Love at First Sight? Mr. Harrison Has Been Scheming All Along-Chapter 109: "The Last Chance to Choose.
Based on her years of medical training, Rory Linden could tell from the tooth’s color and overall condition that it had just been knocked out.
She had seen it with her own eyes—Ethan Dixon hadn’t hit Gary Sinclair at all.
This tooth definitely hadn’t come from Gary Sinclair.
’Could it be Sean Harrison’s?!’
Sean Harrison let out a soft "Oh," and explained, "It’s probably Miles’s."
"Miles?! Miles Harrison?!"
Rory Linden’s mind raced with wild thoughts.
’Why would Miles Harrison’s tooth be here?!’
’Is he okay now?’
A secretary came in, holding tissues and rubbing alcohol.
She carefully picked up the tooth, wiped away the bloodstain with a tissue, and finally disinfected the spot with alcohol.
While the secretary was disinfecting the area, Rory Linden’s phone rang.
It was a call from Evelyn Irving.
Rory Linden glanced down at the secretary, who was still cleaning, and said quietly to Sean Harrison, "It’s Auntie Irving."
The man tilted his chin, motioning for her to answer.
"Rory, dear, are you at work? Are you busy? Is it a good time to talk?"
As soon as the call connected, Evelyn Irving’s voice was filled with unconcealable tension, panic, and worry.
Just then, the secretary finished cleaning the area and turned to leave.
Sean Harrison sat back down at his desk and began to work, making no move to disturb Rory Linden’s call.
Rory Linden remained standing. "I’m off work. Is something the matter?"
"I know you and Sean are close. Today, Miles acted like an idiot and got into a fight with Sean—a physical one. It’s all Miles’s fault, and now Sean says he’s done with him and the company..."
Evelyn Irving’s voice choked up. "You know as well as I do, Miles isn’t particularly capable and has never had to struggle. I’m not asking for much, I just hope Sean will help him."
Rory Linden glanced at Sean Harrison, who was sitting across from her.
The man’s eyes were fixed on the screen, as if he couldn’t care less about the contents of the phone call.
"Auntie Irving, I don’t know the details of what happened between Miles and Sean Harrison. I probably can’t help you, I’m sorry."
Rory Linden didn’t feel that Miles Harrison needed help in any way.
Compared to her, Miles Harrison was already fortunate enough.
At least he had both his parents and had never once worried about having enough to eat or drink.
As far back as she could remember, she had been helping with chores, washing her own clothes, cooking rice, and adding wood to the stove to heat water.
In the winter, the water was so cold it stung her hands, and she would shiver in her thin clothes.
Sometimes, when Gary Sinclair came home drunk, she didn’t even dare to sleep, terrified that he would burst in and beat her in a sudden rage.
They were just fragmented memories.
But because they were so painful, they were etched deep into her mind.
In comparison, all Miles Harrison probably had to do was put in a little effort on his own.
It wasn’t some great tragedy.
It wasn’t her place to pity him.
Only after Sean Harrison saw Rory Linden hang up did he ask, "Were you going to ask why Miles’s tooth was on my office floor?"
"Auntie Irving just said that Miles Harrison was being an idiot and started a fight with you."
Rory Linden walked over to Sean Harrison’s side and shared her thoughts. "Actually, even if Auntie Irving hadn’t told me, I would have guessed it was Miles Harrison’s fault."
When it came to a conflict between Sean Harrison and Miles Harrison, even without knowing the cause or what transpired, Rory Linden would naturally side with Sean Harrison.
She knew Miles Harrison’s personality; he had always taken the kindness of others for granted.
It was a case of ’a small kindness earns gratitude, a large one creates an enemy’. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Sean Harrison took her hand and looked up slightly. "You trust me that much? Have you ever considered that maybe I just despise him and picked a fight on purpose?"
"So what?" Rory Linden said, her gaze lowered. "That’s just how it is when you’re living under someone else’s roof."
Rory Linden had lived with the Harrington Family for twenty years.
Twenty years of living under their roof.
She knew all too well what it felt like to be at someone else’s mercy.
Miles Harrison was no different from her.
In fact, this young master’s situation was much better than hers had been.
She had been young; if she had left the Harrington Family, she would have had no one and nothing to rely on.
Without Sean Harrison’s help, Miles Harrison would merely have to work a little harder on his own.
With a slight pull of his arm, Sean Harrison drew Rory Linden into his embrace, seating her directly on his lap.
The unfinished documents on the screen before him were still open.
Some of them were even corporate secrets.
Sean Harrison showed no sign of guarding them from Rory Linden.
"Rory Linden, about Gary Sinclair’s case... with Noah on it, he’s sure to get the maximum sentence." Sean Harrison’s arm wrapped around her waist. "What are your plans now?"
"Plans?"
Rory Linden wasn’t sure what he was asking.
She had a guess, but she wasn’t sure if she was right.
"When Gary Sinclair was harassing you, I used the situation to have you move in with me when you needed help the most. You had no choice then. Now that the matter is resolved, you have a choice to make."
Sean Harrison spoke slowly, enunciating each word.
"Choose what?"
Rory Linden had no idea what Sean Harrison was trying to say.
"You can choose to stay with me as we are, or... now that you’re done using me, you can leave."
As he spoke, his other arm wrapped around her too.
He held the woman in his arms in a firm embrace, showing no intention of ever letting her go.
Rory Linden froze, stunned that *this* was the choice he was offering her!
She raised her arms and wrapped them completely around his neck, asking, "Is Mr. Harrison trying to drive me away?"
"This is your last chance to choose." Sean Harrison’s fingers rested on the back of her head, his dark eyes filled with a deep, unreadable emotion. "If you choose to stay this time, there will be no option to leave in the future."
Rory Linden looked at the man before her and said earnestly, "Sean Harrison, for the past twenty years, I lived in the Harrington home. Most of my choices weren’t what I wanted, but were the best options I could make after weighing the pros and cons of living at the mercy of others."
Sean Harrison waited for her to continue.
"Today, I’m going to make a choice that follows my heart." Rory Linden cradled his face in her hands. "I want to be with you. As long as you still want me, and as long as I’m the only one you’re with, I’m not going anywhere."
The distance between them closed.
Her entire field of vision was filled with his dark eyes.
She heard him say, "I’ll remember this. If you ever go back on your word, I’ll..."
A kiss swallowed the rest of his words.
Rory Linden didn’t know what he had been about to say.
She only felt the tenderness and restraint in his kiss.
As if he were trying to restrain some powerful impulse within him...

Rory Linden had thought she would likely have nothing more to do with Miles Harrison.
That night, she received a call from Sherry Walsh.
The moment the call connected, Sherry Walsh’s angry rant came through. "It’s a damn good thing you broke up with Miles Harrison! He’s a complete psycho! He’s definitely the type to be a domestic abuser!"
"What happened?" Rory Linden asked, startled.
Sherry Walsh was feisty and passionate, someone who loved and hated with equal intensity, but she rarely got into conflicts.
’What’s going on?’
’Why is she suddenly cursing out Miles Harrison?!’
"I was at a bar with a friend, and he comes over with a bottle of red wine worth a fortune, trying to hit on her. I told him to go bother someone else, and he just smashed the bottle right there." Sherry Walsh raged. "You tell me, isn’t he a total psycho?"
