Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 76: Hidden Assistance
Silas Sutton finished speaking, and the grandfather and grandson faced off in silence.
Silas Sutton appeared to be smiling, but the smile clearly did not reach his eyes.
Stella Grant saw this scene and weighed it in her mind: the grandfather and grandson were at odds.
Just as Stella Grant worried that the grandfather and grandson might fall out on the spot, Mr. Sutton spoke with a cold voice, leaning on his cane, "Fine, do as you said."
Silas Sutton’s thin lips curved up as he turned his gaze to Stella Grant, "Manager Grant, did you hear? Whether you get a three-million bonus or pack your things and leave, it all depends on whether you can negotiate the Shawn Bishop project this time."
When gods fight, it’s the little demons who suffer.
With Silas Sutton calling the shots, Stella Grant naturally couldn’t refute but had to respond respectfully, "Yes."
Silas Sutton chuckled lightly, "You may leave."
Stella Grant replied, "Alright, President Sutton."
Saying that, Stella Grant turned to walk out, and before stepping out, she politely nodded to Mr. Sutton.
As Stella Grant came out, the group of executives standing in the corridor all fixed their gaze on her.
Stella Grant, often on the construction site, stood out like a red dot in a sea of green and was already accustomed to such scrutiny, paying it no mind.
Stella was walking forward when one of the executives called her softly, "Manager Grant."
Stella Grant didn’t recognize the person, but upon hearing, she stopped and nodded, glancing at the other’s badge, Deputy General Manager of Procurement Department, Finn Kayes.
"Mr. Kayes."
Finn Kayes offered a friendly smile, quietly probing her about the situation inside, "Why is Mr. Sutton here this time?"
Confronted with Finn Kayes’ inquiry, Stella Grant didn’t answer immediately but instead glanced at Forrest Keller standing aside.
Forrest Keller subtly nodded at her.
Stella Grant understood, responded with a smile, "For the Shawn Bishop project."
Finn Kayes was surprised, "President Sutton wants to do that project?"
Stella Grant half-truthfully said, "It seems both Mr. Sutton and President Sutton have this intention."
Finn Kayes seemed doubtful, "Really?"
Stella Grant smiled slightly, a genuine smile, "Yes."
Finn Kayes muttered softly, "It’s rare for these two to have a unified opinion."
After speaking, Finn Kayes realized he spoke out of turn and quickly fake laughed to change the subject for damage control, "Manager Grant, just arrived, after you settle in, I’ll host you for a welcoming dinner."
Social exchanges, tit for tat.
Waiting for you to settle in, the words were pretty, with a double layer of meaning.
The first layer, if you settle in, a welcoming dinner, gaining an ally, procurement department and project department, more friends, more paths; the second layer, if you don’t settle in, haven’t emerged, but emerged out of the game, then it’s just pleasantries, the welcoming dinner spared, in the end you owe him a favor.
Stella Grant saw through but did not expose it, "Then I’ll thank Mr. Kayes in advance."
Finn Kayes smiled, "You’re welcome."
After finishing speaking with Finn Kayes, Stella Grant returned to the project department.
The Shawn Bishop project is a hot potato, but also a solid roasted meat.
If done well, three million, not only solving Mrs. Grant’s surgery costs but also paying off some external debts.
If not done well...
No, she will definitely do well.
Stella Grant sat in the office chair, picked up the coffee in front of her, took a sip, and began to dive into reviewing Shawn Bishop’s project materials.
The more she reviewed, the more worried Stella Grant became.
Indeed, pie won’t fall from the sky, nor is there a free lunch.
The Shawn Bishop mess is more than rotten, it’s simply rotten to the core, unless the market value can be leveraged to below thirty-five percent, this business is simply not feasible.
Meanwhile, in the CEO office, Silas Sutton leaned back with a cup of tea at his desk, calling.
"I can’t step in on this, can you help to probe Shawn Bishop’s stance?"
Ben Lawson teased over the phone, "Didn’t you say you don’t like it?"
Silas Sutton’s thin lips curled into a smile, "Who said I can’t help just because I don’t like it? How can you be so utilitarian?"
Ben Lawson, "I’m utilitarian?"
Silas Sutton remained unfazed, "You’re not utilitarian, I find you especially helpful, always saw you helping old ladies across the street, handsome and kind-hearted."
Hearing Silas Sutton’s words, Ben Lawson suddenly was confused, "When?"
How come he doesn’t remember ever doing that as a kid?
Silas Sutton said, "Not important, there’s no time like the present, tonight you should invite the executives from Shawn Bishop’s side for a meal and probe their stance."
Silas Sutton’s topic change was too fast, Ben Lawson didn’t react in time, his mouth moving faster than his brain, following his words, "Should I just help settle it?"
Silas Sutton, "No need, you just need to probe their stance, she’s capable of settling it herself."
Ben Lawson, "You’re just like two dishes carrying one fish — redundant."
