Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 239: She Once Fantasized About Their Wedding, Too
Sherry couldn’t help her curiosity. "Your nephew? What grade is he in?"
When she heard the word "nephew," her mind automatically jumped to a little kid.
"He must be twenty-five by now, still in grad school." Just thinking about Ryan Sterling made Noah Sterling’s brow furrow. "I have no idea how they ended up being so coincidental, living in the same apartment building."
"You have a nephew that old? Well, he certainly has good taste. A girl like our Rory deserves to be loved."
Sherry and Rory had known each other for many years.
All these years, she had watched Rory start with a terrible hand and, step by step, fight her way to where she was today through sheer effort.
Back in school, she earned the top scholarship every year by placing first in her entire grade.
Most of the rich kids at their school planned to study abroad, so Sherry, wanting to get into a good university in Celestria, pestered Rory to tutor her.
She had realized back then that while Rory’s grades were excellent, she wasn’t some so-called genius.
Rory simply worked harder than anyone else.
Financially, the two of them were worlds apart.
As her friend, Sherry never expected anything in return for the gifts she gave Rory, but Rory would always give a very thoughtful gift back, doing the best she could within her means.
In college, Sherry was too busy having fun and failed Advanced Calculus. Rory stayed up all night analyzing her friend’s old exams, as well as tests from previous years, to help her predict the questions and successfully pass the makeup exam.
Rory was such a sincere, hardworking person.
Yet now, she’d become a single mother because of Sean Harrison, and Sherry felt she deserved so much better.
"Yeah. A few days ago, my sister wanted to set him up with someone, but the kid flat-out said he already likes someone. When my sister pressed him, he actually told her to ask me."
Noah let out a long sigh. "It’s not that I’m worried for other reasons. I just know for a fact that Rory could never like him."
"Is your nephew handsome?" This was what Sherry was most curious about. "Got a photo? Let me see. I’ll vet him for Rory."
Noah could tell Sherry wasn’t getting his point, but he still pulled up a photo of Ryan from his sister’s social media feed.
The photo had clearly been taken under duress from his sister. The kid had his arms crossed over his chest and his face turned to the side, looking thoroughly annoyed.
Sherry leaned in for a closer look. "Hey, he’s pretty handsome! Better than Sean Harrison. Sean may be handsome and capable, but that’s all useless if he’s a bad person."
Noah watched her profile, hesitating for a long moment before he couldn’t stop himself from asking:
"Rory Linden wanted a child, but President Harrison has a genetic issue that could lead to their child having a psychological disorder. What do you think President Harrison should have done?"
"He should have just been upfront about it, obviously! What’s with the silent treatment?" Sherry pushed the phone away and shot Noah a displeased look. "You men are so good at making excuses for each other."
Noah sighed. "Are you really that down on men?"
Sherry retorted, not backing down, "Can you blame me? You try being a divorce lawyer for a day. You’ll learn all about the ’diversity of the human species.’"
The wedding hadn’t started yet, but guests were steadily trickling in.
Sherry, having gotten on a roll, started ranting about all the bizarre cases she’d encountered over the years.
She was in full swing, completely oblivious to her father, Mr. Walsh, sitting down beside her.
Watching his daughter’s impassioned speech, Mr. Walsh couldn’t help but clear his throat twice.
"Dad."
The moment she saw her father, Sherry immediately straightened up, the picture of a well-behaved daughter.
Mr. Walsh frowned, then turned to Noah. "Sherry’s just like this. You’ll get to know her personality once you’ve been together longer." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Noah smiled. "I think she’s great just the way she is."
Sherry scooted a little closer to Noah, her smile uncharacteristically demure.

「Meanwhile」 At the table where Sean Harrison and Rory Linden were seated, every face belonged to a well-known figure from the financial news channels of Veridia, and even all of Celestria.
The people at this table were old friends of Sean’s and knew his situation well. They knew he’d been single for years, and while some starlets liked to use his name to generate buzz, everyone knew he had no close female companion.
Seeing Rory with him this time, they naturally assumed she was his girlfriend.
The wedding ceremony began shortly after.
The main lights in the banquet hall dimmed, leaving only the stage illuminated.
To the strains of melodious music, the bride entered, wearing an intricate and dazzling wedding gown.
The gown’s train was a full five meters long, exquisitely beautiful with a subtle, hand-embroidered pattern of hydrangea clusters.
The bride walked slowly to Henry Lancaster’s side.
The wedding march began to play.
The couple exchanged vows before their guests, traded rings, and finally, embraced for a kiss.
At that moment, all the guests applauded the newlyweds on the stage.
Rory took it all in, the rims of her eyes turning slightly red.
’She, too, had once fantasized about their wedding.’
’She had once firmly believed that she and Sean Harrison had a future together.’
’She never imagined their relationship was so fragile it would shatter at the first blow.’
Once the ceremony concluded, the guests began to toast one another.
A well-known entrepreneur at their table was the first to raise his glass, smiling at Sean. "It’s been a while, President Harrison. We haven’t seen you bring your wife to a banquet in a long time."
This entrepreneur had also been an invited guest at Miles Harrison’s engagement party.
He had seen Rory there. What’s more, he had just confirmed Rory and Sean’s relationship while chatting with others, which was why he felt bold enough to say it.
Seeing her again today, he assumed they were husband and wife.
The few other people at the table who weren’t in the know looked stunned.
Most people had assumed Sean Harrison was single; they never imagined he was actually married!
Rory was stunned too, but she knew it wasn’t her place to offer an explanation at an event like this.
Her gaze shifted quietly to the man beside her.
The next second, the man smiled with composure. "She’s usually busy with work and isn’t fond of these kinds of events."
Sean Harrison had used that line twice before.
Rory gave up the struggle.
’They were from two different worlds. An opportunity like this probably wouldn’t happen again.’
’Today, she’d just let him say whatever he wanted.’
’It wasn’t as if anyone here truly cared about her relationship with Sean, anyway. When he got a new girlfriend or married someone else in the future, these same people would offer their blessings all the same.’
The entrepreneur holding his glass proposed, "It’s a rare pleasure to see Mrs. Harrison. Allow me to toast you both."
Sean readily raised his glass. "My wife doesn’t drink much. I’ll drink for her."
He not only downed his own glass but also picked up the one in front of Rory and drank it in one go.
"HAHAHA, President Harrison is not only a great businessman, but he also dotes on his wife!"
the entrepreneur laughed.
Rory watched the man place the empty glass in front of her, then quickly picked it up and had a nearby waiter take it away.
’She had thought that would make him drink a little less.’
You always need an excuse for a toast. Seeing Rory for the first time, and noticing how attentive Sean was to her, many people naturally used her presence as a pretext to drink with him.
In less than half an hour, Sean had already downed several glasses of hard liquor.
Rory felt like she was getting drunk just by watching him.
Just as another person was about to come over and propose a toast to Sean...
Henry Lancaster, dressed in an elegant suit, walked over.
The bride, now in an exquisite, beautiful gown for the toasts, was by his side.
Henry and his bride greeted the other executives at the round table.
Finally, his gaze fell upon Sean.
"This is my sworn brother, Sean Harrison. You know of him."
After introducing Sean, Henry’s gaze fell upon Rory. "And as for this lady..."
