Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 118: Paving the Way for Her
Whether it is or not, Silas Sutton didn’t say.
Silas Sutton lowered his head, staring at her for a moment, then chuckled lightly, "Stella Grant, do you have so little confidence in yourself? What if it was love at first sight for me?"
Stella showed no emotional fluctuation, "President Sutton, I’m beyond the age for fairy tales and have already been knocked around by society."
Cinderella and the prince’s fairy tale.
Not just her, but anyone with a kindergarten diploma wouldn’t buy it.
Meanwhile, after hanging up with Silas Sutton, Charlotte Shelby smugly dialed into her group chat with her girlfriends.
Once connected, Charlotte feigned annoyance, "Can you guys get your info right in the future? I just asked Silas, and there’s nothing between him and that manager. He went to Portmere because Hugh is there; they have a project to discuss."
Once Charlotte finished talking, someone immediately chimed in, "I knew there couldn’t be anything between President Sutton and that woman. You guys are the ones making a fuss. President Sutton isn’t stupid; he wouldn’t ignore someone as good as our Charlotte for a woman with massive debts."
Listening to this, Charlotte felt pleased inside but showed no sign of it, "Well, you can’t say that."
The other replied, "Why not? Charlotte, you’re just too kind. Even at a time like this, you won’t let us insult the fox spirits around President Sutton."
Mentioning fox spirits, Charlotte’s heart skipped a beat.
She hadn’t met Stella but had seen her photo.
A photo without makeup; she wasn’t even wearing foundation, but her eyes were alluring, certainly having the potential of a fox spirit.
The person who followed up Charlotte’s words was there just to stir trouble, and seeing no reaction from her side, they continued exaggerating, "Charlotte, though we sometimes bring back questionable info, it’s all for your good. President Sutton is so outstanding; even if he remains pure, some shameless women still cling to him endlessly..."
When the person mentioned some women, Charlotte automatically thought of Stella and responded coldly, "She wouldn’t dare!"
The other person said, "This isn’t about daring or not. You’re the jewel of The Shelby Family, so it doesn’t affect you, but some women have nothing, and they just want to use men to turn their lives around."
The more Charlotte listened, the angrier she got, "You mean to say that project manager near Silas would actively seduce him?"
The other scoffed, hesitating, "I wouldn’t dare say that."
Charlotte gritted her teeth, "When she returns to Veridia, I’ll definitely find a chance to teach her a lesson."
At that moment, Stella Grant, who Charlotte was preparing to deal with, was burning the midnight oil revising Shawn Bishop’s acquisition plan.
She had just confronted Silas Sutton for over ten minutes, finally interrupted by a call from Hugh York.
On the phone, Hugh said he hopes the cooperation matter can be finalized tonight.
Holding the phone, Silas Sutton chuckled quietly, staying composed and not responding directly to Hugh’s remark, instead diverting with, "President York, have you sobered up?"
Hugh replied, "Yes, I’m sober. Sorry to let President Sutton see me like that tonight."
Silas said, "There’s no rush for the cooperation. I know there are many companies wanting to work with President York, so you can deliberate more."
Hearing Silas Sutton’s words, Hugh cursed silently while maintaining his composure, "There are indeed many wanting to work with Shawn Bishop, but I’ll be honest, companies as strong as Sutton Group are rare."
Initially, there were many, but for some reason, his assistant called to say that within a mere afternoon, all those companies capable of competing with Sutton Group had withdrawn their intentions to cooperate.
No need to ask, he knew whose handiwork this was.
Both were smart people.
But the smarter they were, the more they played dumb in negotiations.
After Hugh finished speaking, Silas replied calmly yet firmly, "Thank you, President York, for thinking so highly of Sutton Group."
Hearing that Silas was deliberately keeping him hanging, Hugh’s brow furrowed slightly, then he lowered his voice a bit, "President Sutton, if you want to pave the way for a beauty, you can’t block my path."
Upon hearing this, Silas looked down at Stella, who was still holding her ground, and his lips curved slightly, "Someone may not necessarily appreciate my favor."
