Chapter 25: Chapter 25 - First Tamed Beast

Despite the unbearable pain, Leonard felt something strange inside himself. There was a savage side he had never known before, a side that forced him to keep fighting even as his body was torn apart again and again. He was like a madman, a man who no longer cared about pain or danger. Only one thing mattered to him now, survive and kill the monster in front of him.

When the boar monster screamed in agony after Leonard blinded its second eye with the axe, it opened its mouth wide. The scream was deafening, painful to the ears, but Leonard saw an opening. Without thinking, Leonard attacked straight into the monster’s mouth.

He drove his axe into the roof of the boar’s mouth. Hot blood burst across his face, flooding into his own mouth and nearly making him choke. The boar monster shrieked louder, thrashing even more violently, and for the first time it tried to retreat. It tried to escape from the small mad creature that kept attacking it without stopping.

But before the monster could move far, something happened.

From above, a figure descended with tremendous force. Lily’s foot slammed into the boar monster’s body so hard that the ground beneath it sank several centimeters. The boar collapsed, its massive body rolling to the side and releasing Leonard from its jaws.

Leonard, his body still regenerating, crawled toward the monster. He did not know where this strength was coming from.

He attacked again. And Lily joined him.

Together they rained blows upon the boar monster. Leonard swung his axe again and again at any part he could reach, the snout, the neck, the belly, anywhere. Lily used her powerful fists, striking the monster’s body repeatedly. The boar monster, now completely blind and badly wounded, could only twitch weakly and thrash without direction as it gradually grew weaker.

Finally, the monster stopped moving. It was not dead. Leonard could still see its chest rising and falling slowly. But it no longer fought. It lay there helpless.

Leonard felt the world spinning. His head was dizzy and his vision blurred. He could feel his body ready to collapse at any moment. Blood covered his entire body, his own and the monster’s mixed together. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

He heard Lily running toward him. Her face appeared in front of him, filled with worry and panic. Her lips moved as she said something, but Leonard could not hear anything. There was only a long ringing in his ears. Lily’s voice sounded as if it came from the end of a long tunnel, too distant to understand.

But in the middle of that ringing, Leonard heard something else. A whisper inside his head. Like the system voice that appeared when he first lost consciousness.

[ You have successfully defeated Black Tusk Boar. ]

[ Your blood has perfectly fused with the blood of the Black Tusk Boar. ]

[ Do you want to tame this creature? ]

[ Yes / No ]

With the little consciousness he had left, Leonard thought only one thing.

’This pig almost killed me. But if it can become an ally...’

His eyes stared at the giant boar mutated beast. Its body was massive and powerful even after all the injuries it had suffered. With Stage 2, it was clearly stronger than both Lily and himself.

’This could become my protector in this world.’

With fading consciousness, Leonard made his choice.

’Yes.’

[ Confirmation received. Taming Black Tusk Boar... ]

[ Establishing blood bond... ]

[ Connecting consciousness... ]

[ Process complete. ]

[ Congratulations! You have tamed your first Mutated Beast: Black Tusk Boar. ]

Leonard read the messages with increasingly heavy eyes. Through the fading haze of his consciousness, he felt something new, like an invisible thread connecting him to the giant boar monster. He could feel its presence and the rhythm of its life. He could also feel that the creature now belonged to him.

And then Leonard lost consciousness.

"Leo! Leo!" Lily shook Leonard’s body in panic. "Wake up! Don’t die! Leo!"

But Leonard did not move. His body was limp and covered in blood, even though Lily could see that all his wounds had already closed. He remained unconscious.

Tears began to fall from Lily’s eyes.

"Leo... I’m sorry... Lily was too late... Lily couldn’t protect you... this is all Lily’s fault... Lily always causes trouble..."

She kept muttering, blaming herself as her sobbing grew louder.

From behind the trees, the sound of footsteps approached. Lily turned with tear filled eyes and saw a woman stepping out from the forest.

Borami.

The cow woman stopped at the edge of the battlefield, her eyes widening at the sight before her. The ground was soaked with blood. Trees had fallen everywhere and stones were scattered around. In the middle of it all lay Leonard’s blood covered body not far from the giant Black Tusk Boar that was also lying on the ground with horrifying wounds across its body.

"Lily!" Borami ran over immediately. "What happened?!"

Lily could only cry and point toward Leonard. Borami quickly knelt beside him and examined his body. Her skilled hands touched his neck, searching for a pulse. She lifted his eyelids to check his pupils. She pressed her hand against his chest, feeling his heartbeat.

After a few seconds, Borami let out a long breath. The tension on her face eased slightly.

"He’s fine, Lily," she said gently. "All his wounds have already healed. His pulse is strong and his heart is beating normally. He just fainted."

