Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 318: Unearthing a Treasure
After receiving the gift pack, it automatically appeared in Xu Yi’s Storage Space.
Then, Xu Yi got up and began practicing the Body Refining Technique.
Practicing the Body Refining Technique twice, Xu Yi’s movements were already quite standard, but still a bit stiff, with some way to go before achieving fluency.
Downstairs, he trained with Lu Ke for an hour and a half, then they had breakfast together.
There’s only 7 days left until the 100th day, which means Xu Yi can receive a new weekly gift pack by then.
Hopefully, there will be a bigger surprise at that time.
Riding their mounts, the two sped forward, needing to go to farther places in hopes of encountering some wild animals.
The wild animals around the camp had already disappeared.
They sprinted along the way, yet encountered no wild animals.
This situation wasn’t unique to Xu Yi and Lu Ke; most groups were encountering the same issue. The number of animals had drastically decreased, making it very difficult to hunt.
Undoubtedly, the organizers had intervened.
"Xu Yi, we’ve been going for three hours without stopping. The reindeer should probably take a rest," Lu Ke reminded, since Xu Yi only had one reindeer now, unlike before when he could alternate between two.
After all, there are still 7 days to go, better not tire out the reindeer to the point it can’t be ridden out tomorrow.
"Okay, the grass ahead is denser, let’s rest up there," Xu Yi said, slowing the reindeer’s pace.
Lu Ke nodded, patted Ju Ha’s head, and then took the lead in running out.
Once they reached the spot, Xu Yi let the reindeer freely graze on the grass.
This was a reindeer he tamed, so it was more docile and wouldn’t run away, naturally, it didn’t need to be tied up.
"Rest for half an hour, then continue forward a bit more. Just a few more points to go before a thousand," Xu Yi said, walking to the side to relieve himself.
Seeing what Xu Yi was about to do, Lu Ke took some jerky out of her satchel and fed it to Ju Ha.
Ju Ha still had 9 points, and Lu Ke planned to personally deal with Ju Ha on the final day.
As Xu Yi was about to relieve himself, he suddenly noticed a familiar plant.
"Sweet potato?"
Xu Yi immediately crouched down to take a closer look, then his face lit up with a joyful expression.
It really was a sweet potato, who would’ve thought there’d be sweet potatoes here?
Xu Yi took care of business quickly, then shouted over to Lu Ke, "Lu Ke, bring the Engineer Shovel, we’ve found something good to dig up."
Then, Xu Yi pulled up the sweet potato vine.
Sweet potato leaves and vines are great vegetables, pretty tasty when stir-fried. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Lu Ke quickly ran over with the Engineer Shovel, Ju Ha following behind her.
"What is it?" Lu Ke asked, curious.
"Sweet potatoes," Xu Yi replied with a smile, taking the Engineer Shovel.
There weren’t many, just 9 plants, but combined the vines weighed three to four catties. Being fertile land, the sweet potato vines grew quite long.
"Wow, so we can have roasted sweet potatoes for lunch?" Lu Ke’s eyes sparkled, a new kind of food!
Though potatoes are nice, having eaten them for so long, it was time for something new to switch things up.
"Yeah, probably lots, the soil here is very fertile," Xu Yi said as he started digging.
Each sweet potato was quite large, some weighing more than a pound.
One plant yielded five or six pounds, so Xu Yi gathered over fifty pounds of sweet potatoes.
Once done, Xu Yi and Lu Ke gathered some firewood together.
It was already 11 o’clock, time for lunch.
Dig a hole, put the sweet potatoes inside, cover them with mud, and make a bonfire above it.
An hour later, the bonfire burned out.
However, Xu Yi was still engaged in Spiritual Meditation.
To Lu Ke, it looked like Xu Yi was resting with his eyes closed.
After a dozen or so minutes, Lu Ke cleared away the coals and unearthed the sweet potatoes from the pit.
Once the sweet potatoes cooled a bit, Lu Ke called Xu Yi.
"Are they done?" Xu Yi opened his eyes and asked expectantly.
"Yeah, should be cooked," Lu Ke said, picking up a sweet potato and breaking it open.
The aroma wafted up, and the inside was orange and tempting.
"Here," Lu Ke didn’t eat but handed it to Xu Yi.
"You have it. I’ll grab for myself, looks good, should be sweet," Xu Yi said, picking up a sweet potato from the ground, breaking it open and taking a bite.
It was a bit hot, but the taste was beyond words.
Xu Yi felt this was possibly the best-tasting sweet potato he ever had.
If this variety were sold, it would definitely sell out.
Maybe, eaten raw it would taste great too.
Compared to potatoes, sweet potatoes have an edge since they can be eaten raw, whereas raw potatoes are hard to swallow.
"Look at Loli Ke, not saying a word, it must be super delicious, can’t even stop to talk."
"I give up, I need to head out and find a roasted sweet potato to satisfy my craving."
"I’m in. Let’s go together."
After Xu Yi and Lu Ke ate the roasted sweet potatoes on the livestream, the nationwide sales of roasted sweet potatoes soared dramatically.
Lu Ke stopped after eating two more sweet potatoes.
"Who would’ve thought sweet potatoes could be so tasty, I’m almost stuffed," Lu Ke said apologetically, standing and feeling even fuller.
"Yeah, best sweet potato I’ve ever had. This variety would definitely sell well if promoted," Xu Yi chuckled, feeling quite full too.
"Mmm," Lu Ke agreed, nodding with enthusiasm.
They moved around a bit and then put the harvested sweet potatoes into the basket on Ju Ha’s back.
That day, it could carry both Xu Yi and Lu Ke back to camp, so this amount of sweet potatoes was nothing to it.
After getting everything ready, Xu Yi and Lu Ke set off again.
Not long after, they heard a series of roars and followed the sound.
They saw a Bear Beast and a large brown bear engaged in battle.
Lu Ke and Xu Yi exchanged glances, breaking into excited smiles.
Today, they could definitely break a thousand.
However, they refrained from taking action rashly.
The Bear Beast and brown bear had just begun fighting, neither of them was injured yet.
Their attacks caused quite a commotion with each hit on the other.
Xu Yi reckoned that if he faced them barehanded, he probably wouldn’t last two minutes before they smashed all the bones in his body.
It’s the disparity in strength; who knows when he could match them.
After a hundred days, the beasts they encounter might be even more formidable than these two animals.
Even with weapons then, there may not be much advantage.
In the face of absolute strength, everything else is an illusion.
