Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 51: "He Came Specifically to See You.
A wave of guilt and conflict washed over Rory Linden. ๐ฏ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐๐ค๐๐๐ก.๐๐๐ถ
โEven if his original intention really was because of Nadia Willow, his motive right now is just kindness...โ
She stood there for a long time.
The line was quiet.
Just as she assumed the call had been disconnected and was about to dial back to explain...
She realized the call was still connected!
"Mr. Harrison," Rory Linden said quickly. "Sorry, I thought the call had dropped."
"I thought we should at least say goodbye before hanging up." Sean Harrisonโs voice held a hint of a smile. "Alright, see you in Marinia."
"...Okay, see you in Marinia." Rory Linden paused for half a second before adding, "And I wish you a safe trip as well."
This time, the call disconnected.
Rory Linden went home to pack.
It was only a two-day business trip, so she didnโt need to pack much. Her 20-inch suitcase was only half full.
Only then did she go to the walk-in closet to get a shirt and tie for the man.
The jewelry from yesterdayโs engagement banquet, along with the thirty-million-dollar antique watch, had already been safely placed in the anti-theft jewelry display in the center of the closet.
Next to it were the manโs own exquisite and luxurious wristwatches.
Rory Linden pretended not to see anything. She found a shirt and a dark, patterned tie in the wardrobe, carefully packed them in a bag, and placed it in her suitcase before taking a car to the airport.
When she arrived at the airport, just as she stepped into the main hall, Rory Linden spotted a familiar figure...
It was Miles Harrison.
"Rory, what are you doing here?"
The man had also spotted Rory Linden and strode over.
"Young Master Harrison, Iโm on a business trip." Rory Linden glanced at the time on her phone. "Iโm in a hurry to find my director, so I canโt talk right now. By the way, congratulations on your upcoming marriage."
โShe no longer wanted any involvement with Miles Harrison or anyone else in his family.โ
Seeing Rory Linden walk away, Miles Harrison hurried after her. "Rory, are you really with my uncle?"
Rory Linden pretended not to hear him and kept walking.
"Rory, Iโm not against you being with my uncle, but he doesnโt truly love you. Heโs in love with someone else, he..."
"Heโs in love with Miss Willow."
Rory Linden, at the end of her patience, finally stopped.
She turned to face Miles Harrison, who was trailing behind her, and asked, "So what?"
"I know you hate me and want revenge. I also know I was wrong, and nothing I say will make you forgive me. But I have to tell you, my uncle will only ever have room in his heart for one woman in his entire lifeโNadia Willow. Thereโs no space for anyone else."
Seeing Rory Linden walk faster and faster, Miles Harrison reached out and grabbed her arm.
"What are you doing?!" Rory Linden forcefully shook her arm, flinging his hand off. "Auntie Irving already told me what youโre saying. Do you need to repeat it?"
"Rory... weโve known each other for twenty years. Weโre at least friends, right? Even if we didnโt end up together, I still want you to be happy, but you wonโt be happy with my uncle."
"What does that have to do with you?"
Just as Rory Linden finished speaking, she saw Lucy Shaw walking over in the distance, pulling a suitcase.
The woman wore a beautiful, long Bohemian-style dress, her exquisite metal-framed sunglasses pushed up to hold back her gorgeous curly hair.
When she saw Miles Harrison talking to Rory Linden, her pace visibly quickened.
"Young Master Harrison, people of my class are different from you. Iโm still at the bottom of Maslowโs hierarchy of needs; I canโt pursue such lofty things." Rory Linden glanced at Lucy Shaw again. "Your fiancรฉe is here. Have a nice vacation."
Rory Linden hurried to the check-in area, looked around, and was relieved to see that Keith Hawthorne hadnโt arrived yet.
She hated being late and always left herself plenty of time when meeting others.
Keith Hawthorne arrived about half an hour later.
The two of them boarded the plane together.
ใAbout four hours later, the plane landed at Marinia Airport.ใ
After getting off the plane, Rory Linden felt a tap on her shoulder.
She turned to find that the person behind her was, surprisingly, Stella Yates.
"Did you just get off that flight?" Stella Yates linked her arm with Rory Lindenโs. "Are you also here for the smart medical forum?"
"Yeah," Rory Linden nodded. "I came with my director, but he was in first class and I was in economy, so he probably got off ahead of me."
"Wow! Weโre in the same boat! I thought a private hospital would buy you a first-class ticket too!"
"My rank is too low to qualify."
"Then letโs just work hard! In three or five years, weโll fight to get first-class seats on our business trips too!"
Stella Yates clenched her little fist.
Because the flight had taken off late, it was already two in the morning when they landed.
The arrivals hall of Marinia Airport was deserted, with hardly any other passengers around.
On her way to the baggage carousel, Rory Linden spotted someone...
A man in an ink-black suit, holding only a single bag, was standing on the path everyone had to take to get to the baggage claim.
The faces of the other travelers were etched with the exhaustion of a late-night journey, but he stood there, his dark eyes free of any fatigue, a clear smile playing in them.
"Hey, hey! Itโs your boyfriend!"
Stella Yates had also spotted Sean Harrison.
"He..."
"Your boyfriend is the best! He actually came with you on your business trip? Oh my god, youโre making me believe in love again."
Stella Yates chattered on with her own opinions.
Seeing the man walk over, she quickly let go of Rory Lindenโs arm. "I see my director, Iโm gonna go. Talk to you later!"
Once Stella Yates had left, it was as if the mute button had been pressed on their surroundings.
Rory Linden found she didnโt even know what to say.
Whenever she tried to speak, the words of Evelyn Irving and Miles Harrison would echo repeatedly in her mind.
"My flight just landed, and I guessed yours would be around the same time, so I thought Iโd wait for a bit," Sean Harrison spoke first. The man glanced over. "Is that your director over there? You should go get your luggage. Iโll be leaving now."
"You... Youโre leaving?"
Rory Linden was stunned.
โShe had thought heโd come to find her so they could go back to the hotel together.โ
"I just wanted to make sure your flight landed safely." Sean Harrison said in a gentle tone. "Now that I have, Iโll be off. See you tomorrow."
The man turned and left.
Rory Linden stood frozen in place, her gaze following his retreating back. Only when she saw him walk completely out of the baggage claim area was she sure that he had really just left like that.
Rory Linden hurried to the baggage carousel and retrieved her suitcase.
Keith Hawthorne glanced toward the airport hall and asked, "Was that President Harrison just now? Did he come here specifically to see you?"
Rory Linden: "No... He said heโs also attending the conference tomorrow and made a special trip from another city tonight."
Seeing Rory Lindenโs earnest explanation, Keith Hawthorne shook his head with a helpless sigh. "Then you probably donโt know this, but for someone of President Harrisonโs status, he would go directly through the VIP terminal when he flies. He would never appear here in the main arrivals hall."
