Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 94: Challenging His Bottom Line
Faced with Hugh York’s question, Stella Grant just smiled without speaking.
Hugh York smiled enigmatically, "Inconvenient to say?"
Stella Grant looked sincere, "President York, please don’t make it difficult for me. I just got here, and I really don’t know anything."
Even as Stella said she was unaware, two images flashed through her mind. The first was Faith Ford’s warning when she was on a business trip, and the second was the phone call she eavesdropped on between Silas and his grandfather the night before.
On the phone, Mr. Sutton questioned Silas: I’ll just ask you one thing today—are you going to marry Charlotte Shelby or not!!
It seems this is a compromise?
Going to marry?
In the crowd, people were squeezing towards Silas Sutton and Charlotte Shelby.
Silas Sutton’s expression was cold and hard, his face devoid of expression. People dared not approach him directly, so they turned to flatter Charlotte standing beside him.
"Charlotte, your dress today is beautiful, custom-made, right?"
"Charlotte, I saw this necklace at an auction before, two million, right? Mr. Shelby really dotes on you."
"Charlotte, what skincare are you using lately? Your skin looks great."
"Charlotte’s skin has always been good; what skincare does she even need?"
The people surrounding Charlotte were chattering away.
Although Charlotte seemed to be smiling, her mind was entirely focused on Silas Sutton.
Silas Sutton was forcefully brought here by Mr. Sutton today. Charlotte wasn’t exactly thrilled, but his presence was better than absence.
After basking in the crowd’s attention for a while, Charlotte noticed Silas running out of patience and smiled unnaturally, "You guys continue, I’ll go take a break with Fourth Brother."
Someone joked in a timely manner, "You’re about to get married, and you still call him Fourth Brother."
Charlotte’s cheeks turned red as she glanced at Silas and pressed her lips together, "Don’t talk nonsense."
The people who were praising her were well aware of the truth but continued to flatter her intentionally, "What’s nonsense? Your marriage is well known in the circle, nothing to hide." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Charlotte was delighted by the praise, growing more bashful as she leaned closer to Silas’s arm.
A few minutes later, Charlotte and Silas appeared in the rest area of the birthday banquet.
Silas sat on the sofa with a stern face, smoking, while Charlotte, her eyes reddened, questioned him, "What’s wrong with marrying me?"
Silas glanced at her, flicked the ashes from his cigarette, and replied, "I don’t want to string you along, nor do I want to use you."
Charlotte said, "What if I’m willing to be used by you?"
Silas teased, "Are you crazy?"
When Silas was ruthless, he was truly ruthless; when bad, truly bad.
Charlotte knew perfectly well that he wasn’t a good person, yet she stubbornly refused to give up, "I’m not crazy. Our marriage was arranged by the Shelby and Sutton families a long time ago. Everyone in the circle knows we’re getting married. If you back out, how will I continue in this circle?"
As Charlotte spoke, her eyes turned even redder, as if tears were about to fall.
Silas looked at her for about three or four seconds, extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray in front of him, and smirked, "Charlotte, do you really think those people outside don’t know that I don’t like you?"
Charlotte was hit where it hurt, her face instantly flushed.
Silas scoffed lightly, "One can self-soothe, but one can’t deceive oneself and others."
Looking at Silas’s mocking face, Charlotte pressed her lips into a straight line.
Suddenly, she understood why she liked Silas. Besides his unbeatable hardware and software, it was because despite being bad and mean, he was unapologetically so.
As he himself said, he would never string you along or use you.
The Venerable Angler with willing fish.
Silas was that angler, and there were plenty of willing fish in the circle.
As Silas finished speaking, Charlotte clenched her hands at her sides and said, "Did you sleep with a woman recently?"
Silas squinted his elongated eyes and smiled playfully, "Which one do you mean?"
Charlotte’s face turned red with anger, "How many have you slept with recently?"
Silas replied lazily, "Many, some celebrities, some models, and some subordinates with hidden rules."
Charlotte bit her lip, almost driven to tears by him.
Seeing this, Silas said leisurely, "Charlotte, we’re not suitable for each other, and the Shelby and Sutton families won’t always be on good terms. By then, you’ll be a discarded pawn. You know better than I do what happens to a discarded pawn in a political marriage."
Charlotte, "..."
After saying what he needed to say, Silas stood up and was about to leave.
Watching him go, Charlotte blurted out as she looked at his back, "Is that woman Stella Grant? You not only found a kidney donor for her mother but also transferred her to work under your direct supervision..."
