Chapter 517: Reckless Decisions

Arielle and Maxieno had agreed to the deal. The deal indeed sounded reckless or stupid, but Arielle still had to do something. She couldn’t let Irene be surrounded by people who kidnapped her since childhood, then freed her like a slave and almost made her a victim of sexual violence when she was still a minor!

One thing Arielle was sure of was, if Ronan was also given a choice, then her husband would do anything to help Irene from the werewolf clan.

After sealing a promise to guard Abigail’s offspring, Maxieno now offered the chair in front of him for Arielle to sit on. He now treated the girl like a guest by taking an empty cup in one of the glass cabinets containing ceramic utensils. The cabinet doors were full of vines of plants that crept across the walls of the room.

Maxieno suggested that they return Arthur to the werewolf clan first, with Arielle as an escort to replace Otis as the negotiator between the two clans. Arielle narrowed her eyes while looking at Maxieno suspiciously. She was worried that the man would betray her and did something that would make the werewolf clan attack her.

Maxieno chuckled, then raised his hand, which had the same tattoo as Arielle’s.

"Don’t worry, I also have the same seal as you, so I can’t just abandon you because I have made a promise too," he said.

Arielle nodded, then listened to every suggestion that Maxieno gave. The man would also discuss this with Otis. However, Otis must not know about Arielle and Maxieno’s intentions of infiltrating the werewolf clan and destroying them. Maxieno would tell Otis that he would accept Arielle as one of his servants.

"And before that, I have to make sure that your powers are fully unlocked, and you master them without needing Otis’ help anymore. Otis taught you in a very soft way. I don’t like it because it will take a long time. The way Otis trained you, I think it will take a year until you master your power properly."

"One year?" Arielle asked in surprise.

She couldn’t stay here that long. Arielle had to go back to Ronan right away. She must immediately save Northendell before more victims fall. Arielle had also promised to come back soon, and one year was a very long time...

"Then, you’re going to train me?" she asked.

"Of course. Consider it an honor because the leader of the dragon clan would teach such a lowly human," Maxieno replied proudly.

Arielle nodded her head. "So, if Otis takes a year, then what about you? How long can I master my power if I learn from you?"

Maxieno leaned forward and smiled at Arielle.

"Just one month. Maybe less than that. However, being my disciple requires very strong courage because I prefer to teach someone in a rough way."

Maxieno had seen how Arielle always pushed herself to the limit several times. Her tenacity was commendable. From Maxieno’s observation, Arielle was the type who learned very hard, while Otis preferred it in a slow and gentle way. It would take so long.

Maxieno preferred to see Arielle learn until her hands were burned. After all, she could heal again later. That way, the girl would gain experience and bring out her own instincts. Meanwhile, listening to the theory, concentrating, and not overdoing it for too long, they were a waste of time and energy.

"Rough way?"

"Yes, studying under me will injure you."

"Am I going to die?" Arielle asked worriedly. She was a bit hesitant because she saw Maxieno’s satisfied smile who seemed on planning to torture her.

"Oh, of course not. However, what I’m about to do later will be very painful," Maxieno said.

"What if I don’t master my power within a month?"

"Hm... that’s a difficult question," Maxieno replied. "Then, we need to extend another month," he continued, making Arielle even more doubtful.

Seeing Arielle’s disappointed face, Maxieno burst out laughing. "I’m just kidding! Of course, you will be able to master your power in less than a month!"

"What if you don’t?"

"No if! I am the strongest person on this earth! I can even make you my strongest human ever! Don’t underestimate my teaching ability!" Maxieno said, making Arielle nod.

"Sorry, I was just a little hesitant."

"Hmph! I am the greatest. You must clear your doubts every time you act. Humans and their insecurities... are disgusting," said Maxieno sarcastically to Arielle.

"Then, when do we start?" asked Arielle.

"I will train you tomorrow morning. Tonight, you have to rest first. Then, after you have mastered your power, the next step is to attack the territory of the werewolf clan. Do you understand up to here?" Maxieno asked.

"Yes, I understand."

