Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 244: The Unexpected Trio
"Do you have more questions?" Archie asked her.
Arielle thought for a moment, then shook her head. "Not even about your mother?"
"Huh?"
"I heard from Alexis that Duke Pellington told you who your mother was. Honestly, I don’t remember much because I was six years old at the time. I just remember that the woman looked so much like you. She had shiny white hair and beautiful black eyes. That’s all I remember."
"It doesn’t matter. I’m not really that curious either, considering I don’t have any memories of my mother either. My mother only conceived and gave birth to me." Arielle smiled sadly, and Archie could see it. "Even if one day my mother comes back to life, I will prefer Tania because she has been by my side since I was little."
Archie’s heart ached when he saw Arielle start to cry. The man took off his coat and put it on his sister so no one could see. Archie pulled Arielle’s head to cry on his shoulder.
The atmosphere of the inn was getting busier, and Arielle’s crying voice began to be muffled by the noise. Archie used the opportunity to express his heart.
"Arielle... I’m sorry for what I did when we were little."
He remembered his past memories. He was one of Arielle’s worst bullies. Archie once hit Arielle in the head when the girl accidentally spilled her drink on Andrea. Archie once even stoned Arielle and called her a witch child but he was immediately stopped by Alexis.
Archie also once made Arielle chased by a guard dog in the forest, causing his sister to faint. He did not know whether his sin could be forgiven by Arielle or not, but he would go to the port tomorrow and today was probably his last meeting with Arielle.
Before the two of them parted, Archie wanted to lift the weight on his heart. The man let out a long sigh and hugged his little sister tightly.
"I... have treated you very badly, Arielle. Knowingly, I once harmed you and almost hurt you. It was all due to my dictated naivety. People said that you deserve to be hated, and I could only go along with it without thinking."
"Archie...?"
"Arielle, from the bottom of my heart, I apologize for my past stupidity," Archie said as he hugged his sister tighter.
Arielle blinked her eyes in surprise. The rest of her tears were still on her cheeks. Arielle was processing Archie’s words once again. His apology just now felt so sincere that Arielle couldn’t help but nod.
The girl wrapped her arms around Archie’s back and nodded. "With pleasure."
"Ahem!"
Archie and Arielle let go of their embrace and looked back. Arielle’s mouth opened wide to see who was standing behind her.
"William!" cried Arielle happily. The girl even jumped from her bar stool to hug William tightly.
"Whaaat??? I’m right in front of William!" cried Lazarus, who had spread his arms, thinking Arielle would hug him first because he was standing in front of William and Kael.
William also returned Arielle’s hug awkwardly. He was a little grateful that Ronan wasn’t with them at the moment so that he could keep his head after this hug.
Arielle released her arms from William and then turned to Kael, who was standing by silently. The girl smiled widely and spread her arms. Kael then returned the hug from the princess briefly.
"Hey, Lazarus! Nice to see you here!" said Arielle to Lazarus.
"Princess! What kind of treatment is this! I’m the only one who hasn’t been hugged here yet!" Lazarus protested, but Arielle ignored him.
She looked around the inn and felt strange. Everyone looked so relaxed even though William, Kael, and Lazarus were showing their faces. She was also looking for Ronan’s whereabouts.
"Ahem... His Majesty the King is still stuck in the border area because he has something to take care of with Thebis. He will arrive at the right time."
"Oh.. then... how can the three of you already be here? And wouldn’t William normally accompany His Majesty the King at times like this?"
"That’s right, it’s just that... the things that require delegation and negotiations have been completed. This is for His Majesty’s personal needs only. He also gave me a message to look after you for a few days before the handover and the formal entourage arrives in the capital."
"Oh, that means you guys are going incognito here?" asked Arielle, frantically putting on the hoods of William, Kael, and Lazarus’ coats.
William laughed at the princess’s panicked expression. It felt like it had been a long time since they had seen that woman. Princess Arielle was still as beautiful and kind as ever.
"You don’t have to worry, my lady," said the shop owner, who was cleaning a glass with a napkin. The man smiled kindly. "I have sorted the incoming customers. The only customers that are allowed in are the northerners."
He added, "If anyone outside the north is looking for lodging we will say that the rooms are fully booked as the festival day draws near."
"Oh, I see..." said Arielle with relief. She turned back quickly to Archie, who was still sitting quietly sipping his drink.
Arielle rushed to stand beside Archie and put her hand on the man’s shoulder. "Archie... are you... on our side?"
"From the beginning," Archie replied curtly.
Arielle covered her mouth. Because she was happy, she hugged Archie without asking permission. She felt very happy and relieved. Archie just rubbed Arielle’s shoulder with one hand.
"That means I won’t be marrying Duke Pellington, right? You are my brother who will be by my side, right?" asked Arielle making Archie smile in amusement.
"It’s up to you. If you think marrying Duke Pellington will make you happier then I will try my best to make you marry Duke Pellington," Archie replied casually making Arielle shake her head quickly.
"N-not like that!"
Archie chuckled and lightly patted Arielle’s head. "I understand. You don’t have to worry. You will not marry that old geezer."
