Chapter 50: Wrong possibilities.

Adelyn’s gaze dropped to herself.

And the moment it did, her fingers clenched around the blanket.

She was no longer wearing the dress she had been in the night before. Instead, she was wrapped in nothing but a bathrobe.

For a second, her mind went completely blank.

Shock flashed across her face.

When had she changed?

And why does she have no memory of it?

Fragments of the previous night flickered at the edges of her mind —but none of them stayed long enough to form a clear picture.

Her brows furrowed as she took another good look at her surroundings.

The room was spacious, and the design was luxurious in a subtle yet unmistakable way. However, Adelyn didn’t remember booking any room for herself last night.

Wasn’t she attending the dinner with Director Rhodes and Producer Polson? L

... and then her allergy had broken out.

She remembered leaving the table with Amelia ... and then later finding her way to the restroom.

But after that —

Everything was vague.

She didn’t remember ending up in such a luxurious room.

Nor could she imagine any outrageous scenario where she would spend her savings to book a place like this.

Money was too precious for her to spend so lavishly. And in no right mind, she would —

Damn it!

She wasn’t at all in the right state last night. Did she really end up spending so much in her haze?

Just the thought made her jump in alarm.

She hurriedly shifted on the bed, searching for it with her phone. She needed to check and find out how much exactly she had spent.

She flipped the blanket upside down, but found nothing.

Then she moved the pillow to check.

It wasn’t there either.

Where did it go?

Her expression turned complicated as the frown between her brows deepened.

"Did I lose it last night?" she muttered under her breath.

She was still trying to process everything when she suddenly heard a soft click.

Her gaze instinctively turned toward the sound.

Only then did she notice the glass door of the attached bathroom sliding open.

Wait ...

Had she not been alone here all this while?

Her heart skipped a beat.

She desperately needed an answer —and the answer appeared in the very next second.

A tall man stepped out of the bathroom.

Drop-dead gorgeous, capable of rivalling the beauty of a Greek god.

A towel was wrapped low around his waist, almost dangerously so, while his hair was still damp from the shower.

Before Adelyn could even react, she caught sight of a droplet of water falling from the tip of his hair. It slid down his abdomen, tracing the defined ridges before disappearing beneath the knot of the towel.

She swallowed, subconsciously, unaware that the sight had already made her throat run dry.

"Does it make you drool?"

Dylan’s voice cut through her haze.

"Huh?"

She looked up, almost failing to catch his words. Her gaze paused again when it met his eyes.

Deep blue-amber ones —so mesmerizing that she found herself unable to look away.

"Shh ... your eyes are mesmerizing. Let me look at it a little longer."

The voice from her memory suddenly echoed in her mind, jolting her back to reality.

Her eyes widened slightly in horror.

Was she imagining?

Or had she really said something like that?

How could she?

Never in her life had she ever been so outrageous with her words.

Unable to stop herself, she looked up at him again.

This time, recognition flashed in her eyes.

If she remembered correctly, this was the man she had met recently —the boss of the man who offered her the ride to ZX Media the other day.

His features had been so striking that she hadn’t et forgotten him completely.

And later that evening, she had also learned that he was no other but the CEO of Warren Corp, the multinational conglomerate.

Dylan Warren.

But how did she end up with him?

Her brows furrowed as she stared at him, trying to figure out.

Dylan glanced at her casually, not looking the least bothered by her presence. Rather, he looked more relaxed.

And his cool reaction like that only made Adelyn feel more uneasy.

It was making her imagine all sorts of terrible possibilities about how they had ended up sharing the same room.

She shifted slightly on the bed when she noticed him moving toward her.

His eyes were beautiful, yet they resembled a dark abyss —cold enough to make anyone hesitate.

"You look confused," Dylan said softly, though there was no gentleness in his tone. "Do you want to ask something?"

Adelyn hesitated for a moment, but nodded.

After all, he was the only one who could explain the situation she had woken up in.

"M-Mr. Warren ... can you tell me what are you doing here?"

Dylan’s gaze deepened.

He stared at her as though holding back the urge to swallow her whole.

"What am I doing here?" he repeated, sounding almost amused.

She felt a little awkward, but nodded again.

"You have stepped out of the bathroom," she said, pointing toward the door behind him. "Did you ... mistake the wrong room by any chance?"

Even as she said it, she knew how absurd it sounded.

But nothing else made sense.

"Mistaking the wrong room?" he repeated.

Once again, she nodded.

But she froze when she saw his lips curl —not in humor, but in amusement.

Before she could question him anymore, she heard him speak,

"How exactly would mistaking the wrong room make me step out of the bathroom like this, Ms. Grace?"

Adelyn paused for a second before embarrassment quickly crept in.

That was right.

Mistaking a room wouldn’t make someone casually use its bathroom and step out half naked ... especially this early in the morning.

She looked at him again, only to see him rubbing his hair with a towel to dry it off.

"Then how exactly are you here ... like this?" she asked cautiously. "What happened between us? We didn’t ..."

"What do you think?"

Instead of answering, he raised a brow at her.

Her gaze lingered on him for another second.

She tried to think ... to recall anything that might help her remember.

But it was useless.

Her eyes drifted downward unconsciously, pausing briefly at his firm chest.

A moment passed ...

And then the next ..

Suddenly, Adelyn realized what she was doing.

She immediately forced herself to look away.

"Mr. Warren ... can you please put on your robe first?" she said quickly, almost embarrassed at her own reaction. "Seeing you like this is just making me think of all the wrong possibilities."

Possibilities that she didn’t dare imagine. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Dylan watched her silently for a long moment.

Adelyn waited.

But when he still didn’t move after several seconds, she looked up again.

Her brows furrowed in confusion.

"Mr. Warren, you —"

"I am just curious," Dylan interrupted slowly, "what wrong possibilities am I making you think of, Ms. Grace?"
