Daniel rambled on: "What if I were weak and couldn’t protect you?"

"Next time, can we strategize first?"

Sophia, unapologetic, pouted and said, "I never expected you to protect me anyway."

Daniel was left dumbfounded: "What??"

Sophia then hugged Rachel’s arm, grinning, "Rachel is a cop. Just flashing her badge would’ve been enough to scare off these thugs. There was no need for you to step in."

Rachel, playing along, pulled out her police badge and service gun.

Daniel frowned, suspiciously eyeing the two women: "Thank God Rachel is a woman, otherwise, I’d really suspect you had a thing for her, Soph."

Sophia huffed, "So, I can’t like women?"

Daniel was again flabbergasted: "What???"

In the midst of their banter, the sound of police sirens echoed from outside the bar.

John had quietly alerted the police.

The cops, after receiving a report of a dozen or so thugs causing trouble, quickly surrounded the bar with five or six squad cars and over twenty officers.

From outside, they amplified a warning: "Attention inside, you are surrounded. Drop your weapons. Do not resist needlessly!"

However, when they entered, they were nearly floored by what they saw.

Seventeen thugs were strewn about the floor, each clutching at their injuries and moaning in pain.

Other than that, there were just two women, one man, and a bartender casually chatting at the bar.

If Rachel hadn’t promptly identified herself and explained the situation, the police might have mistaken Daniel and his group as the culprits.

With a police officer vouching for them and having taken statements and security footage, the police let Daniel and his companions leave.

On the road, Daniel was driving.

After all that had transpired, it was already quite late.

Sophia decided to deliver the documents to her colleagues the next day and tagged along with Daniel to drop Rachel off.

Sophia, eyes gleaming, stared at Rachel, "Rachel, do you have to work tomorrow? It’s the weekend."

Rachel shook her head: "No."

Hearing that, Sophia’s eyes lit up: "Why don’t we go to Daniel’s place, and we can hang out tonight."

Daniel, who was driving, immediately pricked up his ears to listen in on the women’s conversation.

Rachel asked: "Do what?"

Sophia thought for a second: "Poker, drinking, swimming...anything goes for a party of three, especially since you’re off tomorrow and I don’t have to work since I quit."

Rachel looked at Sophia with uncertainty, seeing her sincerity and detecting no hidden motives.

After a moment of hesitation, she agreed: "Okay."

Sophia’s lips curled up in joy, unable to hide her excitement: "Dan, turn the car around, let’s head back to your place!"

Daniel feigned confusion: "Huh? Rachel, aren’t you going home?"

"All right then."

With that, he made a U-turn.

A slick handbrake turn later, they were speeding towards the West Coast community.

With both women at his place, he imagined the fantastic possibilities.

Daniel’s heart pounded with excitement, pushing the gas pedal harder.

In no time, he pulled into the driveway.

After killing the engine and getting out of the car, Daniel was about to unlock the door when a panicked scream rang out from behind him.

Turning around, he saw that Sophia and Rachel had been grabbed.

What the hell?

Again?

What kind of day was this, with one incident after another?

Who could it be this time?

Could it be the big guy from earlier who had called for reinforcements?

No, they should be at the police station by now.

Just then, a voice came from outside the front gate: "Daniel, you really live a charmed life, with your mansion and luxury car, and not one, but two beautiful ladies. You really cleaned up at the port auction with those shipping containers."

A burly man with a bulging belly walked in – it was Joseph Thompson.

Daniel was a bit surprised, yet it also made sense.

This guy’s grudge against him had never diminished.

But he couldn’t help but smirk.

Someone like this would be easy to handle.

Joseph Thompson approached, accompanied by his gang.

His eyes lit up as he glanced at Sophia and then Rachel.

"Impressive, all top-quality. You sure know how to live it up."

He continued, his voice sly, "Dan, are you surprised?"

Daniel asked calmly, "What do you want?"

Joseph Thompson, nonchalantly, replied, "I don’t want much, just that your smug face annoys me. Thought I’d teach you a lesson and maybe borrow some cash while I’m at it. You know, you cost me millions of StellarCoins at the auction."

