LOVE IN PARIS: Married To My Brother-in-law-Chapter 50: Finish Her
The assistant hesitated, glancing at the table set with precision and care, the candles now slowly burning down to their stubs. He sighed softly, knowing there was no convincing him otherwise and deep down he knew his boss deserved all that was happening to him.
He could remember advising him at a point not to treat Yvette shabbily but he had said "everything is fair in war and love besides someone has to make the sacrifices" .
Yvette had make the sacrifices and now, he was suffering for it. As he should.
Manuel leaned back in his chair, his eyes distant but determined. He had never been patient like this with her in the past instead she was the one dealing with all patience, always waiting for him and believing he would always come but now the table had turned and now, he was willing to wait, no matter how long it took.
At this point, he didn’t care how long it took. He would wait for her again, even if it meant waiting until nightfall.
"She’ll come". He muttered to himself, his fingers tapping lightly against the table.
But deep down, for the first time, a small part of him wondered if maybe, just maybe, she wouldn’t.
The car’s engine hummed softly as it made its way through the busy evening streets.
The evening sun casted a warm , golden glow over the busy streets, stretching shadows long and soft across the ground.
Inside the black low profile car, the atmosphere was quiet but tender. As they drove toward the hospital Yvette kept stealing glances at Zeke whose eyes was focused on the road, with his brow furrowed in worry .
His hand remained protectively on her knee, rubbing soothing circles as if that alone could ease her discomfort.
"Are you alright? Do we need to stop for a while?. Do you feel dizzy and weak again?". He asked his tone soft but concerned and edged with worry.
Yvette’s cheeks flushed, the color creeping up to her ears. "I’m fine. Really."
She waved dismissively though thoroughly embarrassed by how much he fussed, but at the same time, her heart fluttered at his attentiveness, making her feel like they were newlyweds all over again but it made sense as they didn’t enjoy their time then.
But Zeke didn’t seem convinced. His eyes flicked toward her belly, where she pressed a hand over the source of the dull pain that had been growing worse throughout the morning. "Just let me know,". He said gently. "If you feel uncomfortable".
When they arrived at the hospital, Zeke hurried to open her door, practically scooping her out of the car before she could protest.
"I can walk, you know,". Yvette complained, mumbling and blushing again as he wrapped an arm around her for support.
"I know, but you don’t have to." His voice was full of warmth.
Inside, the hospital was busy with its usual flow of people. They made their way to the reception, where an older nurse with kind eyes gestured for them to come over.
"How can I help you?" she asked with a smile.
Yvette hesitated, biting her lip and looking down. She was mortified to have to explain why they were there, no matter how much she thought of it she just thought Zeke was being impossible and now she didn’t know how to explain to the nurse who gazed at her curiously.
Zeke however didn’t seem fazed in the slightest. "She’s been having severe cramps since this morning, it was mild at first but it got worse this morning ". He explained as if it were the most mundane thing in the world. "We then thought it was best to get her checked out at the hospital."
The nurse raised an eyebrow, giving him an amused look. Yvette’s face flamed with embarrassment, and even the nurse stifled a chuckle, her wrinkles deepening with her smile.
"I see". The nurse said, chuckling as she looked at Yvette, who was now trying her best to disappear into her scarf. "Such a loving husband, you’re very lucky."
Before she could respond, the nurse added, "Sir, why don’t you wait outside? We’ll take good care of her."
Zeke nodded, giving Yvette’s hand one last reassuring squeeze before stepping out into the corridor. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The nurse led Yvette into the examination room, the door closing behind them with a soft click.
As she prepared her tools, the nurse glanced at her and smiled warmly. "You know, I’ve been doing this job a long time, and I rarely see couples as sweet as you two. It’s refreshing and reminds me of my younger self."
Yvette’s cheeks turned a deeper shade of red. "He can be a bit much sometimes". She muttered, though her heart swelled with affection.
"Don’t be embarrassed, dear. You’re very lucky. I wish you both eternal happiness". The nurse teased, giving her a meaningful wink. "Though, I can tell he dotes on you a lot, and I’m sure you love it."
Yvette smiled shyly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Thank you," she said quietly.
Outside, Zeke sat in the waiting area, his phone in hand. As he glanced around the reception, his eyes landed on a familiar face.
A woman in a large hat and sunglasses was moving swiftly toward the back of the hospital, accompanied by a woman who was cladded in the similar costume as her’s.
He had only seen her for a second before she left , it was subtle, but there was no mistaking her .
It was Nadia and her manager Mary, scurrying towards the back emergency exit.
He watched as she and her manager tried to slip out quietly through the rear exit. Zeke frowned, knowing the crowd of angry fans and paparazzi that had gathered outside earlier was because of her.
They were at the front door, if she went out through there she’ll be trapped so that must be why she made a detour but how could he let her go so easily. Without any further Ado, he reached for his phone and dialed Knox’s contact, who picked up almost immediately.
"Knox, I need you to expose her location and finish her for once and for all. Nadia is at the hospital right now, trying to sneak out through the back emergency exit. Make sure the word gets out."
Moments later, a flurry of activity erupted outside. Nadia had barely made it a few steps before the mob of angry fans found her.
The once peaceful hospital environment was suddenly filled with shouts and accusations, the crowd pressing in on her. Some hurled insults, others threw random objects, their faces contorted with anger.
"Such a callous person like you don’t deserve to live".
"You bitch. You’re nothing but a green tea bitch who lives all her life on pretending. Haven’t you feel tired even once".
"Thanks goodness we know better now"
"Apologize to our Yvette"
"Villian". . .
"Please! Stop!". Nadia suddenly cried out amdist the flurry of actions , shielding her face as she tried to push through, to move away from the fan who were not only insulting her but throwing object like eggs on her and now her face was a mess, with her manager doing little to help.
Tears streamed down her cheeks and mixed with the egg moisture on her face . She looked pitiful, she stumbled, clearly overwhelmed by the hostility. She had never been I this situation and didn’t know how it felt but now that she did, she only wants to leave as soon as possible.
Just when it seemed like she was about to be swallowed by the crowd, a group of burly bouncers appeared, parting the sea of people like a force of nature.
They quickly surrounded her, their broad shoulders and sheer size enough to fend off the mob.
Nadia shaking and tear-streaked, was ushered into a sleek black car that had pulled up to the curb.
Once safely inside, she slumped back against the seat, still trembling as Mary passed her a Kleenex to wipe her face.
The car began to move, taking her away from the chaos. She wiped her eyes with shaking hands and glanced toward the driver.
"Who sent you?" she asked in a hoarse whisper, her voice barely audible over the hum of the engine.
The bouncer in the passenger seat turned slightly, his voice gruff but respectful. "Your elder sister sent us, Miss Nadia. She wanted to make sure you got out safely."
Nadia exhaled sharply, leaning her head back against the seat. Her eyes welled up again, but this time the tears weren’t from fear, they were from a deeper, more complicated emotion.
She never thought her sister would be the one to rescue her despite the trouble she’s caused each and everyone of them. Indeed, blood is thicker than water.
She closed her eyes as the car sped away, her sister’s unexpected gesture echoing in her thoughts.
Back in the hospital, Zeke remained seated, his face impassive as he scrolled through his phone, unaware of the chaos he had just set in motion outside.
His only concern was waiting for the doctor’s update on Yvette, his thoughts solely focused on his wife, even as the world around him continued to churn with its own dramas.
