Chapter 133: Chapter 133: The Man Who Rushed Over Is Miles Harrison

"There’s really no point in pretending in front of you, Miss Linden. After all, you know everything."

A smile remained on Nadia Willow’s face.

Rory Linden looked at her and couldn’t help but ask, "Why? Why fake amnesia?"

Nadia Willow dropped the act completely. "Rory Linden, do you think just because Sean loves you, you can act with such impunity? That you can take this high-and-mighty tone and ask me why I faked amnesia, why I’m so set on him?"

"..."

In truth, a part of Rory did think that.

The first time she had met Nadia Willow was at The Eastwind Pavilion, where someone had been waiting respectfully for her to exit her car.

It was clear that Nadia Willow had some status in her industry.

That alone was quite impressive.

"If Sean were a scumbag like Miles Harrison, of course I wouldn’t be waiting for him. But he’s not."

Nadia Willow looked at her. "We grew up together. I watched him, step by step, get to where he is today. I watched him transform from someone I didn’t like into the man I adore. Having been through a marriage, I know better than anyone how precious it is to spend the rest of your life with the one you love."

"Have you asked him what he thinks?" Rory asked.

"I originally planned not to force it, but then I saw Miles Harrison the other day and realized something."

Nadia Willow watched her quietly. "Some feelings are just buried. They don’t disappear with time or with new people. Just like Miles Harrison’s feelings for you."

"Miles has no feelings for me. He’s just not used to people defying his expectations."

Rory genuinely believed Miles didn’t love her.

He had just enjoyed the sense of control he got from having her at his beck and call all these years.

"That’s only because he didn’t realize it before," Nadia said with a smile. "You should have a good talk with him. If you want to marry up, he’s your most likely prospect."

Her tone was filled with contempt.

Rory didn’t want to get any more tangled up with her. "Miss Willow, nothing we say will make a difference. I’m not like you. If Sean tells me to my face that we’re breaking up, I will leave without a moment’s hesitation."

Nadia Willow was stunned for a moment. "Are you sure?"

Rory Linden nodded. "I’m sure."

She and Sean Harrison already had some irreconcilable issues between them.

It had to do with her mother and his parents.

’I can’t possibly tell Nadia about this.’

Rory Linden took a car to the restaurant where she had reservations with Sherry Walsh and Stella Yates.

As soon as they met, she gave them the gifts she had prepared.

Sherry Walsh accepted it casually. "Oh, isn’t this that viral perfume that’s super popular right now? Thank you so much."

Stella Yates accepted her gift as well.

After the three of them had ordered, Sherry Walsh finally asked her, "So? Have you seen Sean since you got back?"

"Not yet. He’s pretty busy with work. I only told him I was coming back today, not a specific time."

During her time in the countryside, Rory’s contact with Sean had become much less frequent.

She was busy with work.

At night, when she lay in bed wanting to contact him, she would worry he was still working and give up the idea.

As time went on, their entire message history over this long period could be scrolled through in just over ten seconds.

Stella Yates, unaware of what had happened before, chimed in, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so be careful. This is usually a high-risk time for pregnancy. You have to be extra careful, or you won’t be able to fit into a beautiful wedding dress."

Sherry Walsh nodded eagerly. "We don’t get pregnant before marriage. It puts the woman at too much of a disadvantage."

"Okay, okay."

Rory Linden agreed.

While they ate, they chatted about all sorts of girl talk.

Things like being pressured to get married, blind dates, and so on.

When they were nearly finished with dinner, Stella Yates finally said, "Let me talk about Maisie’s situation now. I was afraid if I brought it up while we were eating, Lawyer Walsh would lose her appetite."

"You really underestimate me," Sherry Walsh said.

Stella Yates then began, "It’s pretty much as your exam suggested. Both Maisie and her mother have genital warts. A colleague of mine removed them with a laser. They were supposed to come back for a follow-up, but I didn’t make them. I just had my colleague prescribe some medication."

She continued, "I kept their phone number and just asked about their recovery today. They’re recovering well, and there hasn’t been a recurrence. As long as they maintain good hygiene from now on, it’s unlikely to come back."

Only then did a weight lift from Rory Linden’s heart.

She thanked Stella Yates over and over again.

Sherry Walsh also voiced her opinion. "To be honest, your biological father is a real piece of shit. When I met Maisie, seeing how thin she was... it was just pitiful. I can’t believe he could bring himself to do that to her."

Sherry Walsh had mentioned before that she, a criminal lawyer from her father’s firm, and a psychologist had talked with Maisie and her mother.

Both of them were very willing to testify. In the end, with the help of the police, they gave new statements and had their depositions recorded.

Next, the Veridia police would go to the village to investigate, talk to the villagers, and reopen the entire case.

"Yes... It’s all thanks to you guys. If it were just me, I’m afraid I really couldn’t have done anything."

Rory Linden was truly grateful to have these people helping her.

There was so little she could do on her own.

Sherry Walsh raised her hand and patted Rory’s shoulder. "Right, I haven’t even gotten to you yet! Why didn’t you tell me sooner that the lawyer Sean Harrison hired for the Gary Sinclair case is Noah Sterling?"

"Do you know him?" Rory asked.

"Is there any lawyer in all of Celestria who *doesn’t* know him?" Sherry leaned closer to Rory. "Could you talk to your boyfriend and ask him to let me join the case? I’d even be happy just to assist Lawyer Sterling."

"Okay."

Rory Linden agreed.

After they finished eating, the three of them didn’t linger at the restaurant, choosing instead to walk around the mall to digest.

The restaurant was on the top floor of a shopping mall.

The three of them started browsing from the top floor down.

The floor below was a mother and baby store.

Ahead of them was a couple, the husband supporting his wife, whose belly was slightly showing.

"Wow, that guy is so handsome," Sherry Walsh said, looking at the husband. "You have to find a handsome husband in the future. Otherwise, you’ll face the tragic fate of marrying an ugly guy and getting an ugly kid." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Rory Linden followed Sherry Walsh’s gaze.

She first noticed that the man was indeed quite good-looking.

When her eyes shifted to the pregnant woman beside him...

Lucy Shaw?

Rory wasn’t sure if she was seeing things correctly.

After a closer look, she confirmed it really was Lucy Shaw!

Judging by how far along she was, the baby in her belly had to be Andre Jennings’.

’She didn’t get an abortion?’

And the man standing beside her wasn’t Andre Jennings...

Rory Linden stole another glance, then inwardly told herself to forget it.

’Miles isn’t going to marry her.’

’She has a new boyfriend now.’

’With things as they are, the dust has finally settled.’

None of the three women were married, so the mother and baby section held little interest for them.

Just as the three of them were about to head to the next floor down...

A man came rushing up the ascending escalator from the other side.

He charged straight to Lucy Shaw’s side and grabbed her.

"Lucy Shaw, you dare to come back to Veridia?!"

Rory recognized in an instant that the man who had rushed over was Miles Harrison!
