Chapter 533: Her Last Hope Ruined

Irene didn’t know Ronan. When she met Irene the night before her wedding, the little girl knew Arielle’s face because she had seen it in the newspapers. Irene did not know that she was a princess of the kingdom. That beautiful girl had gone through a lot that she became traumatized like this.

Seeing the bite scar on Irene’s shoulder that didn’t disappear even though she had been given the elixir made Arielle worry that the girl would continue to carry this trauma into adulthood. Irene’s childhood and youth had been snatched away cruelly. She had been made a slave since childhood. Arielle didn’t want Irene to suffer more than this.

Seeing Irene reminded her of her past. Irene deserved a better life as a child.

"After this, you can play and do whatever you want. You are no longer bound by anything. So, enjoy your life," Arielle muttered, still hugging Irene while rubbing the girl’s back.

Irene’s breath began to feel calm. When Arielle peeked, it turned out that the girl had fallen asleep. Arielle’s warm body felt very soothing and comfortable, making Irene sleepy. She adjusted Irene’s position and put a blanket on the little girl’s body so she wouldn’t get cold. Arielle also wiped the remaining tears from Irene’s reddened cheeks.

Seeing Irene who was so real in front of her made Arielle couldn’t stop smiling. "Ronan will be very happy."

Arielle tried to open her line of communication with Ronan, but once again, only silence she got. It was still very early. Was the man still sleeping? For some reason, there was a feeling of worry tucked away in her heart.

When Arielle tried to call Ronan many times, Maxieno appeared in her head, causing her to let out a long sigh.

(You said you would stop peeking into my head) Arielle said in annoyance.

(Well, I called you because there’s something strange about the flower you brought. I’m too lazy to go up, and Otis is still busy calming the rest of the dragons members)

Arielle then cut off communication and hoped that after this, she could call Ronan back to tell him that she had already got the snowdrop flower they had been looking for all this time. Arielle needed Ronan’s encouragement and ensured that she could meet the souls of Princess Cecil and Amadea tonight.

After fixing Irene’s blanket, Arielle went to Maxieno’s room and found the man holding the snowdrop flower glass shield.

She saw a sitting pillow in front of Maxieno’s desk. Arielle tried to remain patient and sat on the floor, making the man laugh with satisfaction.

"Oh... your husband should be able to learn manners like you," he said happily, because Arielle chose to sit on the floor .

Otis also arrived and saw Arielle who was sitting below. The man couldn’t say anything. He also sat next to Arielle. Since Otis had done it many times, Maxieno wasn’t very impressed.

Then, Maxieno lifted the snowdrop that Arielle had found. "I don’t understand how it works, but I think this thing looks more withered than it was when it arrived," he said while pointing at one part of the flower that was more bent down than the other flower stems.

The snowdrop flower consisted of three small flower stems. The three flowers bowed bell-shaped downwards. The green stems appeared to have brown spots in one part.

Otis asked permission to come closer and take a look. He agreed with Maxieno’s words. The three flowers that were inside the glass shield looked more weathered than before. Arielle didn’t know what to do. The night was still very long, and she was worried that the flower would not last until the evening.

"What should I do?" asked Arielle frantically.

"We’ll see what will happen to the flower until this afternoon."

Arielle and Otis were both worried. Maxieno felt relaxed and calm considering he had little ambition to return their present life to the real Birwick Mountain. He chose to look at his nails, which still had traces of Darui’s blood. Maxieno didn’t want to clean his body yet. He was still enjoying his victory.

Seconds passed. The sun was now rising above. Arielle squeezed her clothes anxiously because the snowdrop flower under the shield seemed to be wilting. She wanted to water it to make it fresher, but that would only make her look stupid because the flower was floating inside the shield. It didn’t embed in the ground.

"Otis, are you sure this is the real flower?" Arielle asked frantically.

Maxieno had fallen asleep while Arielle and Otis were still sitting on the floor, looking at the ugly-looking snowdrop.

Otis tried to remember the contents of the literature he had read. "I only read that the flower garden was guarded by a group of werewolves. Are you sure there aren’t any red snowdrops besides this?" he asked again.

Arielle shook her head. "There are other snowdrops in that place, but all of them are white," she replied.

"Hopefully this flower lasts until night," said Otis.

In the afternoon, the condition of the flower was getting worse. Arielle could not speak anymore. The only key to release Ronan’s curse was on the verge of wilting.

Maxieno then took Arielle to a forbidden part of the forest. A part of the forest that no creature could enter because it became a meeting place for the souls of Princess Cecil and Amadea left on earth.

Arielle stood, waiting for the night to come, while hugging the snowdrop flower in her arms. Maxieno had to go back because he heard that Abigail had reached her limit. Arielle wanted to go with him and make sure that Abigail was okay, but her determination to release Ronan’s curse was greater.

Arielle’s heart was beating very fast. Now she waited for the night alone. One of her tears fell on her cheek because one of the snowdrop flower stems had fallen. She did not stop praying to the Moon Goddess so that she could restore the condition of the flower.

There was no Otis or Maxieno that she could ask for help. Arielle was in a depressed state alone. Her cries grew louder because of fear. Another snowdrop flower she was holding had fallen again. Arielle was everyone’s hope, and she had high hopes for the flower. If all the flowers fall, then Arielle would also lose hope.

She looked up at the still bright sky.

"Please hurry up for the night to come...." Arielle asked tightly while hugging the flower shield. There was only one stem left that still survived.

"No, no.... Please hold on.... No..." Arielle fell to her knees on the cold ground, watching the last flower bent so deeply that it was about to fall off.

"Arielle..." called Otis who managed to catch up with the girl on foot.

The man gasped at the thing in front of him. "Lord Otis.... What should I do?" asked Arielle in between her sobs.

Arielle had endured it all. She trained tirelessly. Even her body had been burned by her flames many times. Now, all her efforts were in vain when the last stem of the flower turned brown and fell on top of the other two fallen snowdrops.

"Ronan... I made a promise to him and I failed...." she said with great pain.

Otis hugged Arielle’s body and also apologized to the girl because he couldn’t do anything. The girl had almost done it all by herself, and now her last hope and the one who encouraged her had withered away.

Night had fallen, and there was nothing Otis and Arielle could do. Maxieno, who was about to ask for Arielle’s promise to bring Xavier’s head because Abigail was about to give birth in a moment, was silent. He frowned at seeing Arielle who was crying on the ground very loudly.

Then, his eyes caught the thing that made the girl cry. The flowers that were as red as blood had turned brown and withered. The man chuckled in annoyance and pulled Arielle’s collar to stand up.

"I will curse Amadea if he doesn’t accept this thing. Stop crying!" Maxieno shouted, making Arielle cry louder.

"Maxieno... Arielle..."

"Shut up!" Maxieno cut sharply to Otis who was trying to stop his hand that was pulling Arielle’s collar to stand up straight.

"You’re just going to cry here, huh? Don’t make the sacrifices of my time to train you and the sacrifice of the dragon members go to waste just because this stupid flower withered. At least meet them first!’

Arielle shook her head, making Maxieno growl.

"I said go!" Maxieno shouted, pushing Arielle’s body forward until the girl almost fell down. Luckily, there was a big tree that stopped the girl from kissing the ground.
