Chapter 276: Ronan’s Sudden Appearance

"Ronan!?"

"Yes, Love?"

"What are you doing here?"

"I miss you, Love."

"But..."

Ronan nuzzled Arielle’s body and pecked her lips to stop her from talking. The man walked in casually and then hugged her tightly. She was still astounded by Ronan’s sudden arrival, so she didn’t hug him back. He always appeared at unexpected times.

"You don’t want to hug me back?" Ronan whispered in Arielle’s ear, making her startled and back away slightly.

Ronan knew ears were one of Arielle’s sensitive areas and he truly enjoyed Arielle’s reaction.

"Did William know you left the palace?" Arielle asked, slipping her fingers in between his hand.

"No, he didn’t know."

"How about Kael? Did he know you were coming?"

"If he had known, I wouldn’t have visited through the window, would I?"

"Ronan..." sighed Arielle, losing her words on how to respond.

He smirked. Arielle raised her hand and rubbed the scar on his left cheek.

"I don’t know what to do now," the girl said with a soft chuckle.

"Just be happy," replied Ronan in a teasing tone.

Ronan leaned his face toward Arielle, then rested his forehead on her shoulder. Their height difference made her have to tiptoe to hug the man’s shoulders.

"What is it?" asked Arielle who felt Ronan’s attitude was strange.

"Lucas sent me a newspaper with a picture of you with Archie. I just realized that I don’t have a picture of you in the North for me to see. Every night I can only daydream thinking about you."

Arielle let go of their embrace and led Ronan to sit on her bed. The man spread his legs and pulled Arielle to stand between his thighs. His hands were wrapped around the girl’s waist while resting his chin on her chest.

"Do you always think of me?"

"I do," he answered briefly.

Arielle cupped Ronan’s face with both hands and stroked the man’s messy black hair every so often.

"Our lips are getting closer now. Can I have my kiss?" he asked with a playful smile.

Arielle kissed Ronan’s forehead lightly. However, he shook his head, showing that it wasn’t the kiss he wanted. She refused to follow what he wanted and still played around by kissing his eyelids, and as expected he shook his head.

She kissed the tip of the man’s nose and again he shook his head in disappointment. She tilted her face and kissed his left cheek to right cheek alternately, but he also refused. Then, she kissed the tip of his chin and he shook his head once again.

"You’re going to kiss me anywhere but my lips, huh?"

Arielle laughed. She looked so adorable in his eyes.

"How are your legs? Do they still hurt?" asked the man as he lifted Arielle’s dress to look at the girl’s ankles.

"My legs have recovered. I can walk without crutches now."

Arielle held both of Ronan’s hands that wrapped around her waist. She twirled her body momentarily, then tiptoed on the floor, showing him that her legs were fine.

The man couldn’t help but smile when he knew that she had recovered. He stretched out his hand again to pull her body closer, but Arielle quickly dodged away. She preferred to sit on one of the wooden chairs near the open window.

Ronan didn’t know what Arielle had planned by avoiding him like this. He decided to give the girl space and lay down on the bed. He tilted his body and then held his head with his palms.

"What is it, Arielle? You look restless tonight," said Ronan.

Since all the lights were off, the only source of lighting in the room was moonlight coming through the window. From where she was sitting, Arielle could see the man’s serious face.

"I feel... nervous for tomorrow," She replied honestly.

These few days Arielle had tried to distract herself. She tried her best to not think about Archie’s coronation day. Every time she thought about it, her heart would beat faster, making her nervous.

Tomorrow, it was just her and Archie, and they were both the only King Hugo’s descendant who was still alive, so there was no reason for her to hide anymore.

Imagining many eyes were on her made Arielle’s legs tremble. Every night a lot of questions ran through her mind, making her head stuffed. It caused her to sleep a bit later than she used to.

Starting from, what would they say about her? Then, would they ask about the relationship between Arielle and her family? Or maybe they would ask how did Arielle survive alone when her family was dead or lost along with the ruins of the palace?

Archie said that her appearance in the newspapers had quite a positive response, but that alone didn’t make her feel relieved. Of the many people in the kingdom, there would surely be someone who suspected her about what happened that night.

What if Queen Rosalie’s family or another noble family interrogated her? What should she say?

Ronan tapped his index finger on the bed while watching Arielle who was busy with her own thoughts. He waited for her to realize that he was still waiting. The moonlight clearly showed the girl’s tension.

Ronan wanted to help her relax more.

"Ah!" Arielle snapped her eyes. She just remembered that she was daydreaming and ignoring Ronan there. "I’m sorry. I was daydreaming earlier."

He nodded in understanding. "What are you nervous about?"

"I... have a little worry. Tomorrow, for the first time I will meet again with the royal family. There will be many high-ranking royals and nobles who will also attend. Maybe some of the higher-ups and other noble families already know me... and I’m afraid they won’t like my existence."

Arielle felt insecure. She had met Queen Rosalie’s family several times, and she felt uncomfortable with them, too.

"What if they mess up Archie’s coronation day? Archie has been working hard to prepare for tomorrow."

"Everything will be fine, Arielle."

Ronan got off Arielle’s bed and approached the girl. "You think too much. I’ll help you relax a bit."

"But... What if there are people who don’t like Archie? Or... what if I took a wrong step and fell in front of a lot of people? What if I make a mistake later and only disappoint Archie?"

"For the second time, Arielle. Everything will be fine."

Ronan crouched in front of Arielle. The man touched both of her feet, causing the girl to tiptoed in surprise. His serious expression was replaced with a playful smile. She covered her mouth quickly when he ran his big hand from behind the skirt of the dress she was wearing.

"Roan?" called Arielle in a whisper.

"Shh... I just wanted you to relax. I don’t want you to be stressed out over trivial things. You should glow tomorrow."

"But... what are you doing?" asked Arielle nervously.

"Leave everything to me," Ronan replied proudly.

Ronan took off Arielle’s shoes and then massaged her ankles gently. He touched her toes from time to time, making the girl move restlessly in her seat.

"Th-that’s ridiculous, don’t..." she said with a blush on her face. She had a feeling Ronan would do something more than just massage her.
