Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 79: Silly Siblings
Really?
Forrest didn’t dare to answer.
Feeling the atmosphere in the car drop sharply to freezing, Forrest reluctantly withdrew his gaze and turned the steering wheel.
Forrest made a U-turn, just as Ray’s car passed by.
He glanced instinctively into the opposite car and saw the two inside chatting and laughing, handsome and beautiful, inexplicably suited for each other.
After seeing them, Forrest sighed softly and looked again at the rear-view mirror at Silas.
It was all good until this glance...
He suddenly met Silas’s sharp eyes again.
Forrest drew a cold breath, his hand tightening reflexively on the steering wheel.
He was truly doomed!! 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
On the other side, Ray was clueless about what had happened and kindly offered to be a driver, knowing Stella hadn’t driven.
"You’re having dinner with Sue tonight?"
Stella saw Forrest’s car pass by, feeling a bit absent-minded, "Yeah."
Ray didn’t notice her unusual demeanor, continuing to ask, "What are you eating tonight?"
Stella stayed silent without responding.
Ray didn’t hear a reply, tilted his head, jokingly said, "What? Afraid I’ll crash your dinner?"
Stella, realizing, snapped back, "What?"
Ray chuckled, patting the steering wheel, "I might as well be talking to myself here, you haven’t heard a word I’ve said?"
Stella felt a bit embarrassed about being exposed, "Sorry, I was just thinking about something."
Ray asked with a smile, "Work-related?"
Stella lied, "Yeah."
Ray chuckled, "Don’t be so committed, leaders may declare ’the company is my home,’ but you can’t actually make it your home."
Hearing Ray’s words, Stella curled her lips, "Would you dare say that at the company?"
Ray raised an eyebrow lightly, "I fell into a river as a kid, but it was shallow and didn’t soak into my brain."
Stella’s smile deepened, "That’s good."
Ray, "Yes, it’s good, no water in the brain."
Stella laughed, "Is everyone in your family this witty?"
Ray turned his head, "My family? Who else?"
Stella said, "Sue."
Ray shook his head, "Sue doesn’t quite get humor. To be humorous, one must have high emotional intelligence."
If Stella and Ray were very familiar, she would definitely retort, ’Are you praising your own high emotional intelligence? Or belittling Sue’s low emotional intelligence?’
But unfortunately, they weren’t familiar, so Stella could only respond with silent agreement.
Ray seemed to catch her thoughts, speaking candidly, "In our family, I have the highest emotional intelligence, Sue has the lowest."
Stella lowered her eyes to hide her smile, admitting honestly, "I can’t really respond to that."
As they chatted leisurely, the car arrived at Stella’s complex.
Out of hospitality, Stella invited Ray to join for dinner.
She thought Ray would refuse, but unexpectedly he straightforwardly said yes, even carrying two boxes of gifts from the trunk upstairs.
Seeing that, Stella suddenly remembered him saying before: I go on blind dates every weekend, and the first step is gifting the other person, one more or less won’t hurt. My mom prepared a bunch for me. I’m not afraid to give them away, just afraid to keep them at home.
Apparently, he had indeed prepared a lot.
As soon as they went upstairs, they saw Sue standing in the hallway.
Sue’s eyes widened seeing them together, "You two are together?"
Stella, "No."
Ray, "Yeah."
The two nearly spoke in unison, and after, Ray clicked his tongue looking at Stella, "After all, we did pretend to be a couple, couldn’t you show a bit of chemistry?"
Stella felt embarrassed by his comment, laughed while fetching her keys, "Can’t help it, I’m not good at lying."
Saying that, Stella unlocked the door, letting Sue and Ray enter first.
The siblings glanced at each other without moving.
Stella thought they were about to show courtesy, but unexpectedly, before she could advise them not to be so polite, they suddenly hustled, scrambling to get through the door.
Sue, "Loser."
Ray, "Perpetual runner-up."
Stella, along with the door, was pushed aside by them. Once steady, she found them on the sofa, embroiled in a scuffle, pulling each other’s hair and yanking collars...
Sue panted, glaring at Ray, "Are you childish? No wonder you can’t find a girlfriend!!"
Ray didn’t let go of Sue’s hair at all, "Having no girlfriend is better than someone always being cheated on!!"