At this point, his face was flushed with anger.

Daniel replied, "I can give you the money, however much you want. But you have to let them go first."

Upon hearing this, Joseph Thompson looked at the two women in surprise, "You’d go this far for them? Could they be your girlfriends? If so, their value just shot up. "

Daniel’s gaze turned cold, "I’d advise you not to push it too far. Or else—"

Joseph Thompson scoffed, "Or else what?"

"Daniel, don’t forget, I’m the one calling the shots here!"

His henchmen behind him were all on high alert, including the two holding Sophia and Rachel, making a total of seven.

Normally, a seven-on-one situation would be a cinch, right?

Too bad Daniel wasn’t in a normal state.

His girlfriend was in another man’s grasp and he wasn’t feeling very patient.

He kicked out without a second thought, sending Joseph Thompson flying out the iron gate.

After a moment of shock, Joseph managed to get up, pointing at Daniel and shouting: "Get him, beat the crap out of him!"

These guys were unarmed, and without weapons, they were far from threatening.

One by one, Daniel took them down with a few punches, including the two holding Sophia and Rachel.

Then, he approached Joseph Thompson.

Just as he was about to make his move, a gun was suddenly pointed at Daniel’s head.

Sophia and Rachel immediately showed concern: "Daniel!"

"Dan!"

Daniel raised his hand, signaling them to stay back: "Don’t come over. I’m fine."

Joseph Thompson smirked coldly, his eyes bloodshot: "Sure you are, and I’ll have my fun with these two babes of yours, right in front of you before I finish you off."

However, Daniel, who had a gun pointed at his head, just laughed. "Dare to pull the trigger?"

Joseph Thompson retorted, "Why wouldn’t I? Do you want to see me pull it right now?!"

His anger was boiling, yet he was also confused.

Why was this jerk acting so cocky?

Was he nuts?

Even in this situation, he still had the audacity to act high and mighty, as if he was begging for a beating.

Daniel shrugged nonchalantly, "I think you, being a scaredy-cat, don’t have the guts to shoot. Go ahead, pull the trigger, let me see if you’re as cowardly as I think."

Hearing these words, Joseph Thompson was taken aback.

Didn’t this guy understand the consequences of a gunshot?

Or was he just an insane daredevil?

While Joseph Thompson was bewildered, Daniel made his move.

Quick as lightning, he grabbed the hand holding the gun, his finger blocking the trigger.

Joseph Thompson was startled by the sudden action and instinctively tried to shoot.

But no matter how hard he pressed, the trigger wouldn’t budge.

Daniel smirked, laughing: "I knew you wouldn’t shoot, you coward!"

After that, he snatched the gun from Joseph Thompson, punched him in the forehead, knocking him unconscious.

He threw the bunch out of the yard and locked the front gate.

Then, with the still rattled Sophia and Rachel, he entered the house.

As they walked in, the living room light automatically turned on.

The voice of the smart home assistant rang out, "Welcome home, Master!"

Daniel responded, "Call the police. Let them pick up the bodies at the door."

Of course, he was only exaggerating.

Joseph Thompson and his gang were only knocked unconscious.

The smart home assistant replied, "Intentional murder could lead to the death penalty. For the sake of your future freedom, I’m devising an escape route for you..."

Daniel blinked in surprise, then broke into laughter, "Hold on a second!"

He had to admit, this smart home system was definitely living up to its name.

He turned to Sophia and Rachel, "Soph, take Rachel to the guest room. You both have had quite a shock. Rest for a bit."

Sophia, having been held hostage just moments before, was understandably terrified.

Rachel, being a police officer, had better psychological resilience and recovered quickly.

Still, she followed Sophia’s lead to freshen up in the guest room, Sophia joining her.

The thought of two perfect, naked bodies washing under the shower caused the corner of Daniel’s mouth to curl into an uncontrollable grin.

The image was too beautiful for him to even imagine.

Back in his room, Daniel examined the gun in his hand. At a glance, he recognized it as a Glock, a world-renowned firearm, commonly seen around in his country, so it wasn’t surprising that Joseph Thompson owned one.

Suddenly, a system message sounded.
