Love You Till the End-Chapter 773 - 771: Do You Have Time to Go Out for Dinner and Karaoke?
Shi Mei just gave her an indifferent glance before moving his gaze away, turning to look outside the balcony. His slender fingers gently tapped on the cigarette butt, his nonchalant demeanor both languid and sexy.
"I’m going back to my room to change clothes."
Shi Keke also just glanced at him once before entering her room, and soon came out in a different outfit—a simple white T-shirt, faded jeans, with her hair casually put up, looking neat and capable.
Since she only brought one gown over last night, there were no other gowns to change into, so she had no choice but to dress like that.
Shi Mei sized up her attire with a cold gaze, but he did not offer any comment.
"Let’s go."
After saying that, Keke picked up her bag and went to the Mysterious Gate area to change her shoes. She originally wanted to wear a pair of high heels, but upon second thought, she felt her outfit wasn’t suitable for heels, so she took a pair of flats from the shoe cabinet instead.
Shi Mei pinched out the cigarette and stood up. He waited for her to put on her shoes before he walked over, and then they left the apartment one after the other and got into the same car.
After driving away from the apartment for a while, Shi Keke remembered to ask Shi Mei, "Are you buying a gift for Grandpa?"
Shi Mei, without glancing aside, replied coolly, "No."
Keke probably guessed he would say that, her eyebrows lifting slightly, "You really are consistent over the years."
"Hmm."
Keke didn’t say anything else, remembering how every year on this day, she seemed to ask him the same question, and each time his answer remained unchanging: No.
He was just that straightforward a person—if he said he wouldn’t buy, he definitely wouldn’t. But he valued Grandpa’s birthday more than anyone, even if a gift wasn’t sent, the cash present would surely arrive. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
This year, he would probably do the same as in past years, seal an eight-digit red envelope, and let Grandpa travel around the world.
The two were silent again for a while. When they stopped at a red light, Shi Mei finally glanced sideways at Shi Keke, "You’re going like this?"
"Yeah, there’s no other option. The gown was prepared last month; I bought only one set. I didn’t think I’d need those gowns when I came back to the country, so I didn’t bring them with me." Keke paused, then added, "Well, it doesn’t matter. I’ll just make do with this. After all, I’m not the main character. Grandpa has always said, being clean and tidy is enough, no need to be too particular."
She checked herself in the car’s rearview mirror and probably felt satisfied with her makeup, as she couldn’t help but chuckle: "Having a pretty face is enough, what I wear really isn’t important at all."
Shi Mei squinted at her and gave a light assessment of her appearance: "Average."
Had it been any other woman hearing such words, she might not be angry but would certainly feel dejected, yet Keke didn’t mind at all. She laughed and replied, "It’s because your standards are too high; that’s why you find everything ordinary."
Shi Mei neither agreed with nor denied her statement. Resting one hand on the steering wheel and propping up his resolute chin, once the red light was over, he pressed the gas pedal and the car moved out again.
About ten minutes later, Keke’s phone rang.
She took it out and glanced at the caller ID, then directly answered the call: "Hello."
"Hey, Keke." The voice from the phone: "Do you have time tonight to grab dinner and go for karaoke?"
