Chapter 558: The Family Reunion

Luffy slided down. They had arrived at Northendell. Irene screamed slightly in surprise as Luffy maneuvered so fast that he fell with a loud thud on the ground. As usual, everyone was on standby with their own weapons pointing at the dragon.

Arielle opened her eyes and saw the figure of Ronan who stood up straight. The man looked unfazed even when a dragon appeared right before his eyes. Violet descended more violently than Luffy, causing Arthur to fall to the ground.

Arielle slowly got off Luffy’s back and carried Irene down. Irene, who was still afraid of crowds, hid behind Arielle’s body, burying her face while tightly gripping Arielle’s dress with trembling hands.

Luffy nudged Arielle’s body with his head. The girl replied by stroking the yellow dragon’s head gently.

"Luffy, thank you so much for being my friend."

"Me too, Arielle. I can grow because of you. I will miss you."

Arielle nodded then hugged the yellow dragon’s neck tightly.

"Give my regards to your father too," Arielle said, giving the dragon a kiss on the cheek.

Luffy hugged Arielle with his wings then glided up into the sky to return to Birwick, followed by Violet who didn’t need to say goodbye as they had never been close before.

Everyone gasped in shock, starting from Kael, William, and Lazarus. Priest Louise was also there. He then walked forward first to approach Arthur’s who was still on top of the snow pile.

Arielle smiled at her husband.

"I’m home," she said, making Ronan smile.

"Welcome home," the man replied warmly.

Arielle gestured with her eyes that there was someone other than her in front of Ronan now. Ronan looked down and saw a girl who was only as tall as Arielle’s chest, squeezing his wife’s dress very tightly. The little girl’s jet black curly hair was the same as him. When the child peeked out from behind Arielle’s body, he could see the same black glow as his mother’s.

Ronan’s heart was beating very fast. He stiffened in his place. He didn’t know what to do. Even his head went blank just remembering how much the child resembled his late mother. The difference was the small mole on her left cheek.

Ronan didn’t need to look at the man that Priest Louise was hugging tightly. He could already guess it. His throat still felt tight because everything in front of him was so real, yet felt like a dream. Arielle was still smiling, waiting for Ronan’s reaction.

"I’ll wait for you in my office," Ronan said then turned to leave the palace grounds.

Arielle looked back and held Irene’s hand to stand beside her. William was the first to approach them. The man crouched down to level his face with Irene. Then, he stretched out his hand.

Arielle nodded her head, telling Irene to touch the hand of the man in front of her. William bowed and then kissed the back of Irene’s hand briefly. Everyone in that place followed suit. They bowed their heads slightly in honor of the presence of Princess Northendell, who they thought was long dead.

"Welcome back, Her Highness Princess Irene D. Blackthorn, the long-lost light of Northendell," William said. Then, he let go of his hand and stood back.

He also bowed respectfully to the return of Arielle who brought a miracle with her.

William also did the same to Arthur, but Arthur refused by placing his hands on William’s shoulders to stop the man from bowing to him.

Arthur felt unworthy. He was no longer a king and planned to dedicate his time in his late wife’s grave. Arthur would give up all his titles and possessions because he still felt guilty for the tragedy on the full moon night thirteen years ago.

Arthur smiled while looking at Lazarus and Kael who were standing behind William. It turned out that the four of them were still together to this day. He then saw a woman standing beside Kael. Arthur instantly recognized her. It was Aimee. He remembered she had a chubby body before.

"How’s your family? I hope everyone is still healthy and fine," Arthur asked William.

William was silent for a moment. He couldn’t answer it. William’s family had long left Northendell because they wanted to take advantage of the chaos thirteen years ago to take over the throne by using Ronan who they thought was too young to carry out the duties of a king.

"Your Majesty, I’m glad to see you still look so good and healthy," William said, trying to change the subject.

"This is all because I was helped by Arielle. Without her, maybe I will never be able to set foot in my birthplace again," Arthur replied while turning to Arielle.

"Your Majesty, let’s go inside. You must be very cold. It’s time for you to rest," Priest Louise chimed in.

Arthur laughed then grabbed the shoulders of Priest Elis’ father. Priest Louise was already quite old, so he walked beside the man at a slow pace thus the man wouldn’t walk in a hurry.

Arielle still didn’t let go of her hand from Irene. Irene was also the same. The little girl still had a fear of meeting strangers, especially men. When William, Kael, and Lazarus introduced themselves, Arielle could feel how tense Irene was because they were still holding hands. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Arielle then invited Irene and Arthur to visit Ronan’s office. Honestly, Arthur was more comfortable telling all the things that happened to him to his mentor, Priest Louise. However, he knew that Ronan had the right to know about it first. His son had risen to the throne in place of him, taking all the responsibility as a king at a young age.

When they arrived at Ronan’s office, William closed the door to give Arthur, Arielle, and Irene a chance to talk to Ronan.

Ronan was already waiting for them. He stood while facing the glass window with both hands resting in the pocket of his pants. When he heard the person he was waiting for arrive, Ronan finally turned around.

Arthur was silent as he saw the wound that ran from Ronan’s forehead to the bottom of his left chin. Was it the scar Zoe had left?

Arthur looked down. He was unable to see the wound imprinted on his son’s face.

"You’re still alive?" Ronan asked Arthur.
