Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 253: You Will All Get Your Karma
Once, a few hundred years ago, Nieverdell experienced a long famine that made the water in all parts of the kingdom dried and left a drought. After the previous king performed a ritual, it rained the next day.
So, since then, the kingdom had always commemorated the turn of the late summer into the rainy season with a massive festival.
Arielle just stayed in her room while accompanying Tania. From where she sat Arielle could see the maids who started hanging lanterns one by one.
She wanted to see the Northerners again, but she couldn’t leave Tania alone. What if, when Arielle left the palace, Tania also disappeared and could no longer be found like Sasha. She didn’t want to risk it.
From where she sat, Arielle could only daydream.
The door was gently knocked, and Olin appeared, saying that King Hugo was waiting for Arielle to arrive. She saw Tania, who was still fast asleep. Arielle thought that she would be fine if the one calling her was her father. As long as it was not Andrea or Queen Rosalie, Arielle could still breathe a sigh of relief.
She brushed off her clothes to make sure she was clean enough to face her father.
"Sorry, Princess. This will be a formal meeting. You must wear your royal clothes and attributes."
Arielle didn’t say anything. She immediately changed into a nicer dress. It was her birthday dress, and it still fit. It looked conservative and simple, but what made it look a little extravagant was the flared skirt.
"Need help getting dressed?" offered Olin.
Arielle didn’t answer. She grabbed a red sash and put it on herself. Even when Olin came forward to help style the girl’s hair, Arielle slapped Olin’s hand quite hard.
Arielle combed her own hair. She didn’t have a mirror in her room. So far, Tania had often assisted her with hair matters. Thus, Arielle did not curl or tie her long white hair. She let her beautiful hair loose.
Olin took out a small wooden box, and it was Arielle’s tiara that was kept by the palace. Something that was only issued for a formal event.
Olin took out a small tiara. When the woman tried to attach it to Arielle, the girl raised her hand to hold Olin’s hand.
"I can do it myself," said the girl briefly, making Olin stunned.
"O-okay," replied Olin nervously.
At that time, Olin was quite surprised because it seemed that Princess Arielle had changed a lot. Even though not long ago, the girl was still crying because she was sad that Olin didn’t acknowledge her as a friend anymore.
Under the eyes, Arielle had a bit of eye bags. Arielle was now very tired and did not want to be bothered. She wished time could speed up until she, Tania, and Sasha returned to the North without having to go through all of this.
The girl turned around, making Olin immediately reach out her hand to ask Arielle to follow behind her. Arielle walked quietly behind Olin. As she passed through the palace halls, she saw the soldiers getting busier and busier.
Were they getting ready to welcome Ronan tomorrow? Arielle asked in her heart. She prayed that no Northerners were hurt.
"We’re not going to meet Father in his study?" Arielle asked Olin as they turned towards the main hall of the palace.
From where she was walking, she could see the two large doors of the palace’s main hall were wide open, which meant that her father wasn’t just waiting for her. All her family, elders, and advisors would be there too.
"They want to see what damage they have done," Arielle muttered sadly.
Arielle entered. She bowed respectfully to greet everyone in the room. Alexis’ seat was in the middle, and Archie’s seat beside Andrea was empty. Arielle only knew that Archie would be assigned to guard the port, and today a ship from the North would arrive to bring the gifts for Arielle.
Arielle’s eyes were fixed on the jewelry that Annalise was wearing. When Annalise felt she was being stared at so intently, she glared at Arielle. Arielle relented by looking away and walking to the end of the row of chairs. Olin pulled up a chair at the end of the king’s row of children’s chairs.
"My necklace was taken by Annalise, apparently."
Arielle shook her head in disbelief, couldn’t believe Annalise stole her jewelry. She was one of the most pampered princesses. Annalise had everything.
Andrea still often chose books over jewelry. Meanwhile, Annalise was everyone’s favorite child. Her adorable and sweet demeanor made them pamper Annalise by constantly giving her valuables.
Even the other concubines spoiled Annalize a lot even though they already had their own daughters. Maybe Annalise’s jewelry was even much more than Andrea’s collection, who was the king’s eldest daughter.
From the row of children of the king, Arielle was the one who looked the most pitiful. While the rest of her siblings wore dresses that had lots of ribbons and diamonds, Arielle only wore simple dresses with a ribbon belt that formed a rose behind her back.
That was the only ornament on her dress. Besides that, the tiara they had was really much prettier than Arielle’s, which only had one pearl in front of it.
Arielle was used to all of this, so she could still sit quietly even though some of her siblings started whispering to judge her appearance.
As Arielle began to daydream, her body stiffened when she heard heavy footsteps behind her. She turned quickly and saw two knights in full armor standing behind her chair. She glanced over at her brother’s creaking chair, which was empty before.
Aron, her other older brother, chuckled and whispered to Arielle.
"So you don’t run away," he said.
"Run away from what? I’ve been sitting here quietly. This is too much," Arielle replied, making Aron frown in annoyance. He didn’t like it when Arielle talk back to him.
"Tsk, since when did you dare to reply to my words? Don’t talk back to me." Aron deliberately put pressure on Arielle’s arm to intimidate the girl.
Arielle stared at the man for a moment, then straightened her sitting position to face the front. Being ignored like that made Aron pull Arielle’s arm hard.
"Why don’t you answer me?"
"Didn’t you just tell me not to talk back to you?" asked Arielle in an innocent tone.
An annoyed Aron growled as he clenched his fists tightly. "If we were alone, I’d hit your head, Arielle. Don’t feel confident just yet because a king proposed for your hand in marriage. In the end, you will be thrown back by Andrea to the mud, you bastard child."
Arielle clenched her jaw to stop herself from crying. She wanted to slap Aron’s mouth. The man was only one year older than her. So, maybe he didn’t remember that Arielle’s mother had lived in the palace. Arielle tried to stay positive in order to keep calm.
Aron who was already annoyed was made even more annoyed because Arielle was not affected by his words. The girl cast her glance around the hall and tried her best to ignore Aron, who kept talking to her.
"Ooh?? Did you know that Duke Pellington already has two wives? Hmm? How is it? What do you think an old man like him wants from an outcast like you? You don’t have any power to offer. I’m sure the answer is only one. You will only be made into a sex slave, and on your first night, you will be raped until-"
"Aron," Arielle called in a trembling voice.
Arielle’s patience had run out. Her hands gripped her dress tightly. She looked down so Aron wouldn’t see her emotions. "Aron... you will be the first person I mention to someone."
"Oh? Do you have someone who will protect you? Who? King Ronan D Bitch? I’ll be the one in the front row to see him get beheaded, and we’ll feast here with the heads of the Northerners we capture." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Arielle took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She turned to Aron and smirked. "I’ll forgive you, Aron. Always... because you are my brother,"
Aron laughed, mocking Arielle. "Tch, I don’t need your forgiveness."
"Of course, you don’t need it now. You will need that pardon ticket after meeting someone later. And I’ll make sure it’s not that easy to get that person’s forgiveness," Arielle replied, still with her friendly smile.
For a few seconds, Aron felt scared, but the man cleared his throat and adjusted his position to face forward.
One tear rolled down her cheek. "You will all get your karma," whispered Arielle alone.
