Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 560: The Family Reunion
William was given the choice by his family to be the successor to their family outside Northendell or betray his family and become Ronan’s watchdog. At that moment, he knew that his family was proved guilty and decided to value the bonds of friendship he had built with Ronan. He even became the man’s right-hand man.
William looked at Aimee, Arielle, and Irene walking away from the king’s office. Maybe... if he was still with his family, he would also have a family of his own. William then shook his head. He was still enjoying his youth, and he was not in a hurry like Lazarus who kept asking Aimee to marry him. Besides, Kael had not found a woman who would be his future wife either. There was still plenty of time, William thought.

Inside the king’s office, Ronan looked at his father kneeling in front of him. He didn’t feel sad or moved. He only felt empty. Ronan didn’t know what he wanted because even an apology from his father couldn’t fill the void.
Arthur apologized sincerely. He cried until his body trembled, but kneeling at the feet of his son still felt not enough. The wounds he left must be deep. Even though he knelt for hundreds of full moons, it was still not enough. Arthur still felt weighed down by their past.
Ronan suddenly crouched down and grabbed Arthur’s shoulders to stand up.
"Get up! You are a king. You shouldn’t kneel to anyone, even to your son." Ronan told his father to get back up.
"Where is your pride as a King of Northendell?" he asked and then led his father to sit back on the couch.
Ronan saw a trolley containing teacups that he had deliberately prepared for Arielle. He pulled it and placed the clean cup in front of his father who was sitting with his back slightly bent.
It was still clear in Ronan’s memory that his father was a man full of dignity. Arthur’s back was always straight with a slightly raised chin. His father and mother were the typical royals who thought they were better than everyone else. The two of them enjoyed a party that was full of luxury.
However, what made a man who was previously full of confidence knelt in front of him without hesitation?
Ronan poured the hot tea into the cup. The steam floated in the air as it touched the porcelain cup, and he gave it to his father.
"Have a drink first."
Arthur looked doubtful.
"There’s no poison there. I prepared it for my wife," Ronan said. He then poured for himself and took a sip slowly. It was warm, sweet, and a bit bitter.
"I’ve heard everything that happened thirteen years ago. Arielle has told me everything," Ronan said after a long silence.
Arthur still looked down silently. He didn’t know how to respond.
"Is it true?" Ronan asked again.
"Sorry?"
"Is it true that the body in Irene’s room at that time was a baby that had been switched by the werewolf clan member? And the blood was the trace of your fight with the wolf that took Irene away?"
Arthur didn’t answer right away, but the man still nodded his head. "I don’t remember much because it was a full moon night. Darui, the leader of the werewolf clan, used the opportunity to infiltrate the palace and switch Irene with a different baby. Because on a full moon night, I always focus on taking care of myself and you. But, I went somewhere else instead..."
Ronan remembered the night before the tragedy he was having a party with Lazarus, but he didn’t remember much on the night of the full moon. All he could recall was after coming back, there was only chaos in the palace. He then found his mother crying loudly, and the woman gave him the scar on his face while cursing him for having cursed blood.
"How was your life there? I heard from Arielle that the werewolf clan treated you like a slave?"
Arthur shook his head. "Worse than a slave."
Ronan didn’t need to know what had happened to his father after seeing the fear in Arthur’s trembling eyes.
"What about Irene?"
"Irene.... was the same. At first, they treated her like a maid since childhood. She was being shunned and considered strange, but their treatment became more violent, especially the last three years after Irene reached the age of ten. Darui finally found out that Irene was not the person he had been looking for all this time, so he treated her the same as me."
Ronan’s jaws tightened angrily at the thought of her sister going through a lot of bad things in the werewolf clan. If only he had known from the start that his sister was still alive, Ronan would do anything to get Irene back.
"Ronan," Arthur called softly.
Ronan was a little surprised when his father called his name again.
"Yes?"
"Please take care of Irene... She has been through a lot of bad things, so it might be hard for her to socialize with others. She has a lot of fear. Many bad traumas are stored in her. I... I’m not sure if I can heal her, but I want Irene to live like an ordinary girl without being constantly afraid of her surroundings. I... believe that Arielle can do it."
Arielle... yes... Ronan also believed that Arielle could help Irene to get better.
"I promise that I will never appear in front of you again, but... allow me to see Irene once in a while. I don’t mind if it’s once a year, but I beg you to allow me to see her."
"What are you talking about? You can stay here," Ronan cut him, making the room become quiet for a moment.
Ronan was quite surprised by his own words, but he had absolutely no intention of separating Arthur and Irene because he knew that compared to him, Irene would choose Arthur. He was just the figure of an older brother who had never existed in the girl’s life. From Irene’s point of view, Ronan was just a stranger who suddenly appeared and became her older brother.
