Chapter 270: Chapter 270: A Deep Love That Cannot Be Spoken

"Miss Grant, Miss Grant." The servant saw her staring blankly in front of the building for several seconds before calling out.

Upon hearing someone call her, Daisy Grant finally reacted, discreetly withdrawing her gaze, a hint of unease on her face, and lightly smiled, "How come it feels a bit different here?"

"Madam had the exterior renovated last year."

"Oh, let’s go inside!" Daisy glanced at Dawn Sutherland upstairs, smiling as she spoke to the servant.

"Please, Miss Grant!"

Just as they walked into the house, Mother Sutherland, Selah Sutton, came over warmly, tightly holding Daisy’s hand, and greeted her with a bright smile, "Ah, I’ve grown tired of seeing all those socialites flaunting around in front of me every day. Our Daisy is still the most beautiful, never boring to look at."

"Oh, Aunt, you’re exaggerating. Over the years, you’ve become more youthful and beautiful," Daisy smiled, speaking warmly.

"You, you sure know how to sweet-talk."

At this moment, the servant brought in the gift Daisy had brought when she got out of the car.

"By the way, Aunt, these are presents I brought from abroad for you, Uncle, and Aidan. I hope you all like them." Daisy handed the gift to her.

"Like them, of course, I do. Anything you give, I like." Selah Sutton beamed with satisfaction at her prospective daughter-in-law.

Selah Sutton pulled Daisy onto the soft leather sofa, chatting and catching up.

Selah Sutton would sometimes laugh with her hand covering her mouth and other times hug Daisy tightly. The scene was warm and lovely; anyone would think they were mother and daughter! Their time together was joyous and pleasant.

"Daisy, how are you and Aidan abroad? Aidan called me and said he won’t be back for over a month. Why didn’t you come back together? Is he very busy over there?"

Daisy’s fingers tightened a bit, her expression faintly smiling, "He’s quite busy. I was missing home, so I decided to come back early."

Selah Sutton laughed, holding Daisy’s hand, her expression kindly and approachable, "Are you both getting along well overseas? Has Aidan bullied you? Tell Aunt, and I’ll sort him out for you! You’re my favorite daughter-in-law candidate; I can’t let Aidan bully you! Tell me if anything happens, I’ll back you up!"

"Thank you, Aunt," Daisy smiled warmly, "We are doing well abroad. You don’t have to worry."

Selah Sutton wanted to say something else, but the servant approached respectfully and said, "Madam, it’s time to eat."

Selah Sutton looked tenderly at Daisy, "Let’s eat first, Daisy. We can continue chatting after dinner. I’ve been holding back all these days without you around, not even having anyone to share personal talks with. Now that you’re back, I have someone to talk to again."

Daisy smiled lightly and nodded.

As Daisy and Selah Sutton sat down, Dawn slowly came down the stairs.

Already seated, Selah Sutton and Daisy simultaneously turned their eyes toward him.

Dawn approached, wearing a white shirt with casually rolled sleeves, black dress pants neat and tidy, his entire attire casual yet elegant. Daisy silently withdrew her gaze, afraid she might become infatuated again if she continued staring.

Seeing Dawn, Selah Sutton immediately adopted a different tone, snapping harshly, "We have guests at home, and not only do you fail to come down, you make everyone wait for you to eat. Where are your manners?"

Daisy pressed her lips tightly, worriedly glancing at Dawn. Aunt Sutherland never seemed to come to terms with this illegitimate son of her second brother; her attitude had always been harsh since he was young.

"I had some urgent matters to attend to, sorry for keeping you waiting." Dawn smiled calmly, apologizing.

Seeing his demeanor, Daisy felt a tug at her heart, reached out and grasped Selah Sutton’s arm beside her, playfully saying, "It’s okay! Aunt, I’m really hungry. Let’s eat! I’ve missed the Sutherland Family’s dishes so much; I’ve been craving them abroad!"
