Live Strong in the Wilderness-Chapter 219: Monthly Starter Pack
The next day, Xu Yi woke up naturally.
Turning around, Lu Ke had already gotten up and gone downstairs.
"System, check in."
"Ding, successfully checked in for 31 days, received a medium-level gift package."
Here it is, the second month’s gift package, finally here!
Xu Yi got excited and couldn’t help but rub his hands together.
"System, open the package."
"Ding, received an auditory enhancement package (medium level)"
"Ding, received spirit enhancement agent*1 (medium level)"
Can auditory sense be enhanced again?
Xu Yi grinned and couldn’t help but feel happy.
Hearing, it’s really important.
If his hearing were a bit stronger, he wouldn’t have been surrounded by a pack of wolves yesterday.
After all, if wolves don’t howl or run, their feet are padded, making their approach sound very quiet.
But Xu Yi thought, after enhancing to the medium level, such things shouldn’t happen anymore.
As for spiritual enhancement, even though Xu Yi didn’t know the specific effects, he knew that anything crafted by the system wouldn’t be trash.
To put it simply, just use it.
"System, use spirit enhancement agent."
Xu Yi had just issued the command in his mind when he felt a sting on the back of his hand.
Then, he seemed to see a flash of light.
After that, there was no other reaction.
"System, use auditory enhancement package." Xu Yi then issued another command.
Then, he felt a sting in his brain and began hearing some subtle sounds in his ears.
Moreover, he could focus his attention in a particular direction, and his hearing would extend outwards. It was a wonderful feeling, making Xu Yi feel intrigued.
He felt like he was now a hearing radar, able to scan a specific area.
In the room, Xu Yi could hear the heartbeat of Lu Ke five or six meters downstairs.
Stretching lazily, Xu Yi walked out of the room.
Lu Ke was practicing fighting techniques, extremely focused, her body covered in sweat.
"Morning." Xu Yi greeted her and then jumped off the stilt house.
For Xu Yi now, the height of about three meters was nothing; he just jumped right off.
"Morning." Lu Ke didn’t stop because Xu Yi still had to do several rounds of the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening and freshen up. In this time, she could practice fighting techniques a bit more.
She discovered that, despite the simplicity of these movements, they were highly effective.
Yesterday when dealing with wild wolves, she instinctively used them, and they worked rather well.
So, Lu Ke thought she might enhance her training in this area.
Lu Ke had already cooked a pot of wolf meat, which compared to dog meat, was more fibrous. However, after being stewed long enough, it wasn’t inferior to dog meat at all. Unfortunately, the skin was removed; otherwise, the taste would have been better.
After a hearty breakfast, Lu Ke and Xu Yi collected all the cured wolf meat. Approximately a third of the meat hasn’t been cured yet.
Therefore, they cannot confront the wolf pack yet; they must wait until all the meat is cured.
Nonetheless, during the morning, Xu Yi was not idle. He sectioned off a small room under the stilt house to be used for bathing.
As for the squat toilet, Xu Yi hadn’t begun working on it yet since it takes quite a bit of time.
The terrain here is quite flat, making drainage tough to manage. He’d need to dig a deep pit, consuming a lot of time.
So for now, he just sectioned off an area to use for bathing.
Next, he dug a pit over a meter deep about five meters away from the camp to serve as a temporary toilet. Of course, such a dry toilet would have an odor, but there’s no other choice since constructing a toilet with a septic tank system would take too much time.
He dug the pit, erected a pillar next to it, and fixed some tree bark on one side; it took him half a day.
After a busy morning, the two sat down under the stilt house to have lunch.
In the future, as long as thick pillars are buried around it, it will be very safe underneath.
After collecting all the cured meat and boiling some hot water, Xu Yi left with Lu Ke.
The goal was clear: to find the wolf packs.
"Are Xu Yi and Loli Ke getting overconfident, just going out to challenge the wolf packs like this?"
"Why not? Didn’t they kill 8 yesterday and scare one off in retreat?"
"They’ve made rapid progress, perhaps they can already challenge a large pack of wolves."
"The wolf pack is quite easy for them now. If it were the same number of Raccoon Monkeys, maybe Xu Yi wouldn’t challenge them proactively."
"Isn’t he worried about encountering fierce beasts that slaughter Raccoon Monkeys and flying giant beasts?"
"What’s the use of worrying? Avoiding them isn’t possible; even if they stay at the camp every day, it won’t help."
"Who says it won’t help? They could make weapons, set traps, build sturdy walls—all of which are better than going out to die."
After walking for over two hours, Xu Yi and Lu Ke arrived at yesterday’s site.
Then, Xu Yi and Lu Ke only saw a pile of carcasses.
"Xu Yi... did some other fierce beasts come here?" Lu Ke asked with a frown as she gazed at the carcasses on the ground.
Because, apart from the remains of Raccoon Monkeys and flying giant beasts, there were several wolf carcasses.
This meant the wolf pack had also been attacked, resulting in some deaths.
"Judging by the footprints, it might be tigers. There seem to be quite a few." After searching around, Xu Yi found some feline footprints, which were relatively large.
Xu Yi felt that it probably wasn’t leopards; at the very least, it was at the tiger level.
"Tigers? That’s going to be tough to deal with, right?" Lu Ke asked worriedly. Although she could handle wild wolves, fighting them directly was another matter; she’d have to injure them with crossbow arrows first.
"Indeed quite tough. They’re way more ferocious than leopards; each weighs two to three hundred pounds and when standing up, they’re taller than us. They could easily leap onto our stilt house." Xu Yi explained, saying that if he encountered a solitary one, he had some confidence using a hunting bow and short crossbow along with a machete.
If it were two or three of them, Xu Yi would have to flee with Lu Ke.
And even then, escape might not be possible.
After all, tigers run faster than wolves.
"We truly have it rough with deadly beasts everywhere." Lu Ke complained helplessly.
Raccoon Monkeys and wolf packs could threaten their life.
Then there’s also a flying giant beast and an unknown fierce beast, and now a few tigers have been added.
Maybe there are bears and leopards too.
Tough, really tough.
"If it weren’t difficult, earning ten billion would be too easy. Just surviving for two months and then sticking it out for 500 days wouldn’t be difficult at all." Xu Yi picked up a feather from a flying giant beast, thinking it would make a good fan.
The smaller ones could be used to make arrow fletching, so he collected some.
The two didn’t linger long and soon left.
Time was about right to return to camp.
They hadn’t walked far when a large animal appeared.
However, it seemed to be fleeing.
