Chapter 77: The library of Babel. (2)

The demon goddess of tyranny was being riddled with a continuous barrage of attacks.

If Alioth had been there to see the combat, he would have described those books as automatic machine guns loaded with fantasies.

Without doubt that definition wouldn’t have been wrong at all.

The books didn’t stop firing attacks, so that then the pages would move quickly to launch another attack.

However, the Ashura didn’t have the patience or the desire to stay still receiving all the attacks.

"[Freeze!]" the Ashura ordered with an irate shout.

Upon doing so, the attacks that were still traveling toward her remained suspended in the air, as if time had stopped.

In turn, the books remained still, with their pages frozen in time as if it were a sculpture.

The Ashura let out a sigh of relief as she noticed the attacks had stopped falling.

She calmly stood up while cleaning her dress with her hands. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

The Ashura had realized something, her authority there was limited and weakened.

Her authority hadn’t been completely nullified either, however she could notice the Azoth expenditure was greater, and it was harder for her to increase the area of effect of her authority.

"[Burn]," the demon goddess of tyranny ordered, recovering her proud speech, as if her recent humiliation had never happened.

Upon doing so, blue flames began to appear and spread.

A bluish-green fire began to spread through the shelves, burning the books.

Unlike when she used it against the threads, her [burn] command took physical appearance.

She could decide that property.

If she wanted simply an invisible effect like when she used it with the threads, to prevent her enemy from perceiving it, she could do it, it was very simple.

However, she could also give tangibility to an order, like that case, where her order took physical form and became a law the objects were obliged to follow.

"Wow, this is taking longer than desired," the demon goddess of tyranny commented annoyed, as she saw how the blue flames danced and burned the shelf and the books on it little by little.

Too slow.

That was the problem.

The Ashura had used a generous amount of Azoth to perform that command, however it hadn’t had as much effect as she had calculated.

Apparently she had underestimated how weakened her authority was in that scenario.

However, the demon goddess of tyranny didn’t worry too much about that fact, and simply changed commands.

"[Explode]," the Ashura ordered, with an authoritative and noble tone, worthy of a queen.

Upon doing so, the shelves exploded, the fragments and splinters of these being pushed backward, away from the girl.

The wood spread on the floor, along with the books, which were still burning with that blue fire.

"Is that all you have prepared for me? I’d appreciate it if you didn’t insult my capabilities like that, you shouldn’t underestimate an Ashura," the demon goddess of tyranny affirmed with an arrogant tone.

During all this time, Anansi had been weaving more in that room, learning to manipulate it completely.

As soon as the Ashura showed herself again, Anansi didn’t respond to her.

She no longer needed to chat with her enemy, after all at first she only did it to buy time.

She needed time to spread her network and rewrite the reality of the infinite abyss of innocuous darkness.

However now, time wasn’t something she could afford to waste, after all she knew the demon goddess of tyranny was increasing her Azoth reserves at every moment.

That’s why, as soon as the Ashura let herself be seen again, the witch moved her fingers separating the multiple shelves that formed that "corridor" between which they were.

In an instant all the shelves gathered around the Ashura, spinning at great speed in the form of a semi-dome.

"Ohhh, I see you’ve gotten bored of chatting, right?" the Ashura asked with a mocking tone.

It was true, the Ashura knew it no longer suited Anansi to be wasting time.

Even so that fact annoyed her a bit, while they almost seemed to be constantly insulting each other and throwing words of contempt.

The truth is the Ashura didn’t dislike her discussions with Anansi, after all that witch was an old friend.

She could almost be considered her daughter, since she was the one who had taught "that boy" how to create a witch.

A singularity capable of defying the gods.

Though the truth is Anansi wasn’t a pure witch, one could say she was even defective.

That’s why her power had an expiration date, and the Ashura knew that.

In fact, the demon goddess of tyranny was aware the only way to defeat Anansi was to push her to her maximum and have her disappear by using too much power.

The reason for this was because she knew Anansi’s powers, and who had trained her.

Anansi was very prudent, and surely killing her manually was a practically impossible mission.

But to push her to her limit, the demon goddess of tyranny needed to gather enough Azoth.

And therefore, she should buy time and spend the minimum amount of Azoth possible.

All while having fun of course.

"[Manifest]," the Ashura ordered, while from the books hundreds of attacks were expelled.

From energy laser shots, to a dragon’s breath, the combination of attacks was very random and aggressive, almost chaotic.

It was as if attacks were simply fired at random.

However, Anansi herself wasn’t going to let herself be hit so easily.

She used [manifest], ordering an element of fantasy to come to life.

An immovable barrier, it was that simple.

All the attacks were blocked by an invisible and indestructible barrier, an extraordinary element, or rather "unreal," that had been invoked in the same reality.

That function of her authority was almost terrifying, anyone would have thought an ability like that was unfair.

However, for Anansi it was a simple game.

Quickly a book traveled through the air, crossing a gap between the shelves surrounding the demon goddess of tyranny and placing itself just above.

The Ashura didn’t notice it due to the constant barrage of attacks that were hitting her barrier.

The Ashura felt very safe between the invisible walls of that "imaginary element."

However, a golden spear was shot from that book, and when it came into contact with the barrier, the latter broke.
