Chapter 247: A Touch In The Crowd

The streets of the capital city were getting busier and rows of shops, restaurants, and inns were brightly lit. It welcomed many new customers who came from outside the capital to enjoy the famous summer festival day.

Seeing the girl holding her mother’s hand made Arielle remember Sasha.

"Soon it will be night. Sasha doesn’t need to come to visit?" asked Arielle, who was worried.

Kael, who was giving his opinion, stopped and looked at William.

"Wait a minute, I’ll look outside first. Is Heath back or not."

William then left their meeting room once again. Lazarus stretched his tired body.

"Ah... it’s been a long time since I’ve been playing on a ship. The last pirates I fought were several months ago when my ship visited the Karmin islands," said Lazarus to make the atmosphere of the room more relaxed. Talking about war tactics at the last minute like this was exhausting.

"Isn’t the Karmin Archipelago on another continent? In the east of the open sea at the end of Thebis?" William asked.

Lazarus confirmed it. The two of them then started talking about Lazarus’ many journeys in the ocean. While Arielle was still sitting anxiously in her place, waiting for Sasha’s presence.

Arielle immediately stood up when William opened the door.

"How is it?"

"Heath said Sasha hasn’t come out of the palace at all. One of the other spies was having a bit of a hard time leaving his post as they were being put under heavy guard for the next few days, and many guards were brought in to fulfill the capacity of soldiers. So many of our spies are not in the palace."

Archie looked at Nieverdell’s sky, which was getting darker.

"I think dinner time is over. We can go home, Arielle. And I must hurry to the port tomorrow morning."

"Oh, all right. I also have to meet Sasha and Tania."

Arielle then patted Lazarus’s and Kael’s shoulders. "You have no idea how relieved I am after seeing you guys again. Thank you and please take care of yourselves."

"You don’t need to wait any longer. Maybe His Majesty the King will come soon," William said, making Arielle hesitate.

Arielle turned to Archie for an opinion. "If you want to stay here longer. I can pass it on to Tania and your little maid."

"I don’t think that’s the best decision. I wanted to make sure Sasha was okay. I can still meet you here, right?"

William nodded, and Arielle said goodbye to their meeting room. William led Arielle to the door. She also thanked Johan, the owner of the inn.

Arielle gave Archie’s coat to the owner. "Brother needs it more. Don’t let anyone see you, brother. Brother Archie is more recognized here than I am."

Archie nodded and put on his coat. He lowered his hood to cover his entire face.

The streets were very busy at night. Many people flocked to visit the capital city. Even as they passed through the square, Arielle was forced to bring her body into contact with Archie’s. The girl lowered her head apologetically to her brother for fear of making Archie uncomfortable.

"It doesn’t matter. Hold my hand, so you don’t get lost."

Arielle looked at Archie’s outstretched elbow. Arielle looked so doubtful that Archie pulled the girl’s hand and wrapped it around his arm.

The two walked side by side. This afternoon, they had passed the same road at a very wide distance, but now they were walking in the same place, hand in hand.

"Why did they choose a place in the middle of the crowd, Archie? Aren’t you afraid of being found out?" asked Arielle to hide her happiness while holding her own brother’s hand after nineteen years.

"Because the best place to hide a secret is in front of the public eye. With this, they wouldn’t suspect why the inn could be full right? Everything will blend into the public crowd and not arise any suspicion."

Arielle nodded her head in understanding. Their steps were slightly halted as they passed a very busy food stall. The queues even reached the streets.

"Even though the festival is still two days away, but tonight feels like the night of the festival itself," Arielle said, making Archie chuckle softly.

"Would you like to eat first before heading back home?" he offered.

"Hm... I’m worried about Sasha right now."

"Ah... that’s how it is. How about this, we’re going to buy food at a small shop to take home. But if we don’t find any shops along the way, we go straight home."

Arielle wanted to refuse, but she didn’t. Maybe Archie was really hungry and delaying her return a few minutes wouldn’t be a problem. The girl nodded in agreement with Archie’s idea. The two of them walked while looking for a quieter food stall.

Arielle and Archie arrived at a seafood shop that didn’t have too many customers. Arielle chose to wait outside the shop while looking at the types of seafood on display in the shop’s glass window.

"EH!" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Arielle was startled and turned around quickly. She felt someone touch her back all of a sudden. She couldn’t find anyone behind her. Only a few women looked at her strangely as she screamed in surprise.

The girl pressed her hips. Her heart was beating fast. She tried to make her way through the crowd to find someone, but Archie’s voice stopped her.

"Arielle? Where do you want to go? I’ve brought the food," Archie called.

Arielle tried to look around her once more but found no one there. The girl turned slowly with her head full of questions.

"What are you looking for?" Archie asked.

"Eh.. it-it’s nothing. I just thought I saw someone familiar."

"Oh.. then let’s go home."

"Okay."

Arielle held her neck, which felt hot. Her face also felt hotter from the blush. Arielle wasn’t hallucinating. The sensations in her back and hips felt very real.

The girl pursed her lips to keep from smiling widely.

Arielle was sure that the man had visited her.

Ronan whispered, "I miss you, sweetheart,", holding her hips and then kissing her back. But when Arielle realized it, the man had disappeared into the crowd.
