Chapter 62: Your Sister-in-law’s.

Jasper and Felix were both taken aback.

Even Karl blinked in confusion.

Still kneeling on the floor, he looked at Eira before turning his gaze toward his older brother.

Did he just witness the impossible?

Someone had actually dared to reject the Old Demon?

And that too so brutally?

He couldn’t help but swallow.

But when he saw the calm ease on Dylan’s face, Karl rubbed his eyes and looked again.

Was something wrong with his vision?

Or had his brother never been as terrifying as they had always believed?

Dylan, on the other hand, seemed completely unfazed.

He already knew what had upset his daughter.

Sliding one hand into the pocket of his dress pants, he spoke again.

"Are you sure you don’t want to know?"

His words were vague.

Neither Felix nor Jasper understood what he meant.

But Eira ...

She moved.

Slowly, she lifted her head and turned in Felix’s arms to look back at her father.

Her eyes were still wet with the tears she had shed earlier.

Dylan simply watched her and waited.

And just a few seconds later —

The little one wriggled in Felix’s arms, silently asking to be put down.

Felix immediately understood.

He gently set her down on the floor.

The little girl walked straight toward her father.

Then, without hesitation, she reached out and held his hand on her own.

Tilting her head up, she looked at him quietly, waiting.

Dylan lifted her into his arms with ease.

"Why did you come here?" he asked.

Little Eira was truly upset.

She didn’t want to talk to her daddy.

But she also wanted to know about her mama.

"I came to look for Mama."

Jasper and Felix both paused, their brows furrowing slightly.

They exchange a glance.

"How did you know she would be here?" Dylan asked again.

Eira hesitated for a moment.

Then she said softly, "Third Uncle told me I would find her today."

Karl immediately stiffened.

He had been thinking about how to stop her from revealing him.

But before he could come up with anything, his name had already been exposed. He slowly closed his eyes, bracing himself for what was about to happen next.

Jasper and Felix were the first to look at him. Their gazes carried a clear accusation.

Karl tried to avoid their eyes.

But he couldn’t when he felt Dylan’s gaze settle on him.

Scratching the back of his neck, he looked up and laughed awkwardly. "Haha ... I just said that for fun. I wasn’t serious at all."

When his brothers’ expressions only darkened, his smile quickly turned sheepish.

"I ... didn’t have anyone to share my plan with," he admitted weakly. "Since she was there, I ended up telling her everything. It made me feel less burdened."

Felix closed his eyes in disappointment.

And Jasper almost raised his leg to kick him straight in the chest.

However, when he noticed Eira watching them, she forced himself to stop.

Putting on a strained smile, he said coldly, "You just wait ... I’ll make sure you’ll never have anyone left to share your pain with."

Karl was about to defend himself, but right then —

A polite knock interrupted him.

A hotel staff member entered, holding a small bag in his hand.

Felix walked over first and took the bag from him.

When he turned back toward the room, Dylan said calmly, "Bring it here."

Felix nodded before walking over.

As he handed the bag to Dylan; he couldn’t help his curiosity.

"Big Brother, what’s in the bag??" he asked.

Dylan didn’t answer immediately.

He took the bag from Felix, glanced at it briefly, and then said casually, "Your sister-in-law’s clothes."

Felix froze.

Jasper looked equally stunned.

And Karl ...

Karl simply failed to process the words.

"Wait ... what?" he asked blankly. "Did Big Brother just say sister-in-law?"

Dylan didn’t stay to explain.

He simply handed the bag to Eira, who held it very carefully, before striding out of the room with her.

Behind them, the three brothers stood there in stunned confusion.

Karl was the first to move.

He tried to stand up, but after kneeling for so long, his legs had gone numb.

Just as he was about to stumble and fall, his hands grabbed Jasper’s suit jacket.

"What the hell are you doing?" Jasper snapped, feeling his clothes being tugged,

Karl pursed his lips.

"Of course, I’m trying to stand up. My legs are numb. Even if you are angry at me, can’t you give me a hand?"

"You —"

"Okay, that’s not important right now," Karl interrupted, waving almost dismissively.

"First tell me —what did Big Brother mean when he said sister-in-law? Has he finally agreed to date women? If that’s the case, we need to start looking immediately. We can’t let just anyone become our sister-in-law."

"You still dare to mention that?" Jasper eyed him dangerously.

Karl immediately stepped back, swallowing nervously.

"Why wouldn’t I dare?" he defended. "She would be my sister-in-law, too. Of course, I have a say in it. And more importantly, it concerns Eira. We need to be careful. If not for ourselves, then for her."

Felix shook his head, his gaze thoughtful.

"I don’t think Big Brother has agreed to go on dates."

Jasper nodded.

"I thought the same. His words sounded ... directed at a specific person."

"Huh?" Karl frowned in confusion. "What person? Our Big Brother has never had any woman in his life. His records are clean."

He spoke confidently at first.

But then he suddenly paused.

Realization slowly dawned on him.

He turned to look at both of his brothers, denial written all over his face.

"No ... that can’t be possible. Last night wasn’t serious. Big Brother can’t —"

He struggled to finish the sentence before shaking his head stubbornly.

"I refuse to accept that woman as our sister-in-law. Never."

Felix and Jasper both shook their heads.

"What makes you think your rejection holds any value?" Jasper said calmly.

His words pierced straight into Karl’s heart.

"I ..." Karl opened his mouth to argue, but found no proper words. He was the youngest, with no serious achievement in his name.

But —

"How could you say that?" he protested weakly. "Even though I’m the youngest. I’m also looking forward to having a sister-in-law. More than any of you. How can my opinion not matter?"

"And besides ..." he continued stubbornly, "haven’t you noticed? Big Brother treats me as his favorite. He definitely wouldn’t ignore my opinion when choosing a sister-in-law for us."

"Treat you as his favorite?"

This time, it wasn’t Jasper who reacted to his delusion.

Rather, it was Felix who stared at him in astonishment.
