Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 288: How Ronan Met William, Lazarus, and Kael
Things changed when one day, while Ronan was sitting on his own while reading a book near a river, William suddenly pulled his hand, asking for his help to help a student who was drowned in the river. The famous Ronan could be dragged away at once to help the drowning student.
Ronan, who didn’t like being told to, refused William’s request and told him to just call the teacher considering the Northendell river was freezing.
Suddenly, Lazarus jumped into the river to help the child, but he could not swim at that time. William made Ronan even more annoyed and finally decided to help them.
Ronan almost drowned because he dragged two people who couldn’t swim at all at the same time. What’s more was that Lazarus kept struggling in panic, it gave Ronan extra trouble. Finally, after so much struggle, the teacher arrived in a hurry to help the three of them.
It turned out that the child who was almost drowned in the river was Kael.
From then on William and Lazarus continued to force Kael to thank Ronan. Ronan kept avoiding the three of them, but William and Lazarus didn’t understand what private space meant. Since then, Ronan began to be forced to accept them to be his new group.
Until now, Ronan and Kael were the two people who didn’t care about each other the most, but there was always William and Lazarus that brought the four of them together. Ronan never directly apologized or thanked him for that matters. He still treated William like his subordinate.
"Is that so... But I think William would get more golden opportunities to become an influential person out there if he chose to leave me," he said with a low voice.
Arielle shook her head disapprovingly.
"When dealing with people we deeply care for, one will never count on the loss or gain. They just follow their heart," she replied.
Ronan didn’t answer. He let William’s topic pass by.
"Then, how about this Priestess Unor Journal book?" asked Arielle, opening the first page of the book.
"It is the book of Priestess Unor’s journey before becoming queen. There are several stories about how she encountered various mana users across the continents."
Arielle felt more and more interested in the book. She opened the book and skimmed each page of the book. There were several trigrams as well as small sketches drawn to clarify the description of the book.
"I’ll start reading it tonight."
"Good. And Arielle?"
"Yes, Ronan?"
"Tomorrow, I will open the palace in the monthly agenda. Just like the last month, I will allow representatives of people from all over the kingdom to enter the palace to meet me in person and state their problems."
"Oh, that agenda!" Arielle exclaimed with excitement.
Arielle became enthusiastic and curious. Nieverdell Palace was never opened to its citizens. Every problem would be represented by the Dukes who came for regular meetings with the king. Her father never heard the complaints of his people directly.
"I’ll be inviting almost all the Dukes and some higher-ups.’"
"That means Priest Elis will be with you all day, too?" asked Arielle.
He nodded. That meant Arielle couldn’t ask about her hands tomorrow.
"Ah, so you will be very busy tomorrow?" she asked.
"Yes, and I plan to invite you to see the process."
"Eh? I-I’ll be in the hall with you?" asked Arielle who panicked. She wasn’t sure if her presence was really needed or not. She was curious about what kind of problems Ronan would receive, and how he solved it. However, being there as an outsider would be very awkward for her.
To be present in front of the higher-ups of Northendell, it was truly nerve-wracking. Arielle also had no importance to stay there. What if they didn’t like the presence of anyone other than Northerners? What should Arielle do?
"What do you think? Do you want to see it?" offered Ronan once more.
"Honestly, I’m quite curious because the last time I met people who complained about their problems. I wanted to know what results they got. It’s just... appearing in front of Northendell’s citizens..." Arielle lowered her head dejectedly. "Looks like I’m not ready for that yet."
Ronan smiled behind his mask. He could understand why Arielle was still nervous. Most of her life, she stayed in the shadows. The girl was only recognized after her family had passed away, and she just made her public debut a few days ago with Archie. She was not used to public attention.
However, as a queen, of course, she couldn’t always hide in the dark. People would continue to cheer her name later. Therefore, Ronan wanted to encourage Arielle to leave her dark room and face the public slowly.
He knows he couldn’t force Arielle, so he would adjust it according to how the girl wanted.
"I understand your concern, but you need not worry. If you don’t want to be seen I have many ways. I just want you to remember some of the faces of Northendell’s higher-ups, and introduce you to the Northendell royal system."
"I’d be happy to learn it," Arielle replied.

"Can I read this book in my room?" asked Arielle while showing Priestess Unor’s jurnal book. She couldn’t wait to read it. However, if she came back with Ronan, she wasn’t sure she could focus on reading.
Ronan nodded. He did intend to show that book to Arielle. It was one of the books he had read at the academy, about how the history of mana was found across the continent.
"For tomorrow, you don’t need to be present from the beginning. Come visit when you are free. I’m not forcing you," said Ronan, reminding her of his agenda for tomorrow.
"Thank you. I’ll come because I want to know how you handle the citizens who come to solve their problems."
Ronan nodded enthusiastically. The man stood up to escort Arielle back to her room. Along the way, the two chose silence to enjoy their time together. They stopped at the Whitethorn’s entrance.
"From here, I can go back to my room by myself," Arielle said as they arrived in front of the Whitethorn palace. "You should come back soon to rest. You have a busy day tomorrow. I don’t want you to be sick," she added.
"Hm... I’ll go after you kiss me," Ronan replied bluntly.
