Chapter 275: The Day Before The Coronation

Two days had passed in a blink of an eye. Tomorrow was the day Archie would ascend to the throne and become a King of Nieverdell in place of his father. Arielle would also attend that crucial day, standing with him as part of the Nieverdell royal family.

The coronation was held in the capital’s cathedral because it was impossible to conduct it in the palace. After the coronation, Archie would stay in Ambrose’s residence until the construction of the palace was finished.

Duke Ambrose had bought Arielle a new dress for her to wear on the coronation day. She was very moved to get such a beautiful dress from him. The dress fitted her character well and accentuated her beauty. The Duke also ordered a new crown for her, so she could wear it to match Archie’s crown.

Arielle was currently in the library with Duke Ambrose and Archie, talking about lots of things about the coronation day. Arielle was asked by Archie to be his spectator while he practiced walking inside the Cathedral later. Duke Ambrose had also assessed the speech the man was going to speak as a new king.

Lucas and Tania also joined them, but they left a while ago because they had to take care of Sasha.

"Are you nervous?" asked Arielle when Archie took a break.

"Yeah, I’ve never had a speech in front of many people. Usually, I always sit behind my father or Alexis."

Duke Ambrose cleared his throat, asking Archie to stop talking about the past. It would only distract him. Tomorrow was a very crucial event, so Archie must feel that he was the most worthy person for the throne and not compare himself to anyone else.

Arielle bit his lip to hold back her smile when she saw Archie was frowning because he was being scolded by his grandfather.

"After you take your oath later, the burden on your shoulders will be far heavier than the weight of your crown," Duke Ambrose said firmly.

Arielle had gotten the same advice from Duke Ambrose before. The old man said that after becoming a king, he should not be selfish or only think about the crown.

Every problem of the citizens of Nieverdell was a problem for the king himself because the key element of a kingdom was the citizens. A man could not become a king if he didn’t have people under his regime.

Arielle remembered how Ronan always opened the door of his palace every month to listen to the problems of his people. She was of those people once, waiting for her turn to convey her grievance. The girl couldn’t help but smile when the memories of that day flashed in her mind.

It was evening, and there seemed to be no sign that Archie would stop his practice.

"Duke Ambrose, may I go to my room? It’s getting late."

Duke Ambrose looked towards the window and nodded. "You’re right. You may rest, princess." said the old man.

Arielle stood up and waved her hand at Archie. The man stretched out his hand as if asking her to stay with him a little longer.

"Are you tired?" Archie asked.

"I should also get ready to return to the North, right?"

"Ah, I just remembered that you’re going home tomorrow too."

"I promised to someone I’ll be back after your coronation."

Archie nodded weakly. "I see. Then, have a good rest."

Arielle once again bid her goodbye to Duke Ambrose and left the library. Before returning to her chamber, she took the time to visit Sasha’s room. Some part of the bandages on the boy’s body had been removed. He had also learned to move his bones again, although he was not yet allowed to walk right away.

Kael was always loyal to his subordinates, thus he accompanied Sasha. While Lucas and Tania took turns looking after the boy and helping him to eat.

"Good afternoon, Princess Arielle!" said the child cheerfully.

"Hi! Are you feeling better now?" asked Arielle as she approached.

"Much better. The food here is really delicious. I get better faster because of the food."

Lucas and Arielle laughed at the boy’s ramblings. "Get some more rest. We’ll be going to the North tomorrow."

"Yeah! I can’t wait to go back North!" Sasha exclaimed, making the hearts of everyone in the room warm. "And I will collect Lord Kael’s promise of a reward for me!"

"You are eager to go back home just to get the reward, huh?" Kael asked. Sasha just laughed, not answering the man’s question.

Arielle left Sasha’s room, which was crowded with people. She returned to her darkroom. She deliberately ordered Tania not to turn on the lights because she wanted to be quiet that night. Tomorrow was a big day where everyone would meet her in person.

Arielle had been trying to cover up her nervousness but to no avail. In the past, she almost never took part in royal activities. Her family also didn’t invite her, so his seat was always empty. She was not used to being seen by many people and tomorrow she should face that fear.

All day, she had tried to distract herself from the image of Archie’s coronation tomorrow. She would sit in the front row of the Cathedral later, and Archie would also invite her to sit together in the open carriage to greet the citizens during the journey from the cathedral to the Ambrose residence.

The girl opened her window wide to see the moon shining brightly in the peak of the sky. It was the last night before she returned to Northendell tomorrow. She would never see rows of colorful flowers or sunshine again. A smile was engraved on her lips when she felt the breeze grazing on her skin. It gave her peace and calmed her anxiety.

For the first time, Nieverdell brought peace to Arielle.

"You look beautiful," someone said, surprising Arielle.

His eyes widened at the sight of Ronan, who had jumped from above, then stood up to the window steel.

"Ronan?"