"Then, get out. I want to open all my windows so there’s no human smell left in here. I don’t like it," said Maxieno, who then kicked Arielle out of his room.

Even the empty cup the man had provided earlier had not been filled with any liquid at all. Maxieno had no intention of hosting Arielle in earnest. The girl lowered her head, making Maxieno nod in satisfaction with her polite attitude even though he often found Arielle’s attitude unpleasant.

Arielle returned to her room. She stood by the window to look at the moon and the green leaves that stretched out in front of her.

Arielle wanted to call Ronan back, but when she tried to open her head a little, Maxieno’s voice sounded inside her head again.

(Good try. Do you want to do the same thing as in the hut?) asked Maxieno and Arielle immediately cut off the link.

Arielle widened her eyes. No way... It was impossible for Maxieno to see inside Arielle’s head the night she touched herself with Ronan’s voice, right? Her face turned red and immediately ran over to the bed to hide herself.

Those golden eyes really intimidated her and made Arielle uncomfortable. She was tossing and turning on the bed because she couldn’t sleep because of Maxieno’s voice that slipped quickly inside her head. Arielle cursed to herself, trying to hide her embarrassment. She prayed that Maxieno wouldn’t say anything tomorrow morning.

The next day finally came. Arielle didn’t sleep all night because she was overthinking with her own assumptions. So in the early hours of the morning when everyone was still asleep, she looked for cleaning tools then cleaned several empty rooms full of dust and dirty debris.

Arielle tied a cloth in front of her mouth and nose to prevent dust from getting into her nose or mouth. She continued to clean every room until morning came, and she met Otis who had just come out of a food storage room with a basket full of boiled chicken.

"Arielle, what are you doing?" Otis asked.

Arielle remembered what Maxieno had said about her being a servant to the dragon clan, so Otis wouldn’t suspect anything.

"From today on, I will help you, Otis. You are very old, in fact you are much older than Tania. You should rest more. Let me do everything," Arielle said, then took the basket brought by Otis.

"No, Arielle. This is not your job. You’re here to learn to master your power. You have no duty to serve the dragons."

"I have the same task because now I am also one of the servants of the dragon clan," Arielle replied with a wide smile, making Otis speechless.

"What do you mean?"

Arielle slightly lifted the hem of her sleeve to reveal a tattoo that wrapped around her wrist. A red tendril with a small dragon in the center made Otis shut his mouth in disbelief.

"You made a deal with Maximeno?"

Otis grabbed the chicken basket again and put it on the floor. Then, he dragged Arielle into one of the empty rooms. He looked back first, hoping that no dragon would hear their conversation.

"What have you done, Arielle?" Otis asked while looking at Arielle’s wrist, hoping the tattoo would disappear after he rubbed it many times.

"Otis?"

"Don’t you know what this is?"

"A seal of agreement?" Arielle replied with uncertainty.

Otis fell to the floor, making Arielle confused.

"Otis? What is it?" Arielle asked frantically.

Otis looked at Arielle’s face. "Did Maxieno force you to make this agreement?"

Arielle shook her head. "I agree with what Maxieno has to offer and wishes."

"May I know what agreement you made with him?"

"I... offer to serve the dragon clan as a servant with Maxieno’s offer to help me save Irene from the werewolf clan and get the blood snowdrop flower that the werewolf clan is so protective of."

Otis shook his head. "Arielle... this seal isn’t just an ordinary seal. There’s no way Maxieno just wants to exchange something like that with you," said Otis, making Arielle feel like she couldn’t lie anymore.

"I... Maxieno said that Abigail wasn’t able to incubate her eggs until they hatched and said that my flames were almost the same as Abigail’s. She wanted me to help her hatch Abigail’s eggs. In exchange, Maxieno offered to teach me to master my power in no time and the same thing for the werewolf clan. Otis, have I done something wrong?" Arielle asked frantically while looking at the speechless Otis.

Otis rubbed his face. "Arielle, the seal on your hand is basically the same thing as Amadea’s curse on King Theodore’s descendant."

"What do you mean? Has King Theodore ever made a deal with Amadea?"

Otis shook his head.

"More than that."
