that perverted?" she shouted, she wondered if the beating is not enough?

."So you mean to tell me you don’t want my whole body, just my boobs? What do you take me for, a whore you can just fondle for a bit of money?"

She cursed at him furiously, but this time, she didn’t attack and just stood there, trembling with rage, waiting for his explanation.

Another thing to add is that she was so exhausted that even taking a single step would make her stumble, her legs trembling uncontrollably.

It was the first time she had ever pushed herself to the very limit of her strength.

"Let me finish. What I want is not your chest, it’s your necklace. I want to buy it," Jeff said, finally revealing his true intention.

Hearing his words, the girl was stunned. She glanced down at her chest and realized her necklace being sandwich by her boobies.

Carefully, she slipped it off her neck and held it out for him to see.

It was about the size of a marble, glowing faintly with a bluish purple color.

When Jeff saw her take it out, his eyes burned with a strange fury that startled her.

It was not really him who wanted it since he was never passionate about collecting this kind of stuff.

Instead, it was his instinct that screamed at him to take it, forcing his body to move on its own as he nodded his head vigorously.

Liza noticed the change in his expression when she showed him the necklace.

She could clearly see that it was not an act and that his reaction was genuine. It seemed that his real purpose from the beginning was really the necklace itself.

Remembering how she had chased him for a long time while shouting pervert made her face turn red with shame.

But when she recalled that he had also caught a glimpse of her chest while trying to look at the necklace, her embarrassment faded away, since he still has a good looked at it.

"Do you really want to buy it?" Liza asked, her voice filled with doubt.

She already knew the price of the necklace, as she had tried to sell it to a pawnshop just a few days ago.

It was only worth 300 pesos, and this very necklace was a gift from her grandmother on her tenth birthday, something she had cherished deeply.

When her grandmother passed away two years ago, it became one of her most precious keepsakes.

However, because of her desperate situation and her need for money, she had once tried to sell it.

But after learning it wasn’t worth much, she decided to keep it as a memento instead.

But seeing the look of expectation on his face, Liza thought he must have mistaken it for something valuable, so she decided to explain.

"I think you misunderstand something, this stone is not something valuable. Believe me, I thought so too when I was younger. When I went to a pawnshop yesterday to see if it could help me with money. They checked it out for me, and the man there said it wasn’t worth much. It’s just a regular stone, probably glass or something similar, nothing that would fetch a high price. They offered me only 300 pesos for it."

She finished speaking, and even though she was still mad at him, she didn’t want to cheat him out of his money.

But Jeff didn’t care at all. Real or not, he needed the necklace.

He knew he would regret it if he didn’t get it, "I don’t really care if it’s genuine or not. What I want to know is if I can buy it. You can raise the price if you want," he said, his eyes fixed on the stone.

Seeing how intently he stared at her necklace, Liza felt a strange bitterness inside. It seemed that it wasn’t her beauty that drew his gaze but the necklace itself.

Pushing that feeling aside and focusing on the matter at hand, she looked at him and her expression softened, though her eyes carried a hint of bitterness.

"I-I can raise the price, right?" she asked, looking him straight in the eyes.

Jeff smiled and nodded, "Yes, you can raise the price as long as I can have it," he said.

"Ok then, give me 300,000 and I’ll give it to you," she offered the price while meeting his gaze.

Jeff’s expression immediately changed upon hearing the price.

Isn’t the necklace only worth 300 pesos at a pawnshop? Yet she wanted to sell it for 300,000 pesos.

That was a thousand times its actual value, and he couldn’t help but feel stunned by her bold demand.

Seeing his expression change, Liza sighed and was about to put the necklace back on, but his next words stopped her mid-action.

"Sure 300,000 it is," Jeff said calmly.

She froze and stared at his face, realizing he wasn’t joking.

This left her confused, thinking that maybe he believed she was the one making a joke.

"Umm, I’m not joking. It’s 300,000 pesos. Are you sure you still want to buy it?" she asked again, trying to confirm if his decision was real.

"I heard you the first time. If you want, I can send you the money now," Jeff said, making her think he was still joking.

To prove otherwise, he walked toward her. Liza hesitated but eventually showed him her phone, revealing her account number on the screen.

Without wasting any time, Jeff entered the details carefully and sent the money.

The whole process took less than three minutes before a notification popped up, confirming that the transaction was successful.

[300,000 Pesos transferred]

Hearing the notification from her phone, Liza glanced at the screen and froze in disbelief.

The message clearly showed that she had really received the money. For a moment, she just stood there, speechlessly.

When she looked up, Jeff was already extending his hand toward her. Hesitantly, she handed over the necklace. As soon as Jeff held it, a strange sensation rushed through him.

His body trembled as an intense surge of power flowed within.

"This necklace is a gift! It’s overflowing, the kinetic energy inside this pearl is so overwhelming," he muttered inwardly, feeling ecstatic as the force coursed through every part of his body.

The price was truly worth it. Now that his goal had been achieved, Jeff turned his attention back to the girl, who was still staring at her phone, her eyes glued to the balance displayed on the screen.

He was just about to speak when a familiar voice echoed from afar.

"Hey, Jeff! You’re actually here! It’s almost six o’clock, we need to go now cause the school’s about to close!" shouted Ryan.

Even though he was still quite a distance away, Ryan easily recognized Jeff’s figure.

Despite not being able to clearly see his face from that far, he knew it was him without a doubt.

"Coming!" he shouted in response hearing the reply and it was actually him Ryan nodded.

Jeff stared back at the girl who’s name is Liza since he saw it on her account, she was still glued on her phone so he just whispered.

"I’ll get going now, so..." Jeff said, waiting for her response.

But she didn’t say a single word, she just stood there frozen, like she was in a trance.

The silence between them grew heavier until Ryan’s voice echoed again, shouting for Jeff to hurry up.

With no reply from the girl, Jeff finally decided to leave and walked off to meet Ryan.

After they disappeared from sight, Liza slowly raised her trembling hand and pinched her own cheek. The sharp pain made her eyes widen.

"This is real... I can’t believe it..." she whispered before her voice broke.

"Boo~hoo~"

Tears streamed down her face as she weakly knelt on the ground, hugging her phone tightly to her chest.

Her tears soaked through her clothes as she stared up at the sky, her vision blurred.

"I’ve been working for six days straight... I can’t believe I finally have it. Thank you for the blessing, God," she whispered, wiping her tears away with her trembling hands before slowly standing up.

When she looked around, the guy was already gone, but she didn’t look for him.

Her mind was set and without wasting another second, she left the school grounds, hailed a ride, and headed straight to the hospital in one go.
