Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 69: "A Little Fun Between a Couple.
Evelyn Irving had once shown her a photo of Nadia Willow. Rory had also spent ages scrolling through media photos of Nadia online.
But the woman in the photos had only borne a slight resemblance to her.
Now, seeing Nadia Willow in person, Rory Linden realized just how strikingly similar they truly were.
The woman wore a beautiful, expensive dress, her chestnut curls cascading down, one side tucked behind her ear to reveal a perfect jawline.
She looked utterly exquisite and beautiful.
When Nadia Willow looked up, she first glanced at the person who had greeted her, then her gaze shifted to Rory Linden, and finally to Sean Harrison beside her.
After seeing the two of them, Nadia gestured to the middle-aged man before walking over.
"President Harrison, long time no see." Nadia Willow’s gaze shifted back to Rory Linden. "You must be Miss Linden. I’ve heard President Harrison mention you often. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you."
The woman slightly raised her right hand, intending to shake Rory Linden’s.
The beautiful Black Opal ring on her finger was particularly eye-catching.
Seeing it, Rory Linden couldn’t help but think of Sean Harrison’s pair of Black Opal cufflinks.
’The design seems... a bit similar to this ring.’
Just as Rory Linden was about to shake Nadia’s hand, Sean Harrison intercepted, grabbing her outstretched hand and saying, "We have something to attend to. We’re leaving."
Before Rory Linden could react, he wrapped his other arm around her shoulder and steered her deeper into the restaurant.
The entire Eastwind Pavilion had an antique, traditional decor. Lanterns hung on both sides of the corridor, and the lighting was dimmer than in a typical restaurant.
Rory Linden recalled the tone Sean Harrison had used when speaking with Nadia Willow. It seemed... unusually distant.
In their brief interactions, Sean Harrison’s attitude had almost always been mild and calm. While his tone couldn’t be called gentle, it was never aggressive.
Except for just now...
Rory Linden looked up at the man beside her and saw his grim expression. He clearly wasn’t in a good mood.
A waiter led them into a private room.
When they entered, two men were already seated inside.
"Let me introduce you. This is my friend, Henry Lancaster, and this is my lawyer, Noah Sterling."
Sean Harrison introduced the two men first.
Rory Linden’s gaze subconsciously fell on Henry Lancaster.
Sherry Walsh had mentioned this man many times.
He was supposedly a notorious playboy.
"Well, hello there." Henry Lancaster had already stood up and walked over to Rory Linden, politely introducing himself. "I’m Henry Lancaster. You can just call me Young Lancaster."
"I..." Rory Linden didn’t know how to explain, so she just said, "Mr. Lancaster."
"No need to be so formal. I roll with Mr. Harrison. You’re his girlfriend, so what you say goes, just like him. If you ever need anything, just give me a call."
Henry Lancaster pulled a business card from his pocket and handed it to Rory Linden.
Halfway there, Sean Harrison intercepted it. "She won’t be needing your help."
"Right, right, right." Henry Lancaster nodded quickly.
Noah Sterling had also stood up and walked over. He waited for Henry Lancaster to finish his little performance before saying, "Hello, Miss Linden. I’m Noah Sterling, an attorney. President Harrison has told me about the Gary Sinclair matter. We met with him this morning."
"You met with him?!"
Rory Linden’s face was filled with astonishment.
She thought Gary Sinclair had gone into hiding again, but to her surprise, Noah Sterling had already managed to see him.
Noah Sterling wasn’t sure of the situation, so he could only look toward Sean Harrison.
Sean Harrison first gestured for everyone to sit down before explaining, "Gary Sinclair has caused a scene at my company’s entrance a few times. I ignored it before, but today I specifically called Noah over. Then I had security bring Gary Sinclair up to negotiate with me."
Rory Linden had no idea that, behind her back, Gary Sinclair had already caused Sean Harrison so much trouble!
’He actually went to his company to make a scene!’
"I’m so sorry. This is all my fault for causing you so much trouble." Rory Linden apologized first, then asked, "So... what was the result of your talk?"
"We learned he has gambling debts, so we paid a portion of it," Noah Sterling said.
"You gave him money?!" Rory Linden was so anxious she nearly shot to her feet. "Gary Sinclair is a bottomless pit! No matter how much you give him, he’ll never be satisfied. Give him money once, and he’ll be back for more."
"Calm down," Noah Sterling said. "If we didn’t give him money, Gary Sinclair would, at best, be guilty of an attempted crime. He’d receive a lighter or reduced sentence. He could have gotten over ten years, but without the money changing hands, it would only be three to ten."
Rory Linden turned to Sean Harrison again. "Then... how much did you give him?"
In her eyes, Gary Sinclair’s problems were still her own.
No matter how much money Sean Harrison had given, she was determined to pay him back.
"A little over five hundred thousand. The principal on his debt was just over five hundred thousand, and anything over three hundred thousand is a minimum ten-year sentence," Noah Sterling replied. "He won’t actually get his hands on that money; it’ll be taken away from him almost immediately. He’ll be back for more soon, and that’s when we’ll call the police and have him arrested."
’Over five hundred thousand... That’s... okay. I could save that much in three years if I scrimp and save.’
Just as Rory Linden was thinking this, Henry Lancaster, who was sitting nearby, spoke up. "Judging by that look on your face... you’re not actually calculating how many years you’d have to work to pay Mr. Harrison back, are you?"
"I..."
Rory Linden didn’t admit it.
But her expression had already given her away.
Henry Lancaster raised his hand and started counting on his fingers. "One, two, three, four, five... ten."
Before Rory Linden could figure out what he was counting,
Henry Lancaster continued, "There. In the time it took me to count, Mr. Harrison already earned that money back. You don’t have to repay him."
Rory Linden looked at Sean Harrison in disbelief.
Sean Harrison reached over and gently patted her forearm. "I told you I would take care of this for you. You don’t need to worry about it."
His words were an indirect confirmation.
Rory Linden had always known that entrepreneurs like him made money quickly, but now she had a concrete example.
Even if Henry Lancaster was exaggerating, it still showed that an amount of money that was enormous to her was something Sean Harrison could earn in the blink of an eye.
It made the gap between them tangible, highlighting the vast disparity in their worlds.
Rory Linden couldn’t possibly bring up the topic of repayment here, so she just remained silent.
Sean Harrison picked up the menu from the table and opened it in front of Rory Linden. "See what you’d like to eat."
"You guys can order. I’ll eat anything."
Rory Linden glanced at the prices on the menu and truly didn’t feel like ordering anything.
A single vegetable dish was 88 yuan.
For the others at the table, this price was probably normal.
For her, it was truly difficult to convince herself to pick a single dish.
Sean Harrison went ahead and ordered a few spicy dishes for her anyway.
Before the meal, Noah Sterling asked Rory Linden some questions about her and Gary Sinclair. Once the dishes started arriving, the topic was dropped.
When the food came, Henry Lancaster started trying to get everyone to drink.
Before Rory Linden could say anything, Sean Harrison spoke up first. "I’m sick. The doctor said I can’t drink while I’m on medication."
"Oh, come on! Just say your girlfriend told you not to, why bring the doctor into it?" Henry Lancaster grumbled. "Stop with the subtle PDA, I’m trying to eat here."
Noah Sterling laughed. "It’s just a little lovers’ quirk. President Harrison may be a bit older, but it’s his first time in a relationship, after all. It’s normal for him to be a little innocent about it."
The two of them went back and forth, one after the other.
Rory Linden had absolutely no idea how to respond.
Henry Lancaster looked completely shocked. "Bro, you’ve never been in a relationship before?!"