Lily sniffed. "B-but... the blood... his wounds earlier..."

"Look for yourself." Borami lifted Leonard’s arm and showed the smooth skin without any injuries. "No wounds. Like I said, he’s fine."

Lily blinked, tears still falling. "But... how is that possible?"

Borami gave a faint smile. "As you can see, Lily. Leo has regeneration. His body can heal quickly from any wound."

Lily stared at Leonard with wide eyes. "Regeneration? But that is an ability of high stage beastkin..."

"Yes." Borami nodded.

Before Lily could ask further, Borami looked at her seriously.

"Now explain everything to me. What exactly happened? Why is there a Mutated Beast up here?"

Lily opened her mouth to answer, but—

A low growl interrupted her.

Both of them turned toward the sound.

The Black Tusk Boar moved.

Borami immediately stood up and took a defensive stance. Lily also prepared herself even though her body was still trembling.

But what happened next made both of them stare in shock.

The wounds across the boar monster’s body began to close. Torn flesh rejoined. Broken bones fused together. Flowing blood stopped. Everything happened with incredible speed, even faster than Leonard’s regeneration.

Within seconds, the monster’s body returned to perfect condition. No wounds. No trace of the battle. Its black skin became smooth again, its tusks whole, its fur standing tall.

Then the monster fell asleep. Its breathing became steady as if nothing had happened.

Borami and Lily exchanged glances. Thousands of questions filled their minds. What had just happened? How was that possible? What did it have to do with Leonard?

Borami looked at the unconscious Leonard, then back at Lily.

"Lily," she said quietly, "explain everything. From the beginning. Don’t leave anything out."

Lily nodded and began telling the story. About how they met, how she decided to help Leonard gather firewood, how the boar monster suddenly attacked them, how they tried to escape but failed, and how Leonard fought the monster alone in a brutal battle. She arrived too late and found Leonard already destroyed but still fighting like a madman.

Before Lily finished speaking, the sound of several footsteps approached from the forest.

Borami and Lily turned.

Five men emerged from the trees. They were tall and muscular, their bodies covered in leather clothing. Curved horns grew from their heads, cow horns just like Borami’s. Cow ears on the sides of their heads and cow tails behind them.

The cow tribe. Hunters.

The largest man among them stepped forward. His hair was jet black and his horns were the biggest and most impressive. His eyes narrowed as he observed the scene in front of him: Leonard lying unconscious and covered in blood, Lily crying, and the Black Tusk Boar lying not far away.

Then his gaze shifted to Borami.

Borami immediately narrowed her eyes.

"Taron," she greeted coldly. "Is this your doing?"

The man smiled, a shameless smile that made Borami want to slap him.

"You must be the one who subdued this Mutated Beast, Borami," he said with a condescending tone. "Thank you for subduing it without damaging it. It accidentally escaped from our restraints."

Borami clenched her fists. Anger began to rise inside her.

"Are you not even going to apologize? Because of your carelessness, two people almost died!"

Taron shrugged casually.

"Oh right. Forgive our negligence." His apology sounded empty without the slightest regret. He did not even look at Leonard or Lily. "In that case, we will take back our prey."

He signaled to his men.

Borami stepped forward and stood between Taron and Leonard. Her expression hardened.

"Wait."

Taron raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Borami pointed her chin toward Leonard.

"Your prey escaped from you. And it was subdued by that man." Her voice was firm. "So it is no longer your prey. It is ours now because we are the ones who subdued it."

The men behind Taron laughed. Some of them chuckled and exchanged mocking glances.

Taron himself smiled wider.

"Oh really?"

He stepped closer to Borami. He was so tall that he had to lower his head slightly to look at her.

"You cursed woman. You can live here because of my family. Otherwise, after everything you did, you would have already been expelled from this village."

Borami stepped back half a step but remained standing straight. Her jaw tightened, but she could not respond. Taron’s words struck exactly at her weakest point.

Taron continued, his voice full of mockery.

"You think you deserve this Mutated Beast? You, the woman who brings misfortune and death to everyone around you?" He laughed softly. "Just watch. That man," he pointed his thumb at Leonard, "will probably die soon too. Just like everyone who gets close to you."

Borami said nothing. Her hands trembled but she could not reply.

Taron gestured to his men.

"Take the pig."

Two men stepped forward and grabbed the sleeping Black Tusk Boar. They lifted it easily and began carrying it away.

Taron looked at Borami once more with a satisfied smile.

"Thanks for the help, Borami. See you."

He laughed, then turned and left with his men, carrying the giant boar that Leonard had just tamed.

Borami could only stand there, clenching her hands while holding back the anger and helplessness flooding her chest. Lily stood beside her in silence, worried and unsure what to say.
