"It was one of the highest priorities of the Sirens. While we love sensing your emotions, there are plenty of times we want to hide ours. Do not think it’s because we want to cheat on you or something."

At their confessions, it was my turn to feel a bit sour. But I couldn’t blame them. I myself had closed my link to avoid my emotions from leaking. But while I did understand why they did it. The fact that they did stung a bit.

"Amazing, little Amari. So they really do not care about anyone else."

"I personally think it’s the one thing that makes Limitless relatable. Did you see how he treated Nomvula earlier, Brother Mide? To him, he treats demonkin and everyone else exactly the same. Race, gender, age, none of that matters to Limitless."

"Although seeing how he butchered her, you would think Limitless hates women. The world could be dying, and the Sirens and Limitless would flirt for days before they moved. And the only reason they would is if the apocalypse messes up their bed or something."

Hearing the peanut gallery, I turned behind me. And saw Olamide, Amari, and Mia. The other princes were standing over the headless leopard corpse. Said corpse was still spasming uncontrollably as it cooked under the electrified net.

A bunch of Africans were on their knees crying while others were hugging each other in tears. A few others looked at me with hatred in their eyes. Yet none came forward. Not that it mattered to me. My help to them ended with saving their princes.

"Amari, Olamide, are neither of you going to say anything about me butchering your Induna? Aren’t they supposed to be important?"

The two looked at each other before carefully voicing their opinions.

"It is unfortunate, but it cannot be helped. She was, after all, among those who threatened your home. As a prince, I can understand the desire to defend what belongs to you."

"Africa respects the rule of the strong, my lord. No one forced her to challenge you. So the consequences of her decision solely lie with her. Now, in the same manner, the consequences of her death are on you as well, my lord."

Hearing Olamide’s clear-cut reply, I moved my face inches away from his.

"Ho? You mean the rest of the ENSAE army or her clan? What will you do if they decide to come for me?" I asked through clenched teeth.

The bulky African prince tilted his head for a moment before answering.

"I have already chosen my lord. My allegiance lies with you. In exchange for saving me, I will use my life in your service. Should the ENSAE army come for you, then I will fight them till I fall and return to my ancestors."

Not really expecting much from his oath, I turned to Amari, waiting for his reply.

"I will neither help you nor join them. You gave me the task of preparing Africa for war with Hellsgate. I cannot do so if I begin butchering my own people. I will, however, do everything I can to make them stand down. Once we cleanse Father, they should do so."

An extremely optimistic take. Still, whatever happens after I help him ends. The subjugation of the demons was supposed to determine who would be the next Hannibal. And I interfered with that by saving five of them.

’But if you think about it. If I manage to cleanse the Immortal, the entire selection thing would be moot.’

At that moment, I heard the loud footsteps of heavy beings. The tremors grew as the seconds passed. Turning toward the source, I saw the Vithriss and Roach running towards me.

’Hmm. This must be what being in a stampede feels like.’

A few seconds later, they arrived before me and knelt. Though Juno and her sisters seemed emotionless, their tails said otherwise. They twisted and swayed like dogs.

"My lord, Juno and the Awakened have returned. Thank you for letting us practice by using the Dream demons. It helped us learn and coordinate better."

I nodded and asked Roach, who had a goofy smile on his face.

"You looked happy; did you like the guns Exa let you borrow?"

"Hehe. Yes, I did. Give them to me, Limitless. I want them," he grunted.

"Okay. They are yours. When I upgrade our weapons in the future, we will include you too."

"Got it. I am looking forward to what you have in store next. Where do we go next? Do we meet the Immortal bastard you kept talking about earlier?"

"Yeah. Once the others arrive here. We will go to them next. We might get into a lot of fights, so be prepared."

"Grrrrr. Great. Can’t wait."

A powerful gush of wind blew. It carried the scent reminiscent of fall. There was only one woman who smelled like this among my women. A shadow eclipsed the sun as it closed in on me. I looked up and saw the beautiful face of Robyn Lithgow-Smith.

"Kitten."

"Possum."

She came down and threw herself at me. Her two hands wrapped around my neck as my Aussie lover kissed me in a tender manner.

"I came with your missing head. Where is my reward?" she teased as she shook the leopard head she had grabbed by its scalp.

"Thanks, Kitten. I will give it to you later. Can I please have Nomvula’s head?"

Robyn then darted towards me, kissed the tip of my nose, and drew away just as fast. Whenever this woman floated around, she moved like the wind. And she was like a little squirrel playing pranks.

"Only if you can catch me."

"[Ninja], [Shadow]."

"Ah! That’s cheating!"

Using my [Ninja] discipline’s skill, I turned invisible and reappeared by her side. I then wrapped my hands around her waist before I canceled the skill. To almost everyone, it seemed like I teleported. But I just moved with great speed.

"Caught you," I said before kissing her collarbone.

"Hmph! You cheated. That doesn’t count."

"Please forgive me just this once, Kitten. I need to put the arrogant lady back together so she knows to shut up."

"Fine, but you have to spoil me and brush my hair twice as long, Possum."

"Okay."

My Australian made a blissful smile before she tossed the leopard head toward me.

"Ebony. Exa, {Restore} rounds, please."

[Ready.]

With the right ammo loaded, I raised the leopard head. I then shoved my black pistol into the bloody hole under the chin. I pulled the trigger. A large hole opened up at the tip of Nomvula’s head.

In the span of a few seconds, dark, slime-like things flowed from under the leopard’s neck hole. Seeing the proof of the {Restore} round working, I walked toward the feline corpse, head in hand.

’Exa, shut the net off.’

[Roger that.]

When the electricity charring Nomvula’s body stopped. In one swift motion, I yanked the chain away and tossed the head toward her neck. Like the roots of a tree, the black appendages began to connect Nomvula’s head back to the rest of her body.

Within seconds, the restoration process was completed. The peanut gallery cheered, sang, and danced. Their induna had stood up on her own again. Nomvula eventually opened her eyes but looked at me a bit absentmindedly.

"What? Do you want to fight for some more?" I asked.

"Marry me," she replied.

"Fuck. This can’t be good."
