Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 260: "Bianca’s Owner Is Me, Mom, and Dad.
Rory Linden quickly washed her hands and walked to the living room to check on the robotic dog.
The robotic dog, which had been responding to its name just moments ago, now stood stiffly in a corner of the living room, completely motionless.
Leo Linden tried calling out, "Bianca," but the little dog just tilted its head and didn’t move.
It seemed the robotic dog was still running, but something had gone wrong.
"Did the battery die?"
Rory Linden checked the small LCD panel on the dog’s belly. The battery indicator showed it was full.
She consulted the thick instruction manual for a long time but couldn’t figure out the cause of the problem.
After much hesitation, Rory Linden finally took out her phone. She first sent a WeChat message to Sean Harrison, asking if he was free.
Less than a minute later, his call came through.
"What’s wrong?" Sean Harrison’s voice came through the phone. "Are you celebrating Leo’s birthday?"
He remembered today was Leo Linden’s birthday.
"Yes, he said he wanted to eat at home today." Rory Linden explained first before continuing, "That little dog you gave him... we turned it on, and it was fine at first, but now it’s suddenly stopped moving. We don’t know why."
"What happened?" 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Sean Harrison asked.
Rory Linden briefly explained the situation.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before he said, "There are many things that could cause that. If it’s okay, I can come over and take a look for him."
"..."
"If it’s not convenient, we can start a video call, and I’ll help remotely."
When Rory didn’t respond right away, Sean Harrison immediately offered himself an out.
He wouldn’t pressure her.
Rory Linden gripped her phone tightly. Beside her, her son was hugging the robotic dog, his face etched with worry.
"Why don’t you... come over? We can have dinner together and celebrate Leo’s birthday."
’Some things really must be destined,’ Rory Linden thought.
When she said this, Leo Linden’s eyes lit up beside her.
After the call ended, Leo Linden hugged the robotic dog and asked in a small voice, "Is Daddy coming over to fix Bianca for me?"
"Yes, and he’ll celebrate your birthday with you." Rory Linden stroked Leo’s head. "Why don’t you go play with your Legos for a bit? We’ll let Daddy handle Bianca in a little while."
"Okay!"
Leo Linden’s tone became much lighter.
About half an hour later, the doorbell rang.
Rory Linden had given Auntie Wagner the afternoon off, so it was just her and Leo Linden at home.
Leo Linden went to open the door himself.
Standing at the door was Sean Harrison.
He was wearing a light gray shirt and dark gray trousers. He wasn’t wearing a tie, but it was clear he had come straight from the office.
When Leo Linden saw Sean Harrison, he blinked but didn’t say anything at first.
He knew the man standing before him was his father.
But with his father actually standing right there, he was too nervous to speak.
"Leo, happy birthday."
Sean Harrison crouched down to be at eye level with Leo. "Sorry, I came in a hurry, so I didn’t bring you another gift."
He smiled gently, his tone warm.
Leo Linden could feel his father’s kindness toward him. He bit his lip, wringing his hands, unable to say a word for a long time.
Before...
He had been able to call him "Daddy" so easily.
"What’s the matter?" Sean Harrison stroked his son’s head. "Is the little dog having problems? Mommy asked me to come help you save it."
Leo Linden nodded.
He stepped aside to clear the entryway.
Rory Linden was in the kitchen cooking and didn’t know he had arrived yet.
Sean Harrison stood up and entered the apartment, but he didn’t walk further in right away. Instead, he asked, "Could you help me ask Mommy if there are any slippers I can wear?"
Leo Linden nodded.
The little boy scampered over to the kitchen door on his short legs and pulled the sliding door open just a crack.
Rory Linden turned around.
She heard her son say, "Mommy, Daddy doesn’t have any slippers."
"He’s here?"
Rory Linden was a little surprised; she hadn’t expected him to arrive so quickly.
She quickly came out of the kitchen, bent down, and took a pair of guest slippers from the shoe cabinet.
"Thank you."
Hearing the sound of the range hood from the kitchen, Sean Harrison asked, "Do you need a hand with the cooking?"
"...No, it’s fine. Could you help Leo fix the little dog? He really loves this gift."
Rory Linden understood why Leo Linden liked the robotic dog so much.
There were many reasons.
It was the first gift Sean Harrison had ever given him, and pets offer companionship.
She was busy with work and had too little time to spend with Leo Linden.
Her work schedule was irregular, making it impossible to get a real pet for now.
If this robotic dog could provide even a little companionship, it would make Leo Linden happier.
Rory Linden returned to the kitchen to cook.
By the time she brought out the first dish...
"Mommy, Mommy, Bianca is amazing!"
Leo Linden jumped up and down happily.
"Oh, really? Let me see."
Rory Linden bent down to look.
Leo Linden called out "Bianca," and the robotic dog immediately scampered over on its little legs.
Leo Linden called out "Sit," and the robotic dog bent its two hind legs and actually sat down.
Then, Leo Linden gave more commands like "Shake," "Jump," and "Spin," and the robotic dog completed them all.
Rory Linden’s jaw nearly dropped in surprise. "This dog can be so obedient?"
"Mmm-hmm," Sean Harrison said, standing to the side. "And it only listens to its owner’s commands."
Rory Linden asked, "So it only listens to Leo’s commands?"
Sean Harrison explained, "Each dog can register up to three owners’ voices. Later on, its AI will make automatic judgments and perform more actions. But if you want to replace one of the voices, you have to factory reset the dog."
Leo Linden ran over and grabbed Rory Linden’s hand. "Bianca’s owner is me, Mommy." He then looked at Sean Harrison. "And Daddy!"
