Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 565: Ronan And Irene’s Bonding Time
"Oh, Ronan. I forgot to take something. Can you look after Irene for a moment?" asked Arielle, making Ronan frown.
Irene wanted to get up, but Arielle stopped her. "Arielle, can I come with you?" she asked in a trembling voice.
"Sorry, Irene. I really forgot something. I’ll be back as fast as lightning. You can sit down here first. I promise it won’t be long," Arielle said with a smile, releasing Irene’s hand from her wrist.
Both Ronan and Irene were silent in their places while watching Arielle disappear behind the door. An awkward silence enveloped the two of them again. Ronan felt awkward, and Irene felt scared. It was a perfect combination to make the room become quiet.
In the silence, there was only the crackling of fire and the tap of Ronan’s index finger on the hard shell of the dragon egg beside him.
Shit. Ronan didn’t like this atmosphere. The man clenched his jaw. He would punish Arielle later when they were in the room alone for leaving him in this very strange and unpleasant atmosphere.
Ronan was racking his brains to find a topic to talk about.
"Irene," he called in a deep voice that made Irene’s body stiffen in fear.
The girl lowered her head so that a few strands of her hair fell in front of her face.
Ronan frowned as he didn’t get an answer.
"The last time I saw you was thirteen years ago, and you were so young," the man said, remembering the image of his little sister who was only as long as a wine bottle.
Irene finally looked up, and Ronan coincidentally was also looking at her, making them look at each other briefly before they both turned their faces away again.
It seemed very difficult for Ronan to get close to his little sister. Did he need to ask Archie for help? Didn’t Archie never get close to Arielle before? Then, how could the man get closer to his sister?
Ronan tried to find a topic to talk with Irene again.
"Are you feeling cold?" he asked.
Irene gripped her dress harder and nodded her head. Ronan then stood up and waved his hand, asking Irene to come with him. The man sat down by the fire and patted the empty space beside him.
Irene looked doubtful, but she followed Ronan’s invitation and sat next to the man. Ronan also took off his coat and draped it over Irene’s shoulders. Irene didn’t know how to respond until she saw Ronan smile for the first time.
Strangely, the fear that Irene felt earlier slowly faded. The man’s smile reminded her of her father’s very gentle and soothing smile.
"You remind me of my first meeting with Arielle."
"Arielle?"
Ronan nodded. Irene’s eyes immediately lit up when she heard Arielle’s name. It seemed that he and Irene had one thing in common, which was that they felt attracted every time Arielle’s name was mentioned.
"Arielle is an awkward girl. She was born and raised in a kingdom that had a warm sun. However, something happened, and she started living in the north with me."
Ronan smiled after seeing Irene looking at him with interest when he talked about Arielle.
"Yes. Arielle used to feel cold easily and every time we talked, she always dragged me to sit by the fire like this."
"Doesn’t Arielle have the power of flames like the dragons? I’ve seen her beat the werewolf clans while helping me and father," said Irene, making Ronan frown.
"Yes. She has extraordinary power. However, when she first got here, Arielle was just like you. Very, very similar, but Arielle had a very strong determination to learn. Then, little by little, she became the strong woman she is today."
"Whoa... Arielle is amazing."
Ronan almost laughed, but he cleared his throat to hide his laughter. Irene was right. His wife was truly amazing, and Ronan was very proud to be a man who was lucky to marry a woman as great as Arielle.
Maybe if he was allowed to be reincarnated, Ronan would bow down to God to become Arielle’s husband again.
"I heard from Arielle that you and Arielle met on the night of the festival before our wedding day?" Ronan asked, and Irene answered with a nod of her head.
"I was very surprised when I saw Arielle at that time. Father once told me that outside Birwick, there is a thing called a kingdom. Those kingdoms have kings, queens, princes, and princesses. They are blessed people, and everyone who gets to meet them is the luckiest person in the world," Irene said excitedly.
Ronan watched his sister and listened to Irene’s story with great interest. "Then?"
"Then, when my father and I managed to escape from Birwick. Father told me to use Zoe’s name, so the wolves couldn’t find us. My father and I continued to travel to the town. We also borrowed a lot of roses for us to sell."
Ronan frowned. He remembered reading a report about someone stealing a lot of roses from one of the gardeners in Birwick. That person incurred losses because she had paid quite a lot for hiring a priest who could melt the snow and warm his greenhouse, but someone stole his roses.
For now, Ronan put that aside and focused on listening to Irene’s story again.
"Then, we arrived at a town. Father also took me to see the palace, and that morning I accidentally saw a picture of you and Arielle. People said that she is a princess. I can’t read, but my father helped explain it to me. I... don’t really know you because you’re wearing a mask."
"Yes. It’s me in the photo," Ronan replied quietly.
"Then, in the evening, I accidentally met Arielle who wanted to buy my roses. I was very surprised and happy, but I remember my father’s message not to overdo it because he didn’t want to be the center of attention. That will lure the wolves to find out where we are. When my father and I were alone, I told about my meeting with Arielle. For the first time, I feel very happy because I am a very lucky person to have met a princess."
"Are you happy to meet Arielle?"
