Chapter 87: Chapter 87: "I Want to Go Again...

The more he spoke, the redder Rory Linden’s face became.

By the time he finished, Rory Linden was so embarrassed she had to turn away. "I don’t think so! Besides, I’m a doctor. If it’s necessary, I can take care of it myself."

Rory Linden had the day off today.

Watching him get out of bed, she scrambled to sit up, pulling the covers over her face. "You go get ready. I-I’m just going to lie here a little longer."

Sean Harrison rose, knowing she was shy.

As she heard his footsteps grow distant, Rory Linden kept the blanket over her face and asked, "Do you have to work today?"

"No, why?"

His voice was very close, as if he were standing just on the other side of the bed, having barely moved at all.

"W-Well, then, maybe later I can help you apply some medicine to your wounds... on your back and everywhere else."

Rory Linden lowered the blanket just enough to peek out with her eyes.

Sure enough, Sean Harrison hadn’t been walking toward the door.

He had only walked from the head of the bed to the foot.

Sean Harrison looked at her, hesitating for a moment before he spoke. "That’s not necessary."

"Is it because of the scars on your back? I don’t mind them."

Rory Linden easily guessed what he was thinking.

Even though she had seen the scars on his back many times, he always seemed to want to hide them.

Especially last night...

For a long time at the beginning, Sean Harrison had kept his shirt on.

It wasn’t until later, after he’d turned off the lights, that he finally took it off.

Sean Harrison’s lips curved. "They’re not a pretty sight. Best not to look."

"It’s okay. I’ll find some iodine swabs, and I’ll apply the medicine for you after breakfast." Rory Linden sat up, her mind made up.

"Alright." Sean Harrison glanced out the window. "Though at this hour, it’s more like brunch. I had a chef send some over; it should be here any minute."

After he left the room, Rory Linden sat on the bed resting for a good while before she finally got up.

She slowly made her way toward the guest bedroom.

Just as she reached the guest bedroom door, Sean Harrison was walking out carrying the bedsheets from the previous night. An especially conspicuous patch of bright red was visible on them.

Rory Linden blushed again and reached for the sheets. "A-Are you going to wash those? I can do it."

’Who is that intense on their first time!’

Still, she was almost certain it was Sean’s first time, too.

Even though she’d been drunk last night, she still clearly remembered that the first time around, he had finished in almost no time at all.

It was only on the second, and then the third time, that he began to last longer.

So long, in fact, that she eventually couldn’t tell if she’d fallen asleep or passed out from exhaustion.

Sean Harrison showed no sign of letting go. "The bed can’t be slept on. I’ll wash the sheets, then have someone contact a mattress company to deliver a new one. It probably won’t arrive today, though."

"..."

Rory Linden fell silent.

’What does he mean, it won’t arrive today?’

’Does that mean we have to sleep together again tonight?’

"Go get washed up. I’ll help you move your toiletries and skincare products to the master bathroom in a little while. Don’t worry, it has a double vanity."

Sean Harrison’s intentions had always been crystal clear.

This included the matter of the mattress—the new one wouldn’t be delivered today. Nor tomorrow. Nor the day after.

It would take at least a week, if not more.

Rory Linden figured she didn’t have a better option.

So, she agreed.

She had just finished washing up when the brunch Sean Harrison ordered arrived.

The delivery from the high-end restaurant was even handled by a dedicated courier.

After the food was delivered, the courier personally arranged each item on the dining table for them before taking his leave.

After finishing brunch and drinking two large glasses of water, Rory Linden finally felt her body start to recover.

Sean Harrison packed everything up and placed it by the door.

When he came back, he asked Rory Linden, "Any plans for the afternoon?"

"I was planning to read." Rory Linden noticed the scratch marks on his arms and changed her mind. "But before that, let me treat your wounds first, so they don’t get infected."

He didn’t refuse this time.

Rory Linden took iodine swabs and a few sterile bandages out of the first-aid kit.

「In the master bedroom.」

When Sean Harrison took off his loungewear top, Rory Linden couldn’t stop her brow from furrowing.

"Did I... was I that rough yesterday?"

She looked down at her own fingernails.

’They don’t even look that long. How are the scratches so deep?’

Especially on his back; a few of the scratches were already starting to swell.

"It’s probably my fault. I didn’t control the intensity well enough."

Sean Harrison took all the blame on himself.

He had tried his best to hold back last night. In order not to frighten her, he’d reined himself in, making sure not every move was so forceful.

Even so, it seemed he had still pushed past her limits.

It truly was his fault.

He had no complaints about being scratched or bitten.

His words caused the scenes from last night to flash through Rory Linden’s mind again.

So steamy that...

It was almost too much to bear.

Rory Linden kept her gaze lowered, dabbing the iodine onto his wounds one by one to disinfect them.

She had left seven or eight scratches on his back.

On an ordinary person’s back, these marks might have looked brutal. But on Sean Harrison’s, compared to the old, gruesome scars already there, her scratches were practically negligible.

After Rory Linden finished disinfecting the wounds on Sean Harrison’s back...

She raised her hand and gently caressed one of the deepest scars.

Sean Harrison didn’t move. He just said, "Ugly, isn’t it? Don’t look."

"This scar..." Rory Linden couldn’t help but ask. "Is it a burn?"

"Yes."

Sean Harrison admitted.

Rory Linden didn’t dare ask anything more.

Although she was a surgeon with knowledge of all kinds of injuries, she could tell the deepest scars on his back were all burns.

The kind caused by something like a burning structure collapsing on him.

"There, all disinfected."

Rory Linden watched him put his shirt back on. She turned to get off the bed to throw away the cotton swabs, but he caught her hand before she could move.

Sean Harrison pulled her into his lap. His long, slender fingers brushed her hair aside as he asked, "And you? Where did you say it hurt yesterday?"

The distance between them closed in an instant.

It wasn’t as if they’d never been this close before.

But this was broad daylight, with the sun streaming in.

His face, nearly perfect from every angle, was just inches from her own.

Maybe it was because of the warm light.

Those long, narrow eyes with their inky pupils, which she had so often found cold and distant in the past...

...were now filled with the light of a summer sun, revealing a deep and lingering tenderness.

But his question made Rory Linden blush.

She tried to pull away, but his arm was wrapped tightly around her, leaving her no escape.

"It’s just my back and legs that are sore!" Thinking he wanted to apply medicine for her, Rory Linden explained with the utmost seriousness, "The place you’re thinking of doesn’t hurt!"

"Is that so?" Sean Harrison leaned in, his lips brushing against the shell of her ear. "Because I was thinking we could go another round..."
