LOVE IN PARIS: Married To My Brother-in-law-Chapter 59: Validation
"Thanks for the ride". She said, flashing him a small, tight-lipped smile. "I’ll see you later."
She stepped out of the car, her coat left forgotten on the seat. Knox stayed and watched as she walked up the stairs toward the house. He was about to drive off when he noticed the coat and frowned.
"She might need this". He muttered to himself as he looked at the house before him.
Grabbing the coat, he quickly got out of the car and started walking toward the house with the aim of returning her coat but things were destined to turn the other way.
As he reached the front steps and then the door, he was just about to knock when the door flew open, and there came Olivia barreling down, her face wet with tears, a sob caught in her throat. She didn’t even see him in her haste and through her blurry vision, nearly running into him in her rush.
"Hey, what happened?". Knox asked, reaching out to stop her. His hands lightly gripped her shoulders, but she shook it off ans shook her head, her lips trembling as tears streaked down her cheeks.
"I . . .I can’t". She gasped, her voice breaking mid sobs. She pulled away from him, heading toward the car frantically in a near-panic.
Behind her, a blonde haired guy supposedly her boyfriend burst through the doorway, his shirt rumpled, calling after her.
"Ollie . . Please wait. We can talk this out . .". He shouted stumbling down the stairs and almost running into him as he picked chase after Olivia.
Knox’s eyes flicked from the crying Olivia to the man chasing after her, anger flashing across his face. He didn’t know fully what happened but he could still grasp a thin thought of it.
"Hey". He began as he grabbed a fistful of her boyfriend’s crumpled shirt. "If the only thing you can do well is hurting her . . . Why do you even think you still deserve her. I don’t want to see you near her, not even an inch closer else . . ." Knox bellowed in an icy tone that made even the muscular Daniel shudder. "Believe me, I have hundreds of ways to make you suffer". He added and turned to leave, leaving Daniel stunned to the spot.
He walked hurriedly to the car where Olivia was crying out her heart. He passed her a roll of Kleenex as he rubbed her back encouragingly, wiping her face dry.
Finally after a while, she stopped crying and he was beyond relief.
"What the hell happened?". He demanded quietly, but she didn’t stop long enough to answer. Her tears flowed freely now, and all she managed to say was:
"Please, just... just take me away from here!" Her voice cracked with desperation as she clutched his shirt and he nodded in response.
Without hesitation, he nodded and started the car engine which roared to life almost immediately. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
As the car rolled through the streets, he couldn’t help stealing casual glances at her. She looked almost lifeless as she leaned into the car seat with her eyes closed though she was no longer crying now, her once humorous and playful energy was now nowhere to be found and for some reason unknown to him, seeing her like this made his heart break so much that he would do anything to bring a smile on her face.
"Just shut it Knox and drive". He muttered inwardly to himself trying to place his concentration on the road.
Apart from her house and Yvette’s, he didn’t know where else to take her and he couldn’t take her to Yvette’s cause it was so late now and besides he didn’t wanna disturb the couple and she’ll also oppose going to Yvette’s place like this and he couldn’t take her to her apartment either .
He didn’t want her crying out her heart all alone over a scumbag who’s not even at the least worthy of it and besides he didn’t want her to be all alone or feel that she wasn’t enough.
And since his house was nearby, he quickly decided on that. He wasn’t gonna leave her like this in the state she was in.
He took the quiet turn that led to his street, his hands gripping the wheel tightly but she didn’t even notice the direction he’d taken. She looked like a lost puppy and he could see the pain in her eyes, her breath shaky as she tried to hold back sobs.
He knew there were some issues previously between the couple and just few weeks back she’d complained to him about her boyfriend always hanging out with his cousin who was new in town, ignoring her and all being busy but afterwards they got back later again but now it seems the story had crumbled in an instant. There was no other explanation.
When they arrived at his place, she quickly stumbled out of the car, her movements frantic and unsteady. He followed her immediately, watching as she headed inside, her breaths still coming in ragged gasps.
He opened the door and followed her into the dimly lit living room. She went straight to the small bar on the side of the room, her hands shaking as she reached for a bottle.
"Hey, stop . .wait, you don’t need that right now . . . Ollie" . Knox said, rushing over to her to stop her from further harming herself.
He grabbed her wrist just as she started to pour herself a drink.
But she pulled free, her eyes flashing with hurt and anger as she yanked his hands off her. "What else am I supposed to do, huh?". She spat, pouring the liquor with trembling hands. "He was with her... they were together. And it had been like this all this while right under my nose. He’d d said she was just his cousin and I was damned to believe him. I was such a fool!"
Knox clenched his fists in anger and shook his head, his heart heavy. "I’m sorry, I really am. But what’s done is done and this won’t help. It can’t reverse what has happened".
"What do someone with a low EQ like you know". Ignoring him, she downed the drink in one gulp, her face twisting with the bitterness.
He reached out again, trying to stop her from pouring another, but she spun around, suddenly pressing herself against him intimately.
"Why her? Is she better than me?". She cried, her hands clutching at his shirt, her breath warm and frantic against his neck. "Am I in any way inferior to her?".
Knox’s eyes widened in shock, his hands hovering uncertainly in the air between them.
"Hey, stop this. You’re just upset". He started, his voice firm but gentle as he tried to push her back, away from him.
But she clung tighter onto him like an octopus, her lips pressing against his neck.
"Why not me?". She whispered, her voice breaking as her lips trailed up to his jaw, her hands gripping him desperately. "Why, just why would he do this to me. I ..."
Her kiss was frantic, searching, desperate and for a moment, he felt himself freeze, his mind racing as her lips met his in a heated rush of emotion. He tried to pull away, but her hands were everywhere, pulling him closer.
"Wait, this isn’t right Olivia". He tried to say, his hands on her shoulders, trying to gently push her back. But the more he resisted, the more she clung to him, her tears mixing with the force of her kisses.
"Is she better than me?". She whispered again, her voice broken and raw as she pressed herself closer, her desperation filling the space between them.
""Do you also dislike me?. Is she indeed better than I am ?". Perhaps sensing his reluctance, she asked shifting away despondently.
"No, no". He replied hurried. "I don’t dislike you Ollie. You’re a good and unique woman. Daniel’s just blind and will forever regrets his decision".
Knox’s control slipped, just for a second and she grabbed him intimately, her kisses became more insistent, her body pressed tightly against his. Before he knew it, they were falling onto the couch together, her weight pulling him down.
The room spun around them, the sound of her ragged breaths filling the air. But just as his mind began to blur in the heat of the moment, a sharp pang of guilt hit him, hard.
"No..." He muttered under his breath, trying once more to break away. She was befuddled but he wasn’t, this couldn’t happen or he’ll forever blame himself.
But she was relentless, her need for validation blurring her actions as she pressed harder, her tears wetting his skin and he totally lost control of himself.
The night was beautiful and the skies brightened by the twinkling of the stars, the streets filled with the snow.
Left in the quiet room was the two figures feasting on each other passionately with no care in the world with several clothing tossed haphazardly everywhere in the room.
